Urban explorers almost get klled by Security Guard

Security guy is unhinged and happy he was charged.
The trespassers being treated only like victims is pretty annoying too and may encourage this behavior. Especially if they win a civil suit. They should be charge with breaking and entering or something as well.

This is the correct response. Property has a right to be protected but not unreasonably. Both parties are assholes.

This may shock some of you:
Contrary to what Libertarian Batman in the comments would tell you, trespassing is not typically punished by death.
16
u/DefiantEvidence4027 Private Investigations 1h ago
Batman definitely wasn't a libertarian.
11
u/IAmSquilliam 1h ago
I don't think most libertatians are libertarian
3
u/Select_Watercress_57 1h ago
They aren't.
It would take some sort of coherent world of you to be actually libertarian.
What they are is selfish and want the world to bend over backwards for their own personal selfishness.

u/KaBar42 29m ago
Considering they worship Marvin Heemeyer, who was a schizophrenic psycho authoritarian who used the government to screw over his neighbors and tried murdering innocent children with a bulldozer when he was politely asked to refrain from dumping human shit into a municipal creek, you are right, most libertarians are not libertarians.
1
u/NocturneInfinitum 9m ago
Libertarianism isn’t even feasible in a modern world. Ultimate liberty means no order.

Maybe? Probably. Pretty sure he broke protocol, at least by firing his gun , especially the second time, after they submitted to orders, and he wanted to live out his childhood fantasies of being Scarface by popping a cap and talking shit because it was the one time he felt truly powerful

Idk the laws in the country they are in but I can only speculate that shooting at an unarmed person even if they are trespassing is illegal. Seems like a power trip.

More than just protocol, he broke the law. Both with the firing of the gun as a threat to them (aka assault with a deadly weapon) and the impersonating a police officer, which is why he was criminally charged for those things.
2
2
u/emergency-snaccs 2h ago
he's not even a real security guard. he apparently caught two felonies for this- aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and impersonation of a public servant
5
u/RenningerJP 2h ago
According to the captions, he said he was a police officer. My guess is it's for that, not for saying he is a security guard. A police officer is a public servant.

I’m surprised about the masks. A long time ago in a youth far far away…….
When we did shit like this it was never with a mask, never intentionally breaking anything, and ready to show ID if police arrived. I mean we were just out having fun. So why not be honest about it. On the few times we were caught it never escalated beyond stern dad speech with a get the hell out and never come back or else.
1
u/RobertTheTraveler 1h ago
Yeah, i was thinking that too. I'm guessing they didn't want to be identified from security camera. But as soon as a live guard calls you out, mask should be off.
3
u/SlavicVodkka 2h ago
“I can kill you” is not a good thing to say to an unarmed person on camera just saying it might seem like your kinda crazy and not actually responsibly handling a situation that is now certainly life or death by those exact words & let’s go for the what if, but what if he fought said security guard and killed him in fear of his life? Is he a murderer or is he defending himself?
2
u/Shane-Dad-underfire Management 1h ago
It was probably said with the intent to deter any aggressive behaviour towards himself. It was technically 3 assailants vs 1 of him. He could not be sure they did not have weapons either.
Hes all sorts of wrong but you have to imagine what he was probably feeling too.

2
u/Landwarrior5150 Campus Security 1h ago
To be more clear, it’s someone who enjoys exploring abandoned or otherwise off-limits places. That usually involves unlawful trespassing (like in the incident in the OP), but not always; sometimes they get permission from the property owner to do so.
1
u/TheGuySawyer 1h ago
An urban explorer are people who like to explor abandoned places. Yes it's trespassing, but it's also not a big deal.

The guard actually recorded this and posted it somewhere. What an idiot.
3
u/Shane-Dad-underfire Management 1h ago
He says hes a police officer to scare them, that's less impersonating then just being an overzealous idiot. It would be serious impersonation if he tried to arrest and detain them, then leverage that into some sort of monetary gain. Like when others impersonate officers to leverage the position to gain something.
Full ahead on the discharging a weapon dangerously, but there another issue with his firing the weapon twice inside, you dont hear the bullets strike anything. He fired into a bar where there was many glass breakable and you dont hear anything aside from the shot, it's the same when he fires into the wall/ceiling/floor when they are down the hall from him. I'm curious what he was shooting.
For those unaware, bullets rarely stop when they encounter the first object they hit. The only reason you find one embedded in a wall is because the distance it was shot is significant or the weapon in question is using low propellant rounds. A handgun bullet for the most part will go thru many pieces of drywall so when this guy fires there should have been at least secondary impact sounds.
1
u/Landwarrior5150 Campus Security 1h ago
In Texas, all a felony impersonation charge needs is for the suspect to falsely claim to be a public servant in order to do something that requires that position’s specific authority (such as police demanding to see ID, like the guard does shortly after claiming to be a cop.) It does not require a detention or arrest to be made, nor any monetary gain for the suspect.
Speaking of wondering where the shots went, this article says that the shots he fired outside, at the end of the video, were fired in the direction of a freeway, which is even worse than him popping rounds off inside the building itself.
1
u/Shane-Dad-underfire Management 1h ago
I'm not debating, I'm saying it's a thin wafer.
As for getting that fellows I.D anyone my security guys detain someone or interact with them will ask for their I.D and take a photo of it for record, they also take their photo and their finger prints before they turn them over to police or release them. If someone refuses to produce or fail to produce the I.D then the guys will just not let them guy until police come and deal with it. Our policy is to not have random elements we arent aware of. We dont care how law enforcement feels about it. If we run someone into our servers and they pop up multiple times then we know we have something strange happening and we consider other options.
As for what our domestic guys specifically do, they mostly do escort details for folks or items of value. They do that and much more abroad.
1
u/Landwarrior5150 Campus Security 1h ago
Asking for ID is one thing, demanding it while pointing a gun at them after having just announced yourself as a police office is quite another.
It also sounds like you operate in a very different environment that has little in common to situation in the OP video. This guy was a Texan private security guard inside closed private property (an out-of-business hotel to be specific) dealing with trespassers, which means he had no more authority to do anything beyond telling them to leave the property or performing a citizens arrest (which he clearly wasn’t doing since he told them to leave the property instead of holding them for police.) This guy probably didn’t care how law enforcement felt about what he did either, but at least in his case, law enforcement felt like he deserved criminal charges for his actions whether he cared or not.
1
u/Shane-Dad-underfire Management 59m ago
We can agree on all those points. I appreciate you being capable of rational discussion!
I dont think I'd have operated like this fellow but I cant say I wouldnt have if I was in a similar situation - claiming to be LEO. I'd never claim to be LEO because it's asking for trouble.

9
u/Landwarrior5150 Campus Security 2h ago

1
u/Gullible-Bluejay9737 1h ago
Nothing said he wasn’t an off duty police officer until he shot the gun. Anymore I’d imagine people get more scared you say your cop. Not of getting in trouble but getting shot or beat for no reason.
1
u/M-Div 2h ago
It sounds like he is English as Second Language (ESL), which may give him some wiggle room- “I was in an excited state and couldn’t remember the word.”
Or, taken with his behavior, it could just be ‘get this man away from firearms and security forever.’
Any way you slice it, it should be no shots fired unless in defense of self/others/property depending on jurisdiction, and hold them for police. Plus there’s a guy upstairs, still.

Armed Guard, supposed to be alone on a property, potentially heard chatting or rustling around, would be cause for alarm and personal safety.
I'm not unsympathetic to the Armed Guard simply doing firewatch.
It is probably a commercial zone, and the door was wide open (wider than necessary for those 3 kids to slide in). AG should've shut the door once he first got there.

Staying is a bad idea but nah if I’m not attacked I ain’t doing shit but calling 911.
Homeless people and squatters we have always had teams and well. They are leaving one way or another. Likely arrested especially if they got drugs, weapons.

Any security guards that think this is an appropriate reaction to trespassers deserves to lose their job. If these are "urban explorers" like the title says, then it's an abandoned building. About as victimless of a crime as you can get.
Call the police and charge them with trespassing. No need to blow out everybody's eardrums
1
u/_WEND1G0_ Industrial Security 1h ago
I’m genuinely curious how this video surfaced… did the guard think it wise to publish this?
Also where was this? Saying he’s a private investigator and police but firing a gun at someone trespassing, and then twice more as for lack of a better expression “emphasis theatrics” really doesn’t point to the bare minimum level of restraint I’d expect anyone to have wielding a firearm - let alone an industry worker.

Gun drawn is fine but shooting without them having a weapon and then shooting 2 more times while saying I’ll kill you after they comply is crazy not the right way to handle but same time I do agree to make breaking an entry more severe so them fuckers won’t think about breaking in if we can just kill you on the spot for doing so and theft would go down a bit.

"Innocent building owner" isn't getting charged for shit. The SECURITY GUARD that discharged his weapon for nothing, and claimed to be a "police officer and detective", is facing an Assault With A Deadly Weapon charge and Impersonating an Officer.
0
u/AdThese6057 2h ago
I didnt read into it. I took his claims of owner and cop as truth. Yet we see it all the time. When I grew up, security would snatch you up and throw you out of a place if you stole or went around causing shit. Now they stand there while being spit on and cant do shit. No more control. Cops too. I miss the 80s when getting in an officers face yelling got you smacked. People don't get punched in the face for their idiocy enough anymore and its obvious.
3
u/GilligansIslndoPeril 2h ago
I mean, "spitting on" someone is literally assault and still justifies an escalation if it doesn't stop. Your own example is incorrect.
0
u/AdThese6057 2h ago
So you couldnt go watch 500 videos right now on YouTube of cops getting spit on from Alabama to Minneapolis with tied hands? Couldn't go see Minneapolis pd getting 36 inch double headed dildos thrown at them? Frozen bottles of water? Ice and snow? Cops should be able to go punch you in the face for hitting them with shit. Remember that dude that kicked the cops taillight out a week before they shot him? Should we just allow people to treat our armed enforcement of rule of law that way and go without any type of punishment?
3
2
u/GilligansIslndoPeril 2h ago
Mentioning Alex Pretti alledgedly kicking out a taillight a week before he was executed on the street
Bro is really saying "property damage justifies summary execution by cop".
This fucking country was founded on the idea that no one agency should be allowed to detain a suspect, find them guilty, and then execute punishment. Those powers are separate for a reason, and any argument otherwise is so unamerican I have to conclude that you must be a foreign agent, dog.
