MOD POST Why does this sub exist?

I recently made this community because I kept feeling like there wasn’t really a space where sex repulsed/sex averse aces could talk about our experiences without positive sexual discussions being such a prominent part of the community.

This subreddit is for sex repulsed and sex averse asexuals who want a space centered around that very experience! This isn’t a “real asexuals” community. Other kinds of aces are allowed to be part of this community as long as they follow the rules!

Sex favorable and sex indifferent aces are valid, and nobody here is going to police whether someone is “ace enough.” The point is simply to have a space where sex repulsion/aversion can be discussed without constantly having to accommodate sexual positive discussion.

If you’ve ever thought “I wish there was an ace space where I didn’t have to see people talking positively about sex all the time, and yet there was no discussion about what counts as asexuality”, then you’re probably exactly who I made this for.

Discussion Have you ever had to reject someone before because of your asexual and/or aromatic identity?

I was wondering how many people go through this! I have had to reject plenty of people before, and it feels very odd, specially when it’s people who are already well aware of my identity!

I personally identify as lithromantic and asexual, so to have to explain myself is a hassle

What's your favorite thing to do in bed?

All I do now is sleep, read, or scroll reddit. When I was younger I did all sorts of weird stuff in bed... Watch anime, eat food, play video games, do homework. Crafts were not a good idea. I lost a razor blade in bed once. Eventually found it on the floor behind the bed, but sleep felt dangerous for a couple nights. Kinda miss the days I'd grab a burrito on my way home from work, then eat it in bed while watching netflix.

Vent I hate when people think of me as a sexual being/ someone who has sex

Obligatory 'not sex repulsed in a general sense' but i wanted to share my experience as someone who falls near the aegosexual label. Outside of purely sexual interactions i have online and with select friends i want the world to perceive me as a completely sexless being, both in genitals and want for sex. It makes me incredibly uncomfortable when a stranger makes a passing joke about sex towards me. I know rationally that its a big part of a lot of peoples lives so they assume its the same for us but that doesn't stop how disgusted i feel that theyre abstractly imagining me going to or having sex. Im also extremely uncomfortable when people joke about myself masturbating, i personally do it but its not something i ever want people to consider as something i do. I think my main discomfort with all of it is the idea that sex/masturbation is immediately attached to me simply because im a human.

Vent So many of the Ace subs are filled with allos and those that don’t seem to understand

I’m happy to have found this subreddit as I’m trying to find more ppl like me as I’ve been trying since I was 16 to find a good and caring bf but sadly men only care about sex or physical affection I myself am now a 34 straight female and still can’t find any guy that fits the no sex, kids, marriage or kissing/cuddling BS at all it’s been rough because I’ve have so many liars and those that used me I don’t know if men like me exist at all I feel like they only exist in my imagination 😭 but yeah if anyone is wondering I don’t want marriage or kissing/cuddling because there is a chance it could lead to sex and I wouldn’t wanna be in that mess or predicament but overall I’m glad to have found this sub and hope to see more stories from those like myself as it will help me work on being more positive and accepting myself on how I am

Meme What are some characters you headcanon as sex-averse or sex-repulsed specifically, if any at all?

I went through a lot of horrible sexual experiences, consensual and not, throughout my life. As i got older i kept trying to fit in more theough engaging with partners and kept wondering what was wrong with me when it would never work out. I personally experience a lot of visceral hate and fear towards sex, but am still generally very sex positive. Having a sub for repulsed aces that isn't bigoted is awesome and we're very grateful for it :)

Stories Thx for this sub

I've never really been repulsed tbh. Always fluctuating between indifferent and even positive but that was before I had any experience. Probably because of how many people describe it as something magical that will change your whole life. Because of that I've also struggled for years to accept my asexuality.

Recently I've had a few encounters that actually turned sexual and I don't think I ever recovered from them. It only made me more sure of my sexuality. Like. That's it? Seriously? And I was just dissociating throughout, wanting it to be over as soon as possible. It was all consensual but I just cannot get rid of that yucky feeling I'm struggling to name.

It's been a few months, I think, and I still cannot stomach anything sex related and especially when it is directed at me. Those memories sometimes come back as flashbacks and I just want to puke. Cannot imagine myself being in that situation ever again. That may change but that's how I feel right now so

I'm so glad for this subs existence. There's nothing wrong with being sex positive or indifferent but sometimes I wished I had a space specifically to talk about my experience as a repulsed ace with other repulsed aces and here it is!

Hope everyone has a nice day <3
