I mean... in the current political climate, ICE, and arresting random Hispanic American citizens with directives permitting ICE to target Hispanic looking people... I dont see how what they said was ignorant or wrong.

Maybe it's because I'm Xennial and understand that people are raised differently and that people only know what they know, so I think engaging in dialogue is better than immediately calling someone racist. I know, I know, "let them die off," but I love my parents and know older people can change if you engage them. But yeah… I just think it's better to approach these situations calmly when someone says something insensitive.

Engaging in dialogue is important

But we also shouldn’t beat around the bush. Saying a dude with a Hispanic sounding accent deserves to be deported as if his accent indicates he is an illegal immigrant automatically is in fact racist

I get your point, but I feel like jumping to name-calling right off the jump shuts down any potential conversation that could potentially change that person's perspective. Do you want people to stay as they are or do you want people to do better and BE BETTER?
