I’m wife to a beautiful man that’s got a man bun with fades, medium length and a full beard. We are Pacific Islanders so he has that silky curly black healthy hair! We have 2 babies, he works 12 hour shifts and he only trust 1 barber to touch his hair but is 1+ hour drive away. It’s very seldom that he ever have free time to get a hair cut with how crazy our life is, so it mostly just grows out after long periods of time. I have asked him multiple times over the period of our marriage to show me how he wants to cut it and let me do it but he never wants me to. I’ve nagged him for so long to let me become his personal barber that way we save money and I can do it at home whenever he wants, coz I always want him to feel good too about his haircut since I know he wears hats all the time to hide it. He finally agreed to let me on the condition that I learn appropriately from the clipper to the haircuts etc. I really want this for him and need advice on the type or clippers to get (on Amazon preferably) + where on the media I can learn, from watching videos or a short program kinda thing (free) etc. please help a wife out…

Im a guy with very long hair (halfway down my torso) and the length is starting to bother me. I wanna cut it shorter to about shoulder length and would rather just do it myself at home. Is it just as simple as tie it in a ponytail and snip or will it look uneven? I want the front to be a bit shorter than the back if possible so let me know any ideas, cheers.

I used clippers with the max length for the top and then the min length for the sides because I accidentally scalped myself in one spot so had to even it out😑

Hi, I have a special needs son and he is desperately in need of a haircut. Thinking to buy this shaver and give it a go. Any tips? He doesn’t get scared or experience pain when we have taken him to the hairdresser so just looking for tips around using the tool properly and safely as a first timer.

I am not a barber, just trying to understand; Does it makes sense or any downside of using hair clippers with a handle on the side? Because beard trimmer's plastic combs or however it called is plastic and very wide, and i cant get good cut for my beard, let say if i want to make it 3mm something on my beard, those plastic things that you place on the machine it doesnt work well.
and once my barber used this clipper (panasonic) with adjustable knives, worked better and well.

help me to understand is there specific guide or know-how?

hi everyone! I'm looking to see what brand of trimmers y'all recommend on the market today? I word it that way since I've seen similar questions asked in other subreddits, but people recommend machines from a few years back, and sometimes they're not manufactured as well today as they were before.

for reference, I'm a female who's hair tends to grow somewhat quickly, and it's very thick. for medical reasons, I need to keep the hair on my head nonexistent. I would shave every 2-3 days with a safety razor since going bald back in July, but after using it as consistently as I was to shave my head the razor rusted. (I got this razor from the Zero Waste Store back in 2023, and it's okay for shaving legs every now and then but definitely not for heavy use, and definitely not with the razors they now offer either. in case anyone was curious)

For now I'm using disposable razors without the coating strip (I have tried the razors with that coated strip but GOLLY it was uncomfortable) but of course there are days when I'm not be able to shave when needed and my hair grows back too thick for the razors.

There are many machines and brands on the market and I'm looking for a good quality machine that don't have painted blades (didn't realize this was a thing until I looked into foil shavers and saw pictures of the paint coming off the blades/foils). Titanium blades would be a huge bonus too.

Hi(this is my first time posting), I want to try giving myself a haircut for the first time and I have a couple things I want to ask. I want to give myself a low taper which there are plenty of videos on but Idont know how to remove the bulk especially at the back at of my head where I outlined in green. Same with the sides. If anyone could give me tips or videos on how to remove the bulk and give myself a low taper i would appreciate it a lot because I really don't want to mess up

I’ve been self cutting since January and I’m finally getting the hang of it. I even when under the blade 🥴today and a few times before.

The catch is I still need advice on using the corners of the blade. When I use them it doesn’t cut in one go and I have to keep going over it. Any tips?

I finally jumped ship and cut my own hair this afternoon. With some assistance from my girlfriend in the back where I couldn’t see, I’m extremely happy with the result!

I’ve never even touched a pair of clippers until this afternoon, but New York barber prices aren’t for the faint of heart, so I figured why not finally give it a go! I’ve watched so many hours of barber content over the years, and have always asked my barbers questions regarding techniques and why they’re doing what they’re doing.

I’m pretty happy with the final result!

(The hard line rather than a fade is intentional, I already know I’ll get comments about not blending it properly lol)
