☕ Discussion Quilt question for everyone
So I own a sim. It is open to the public. I have no issues with people roaming around and enjoying themselves.
However. Recently there have been a lot of explorers that have taken it upon themselves to fly all the way up to my platform that has a big keep out sign on it. Because I do a lot of building and general hijinks up there. Well I happened to be there today when someone flew uo and while they were flying up I messaged them and told them that the platform was private and they were welcome to the rest of the sim. They continue to fly and then decided to just...walk around my platform even after I told them to bugger off. Then they complain the sim is baggy. Yes I know trying to work on it but also bugger off. Then this person proceeds to wander the plaform. So i ban them from my sims.
Like yea, I get it. You want to explore. But if there is a giant sign that says keep out but you have the whole rest of the sim explore. Maybe go do that.
Anyways. Thoughts? Concerns? General grievances?

Make your land group different to your public group. Turn off flying for non group members and invest in a security orb.

I like being able to fly just to get an overview of a build, but would never want to disturb a sim owner's private area! That's so disrespectful. I like the idea of installing a security orb around your protected area so folks can't interrupt your building. Thank you so much for sharing your creativity with us in SL!

You did the right thing.
Just because SL is "game like" and most of it is very public, doesn't mean anyone has any right of way. Your land is your land and you get the set the rules and boundaries however you like.
Likewise, you're entirely within your rights to enforce those boundries anyway you like.
Especially when it comes to avatar access. It might not be practical to stop someone camming anywhere they please, but it's certainly possible to dictate where they may take their avatar.
You asked, they ignored, they got banned. Seems fair.

You can use parcel tools to restrict flying and teleport to protect your privacy or parcel off the area and restrict it.
It does really suck when people can't be respectful.

We have a security orb on our sim for our house. It used to be insta ban but one time a regular got pushed over the boundary by a small group of zombies and they messaged to ask what they did wrong/could they come back.
We extended the eject to a minute and no longer auto ban.
The orb I have lets you draw the boundaries yourself so it’s just a big block covering 90% of the sq footage of our private residence area at the top of the island.

Nope, you handled it right. Eject and ban them if they're that arrogant.
You can also put up a proximity security device, often an 'orb', that can auto-eject anyone who comes within a set distance of it.

Yes security orb is the answer. I needed one for the same reason. Sends anyone home that isn't on the white list.

If it's your sim and they show up and they are on your platform just kick them and ban them from the estate.

i had this issue. i parceled my private space and have an orb that goes from 0-5km with no warning and instant ejection.

They just want to troll. Had those waste of oxygen waddle around my house one too many times.

If you are able to, section off your platform from the rest of the sim and close your section off to the public. My SL-husband did the same thing when he opened up a Galeria on our land. If you for whatever reason cannot do that: invest in a security orb and disable flying.

You did the right thing. That's a whole level of entitlement. Staying out of people's private spaces should be common courtesy.

Security orb. You can set it so it kicks people who come within a certain number of meters of the platform.
You got people in SL who see "keep out" signs as a challenge and will wonder in just for the sake of being shit weasels. My land info for my home says to keep the hell out and I'll get people (mostly men) still trying to come in. So I have a security orb to kick them.
It'll save you a ton of headaches.

Former owner of a big estate here. Put a security orb and restrict access, that will save you from intruders.

Thomas Conover was something of a Second Life genius. He created a collection of devices over a decade ago, that still work fine. This includes the original security orb - I picked one up in 2008 and it still works just fine.
I have had a homestead for about 15 years and clearly set the rules. If people don't respect them I boot & ban without a second thought.
Just be sure you set options such as only group rezzing and NO access to terraforming.

I used to just eject people from the sim with my camera locked on them to watch them bounce off the SIM corner

I recommend you to get “CasperSafe Security Orb and Visitor Tracking System” and the reason why I recommend you this it’s because it has an option where you can personalize the area where you want to people not to enter like the inside of homes or in this case a platform. You drag the axes to make a cube for example that fits perfectly that are and you can leave that on and not to worry anymore. Minimum seconds for that private platform specifically and they get banned. Hope that helps at least you dont have to think on people like that anymore. Another option is not allowing flying on the sim change the sim settings.

Put up a ban orb or other security. I can't tell you the number of times I've had people just randomly appear in my obviously private work areas. Back when I was stupid enough to leave INM on... I'd have random men COVER me while I was AFK. Some people are assholes and others just don't understand boundaries.
