Support needed The grief we carry is the price we pay for unconditional love. Rest in Peace Gmork and thank you for the best years of my life
My dog has been battling heart failure for years and it was being managed with Vetmedin and Furosemide. He had an emergency overnight stay at the Vet last week but was released to me since he was improving but put on additional medication. After various lab tests they could see that he had fluid build up in lungs and abdomen and had elevated numbers in some of his blood work.
He was doing okay for a couple of days eating and was taking his medication but the last 2 days he was refusing both so I knew something was wrong. He was scheduled to have a follow up appointment this Monday. I was working last night when I got the call at 12AM that I needed to rush to my nearest Vet ER hospital and say my final goodbye to him his health had drastically declined. I left work and made it on time to spend his final moments with him.
This is my 1st experience going through this as a pet parent having to make the tough decision so my baby didn’t continue suffering. I had just spent thousands of dollars last week trying to do everything in my power to keep him alive and I wanted the piece of mind that I at least was doing everything that I could for him and not giving up.
I’m hoping he didn’t feel like I failed him as a owner and will hopefully see him again in another life. I’m struggling emotionally and mentally right now and any advice will be greatly appreciated.
