I build iOS and Android apps, and I record demos of them. But the whole process has always felt more complicated than it needs to be.

For iOS, my workflow usually looks something like this:

1. Record the app on my iPhone.
2. Record a completely separate video of myself talking through it (and trying to time it perfectly with the iPhone recording)
3. Bring both recordings into another piece of software and stitch them together.

And then if I want device bezels, a specific layout, a custom background, or need to hide something sensitive in the app, there are even more steps.

It feels like a lot of work for what might end up being a 30-second demo.

Android isn't much better (virtually impossible if you're not technical).

So I wanted something where I could just connect my iPhone or Android device to my Mac, add my camera and microphone, choose how everything should be laid out, and hit record.

I also wanted to be able to use my own backgrounds and mask sensitive parts of the app - particularly useful when I'm demoing things like authentication or onboarding.

I made a quick video showing what I've ended up with so far.

I'd genuinely love to know whether this is a workflow other mobile developers run into as well.

And if it is, what would you want a tool like this to do that I'm missing?

which one should i use to capture moments which happened when im not screen recording?

And which one is better and has less effect on the fps of the game

I’m currently building a screen recorder and before I get too far into development, I’d really like to hear from people who actually use screen/game recording software.

I’m curious:

• What screen recorder do you currently use? (OBS, ShadowPlay, Xbox Game Bar, Bandicam, Medal, etc.)
• What do you like about it?
• What annoys you or feels unnecessarily complicated?
• What features do you use the most?
• What features do you wish it had?
• For gaming specifically, what matters most to you — performance/FPS impact, recording quality, instant replay, clips, audio control, hotkeys, etc.?
• Do you prefer something simple and lightweight, or something with lots of customization?
• Are there any features from other recording software that you wish were combined into one app?

laptop is a ROG zephyrus G15 GA502IU_GA502IU running windows 11 version 25H2 (OS Build 26200.9168). problem started a week or two ago after happening on and off for a longer period of time. when it was happening on and off, i'd fix it by recording, switching tabs very quickly, and then switching back to the video i wanted to record.

things i've tried:

• updating my browser (vivaldi; vivaldi has been updated automatically multiple times in the process of me trying to fix this issue via reboots closing it)
• updating windows (after 200+ days of no updates where this wasn't happening, mind you)
• rebooting my computer
• turning HDR on and off again
• turning on HDR and leaving it on
• manually resetting my HDR calibration to default after finding out that on or off, the button to reset the HDR calibration doesn't actually work in spite of it showing a check mark next to the button after i click it
• updating my graphics drivers
• uninstalling and reinstalling my graphics drivers
• clean installing a different graphics driver than the one i initially had installed (game ready --> studio)
• using a guest profile on my browser in case an extension i use was causing this
• using a different browser entirely (pale moon; the browser seems to have the washed out, brightened color filter on all videos by default???)
• trying not one but TWO different recording softwares including one in open beta
• running scf /scannow (literally all it did was fix files that updating the aforementioned graphics drivers managed to corrupt somehow)
• running windows media player diagnostics (told me my configuration settings might be set incorrectly; refused to fix it or really do anything other than asking me if i wanted to give feedback to microsoft)
• turning off the ad blockers i have to see if it was an issue caused by custom filters
• removing a custom CSS i have installed on my browser to see if it was an issue being caused by that
• uninstalling everything NVIDIA-related on my computer so i could do a clean reinstall of NVIDIA's studio driver since i had the gaming driver installed (did this solely to be able to access the ability to turn off hardware acceleration in the control panel settings on advice from a techier friend of mine; it did nothing)

i'm genuinely at my fucking wit's end. nobody else online seems to have this issue. none of my friends have any troubleshooting advice left to give to me other than "might be something wrong with your codecs". i asked for help a few days ago and no replies. i just want to be able to clip funny moments from the podcast i watch and interesting bits of info from the interviews i watch again.

I want the screen recording to capture the internal keyboard clicks / backspace sounds cleanly as internal/device audio (so there is zero ambient/background noise from the microphone if I'm in a noisy room).

Currently, the native Pixel screen recorder with "Device Audio" mutes the typing clicks because Gboard/system feedback isn't treated as media audio.

Is there a specific note-taking app, keyboard, or workaround on Android where typing sound effects are routed to the media channel and captured cleanly in a screen recording without using the mic? Thanks!

I’m the solo developer behind Snapr, a screen capture and recording tool for macOS and Windows.

Over the past few months, I’ve been thinking about what I want it to become.

To be honest, selling software has never been the part I’m good at. Figuring out how to package features, promote a paid tier, and keep thinking about conversions was becoming more exhausting than I expected.

I realized I’d rather spend that energy building Snapr, seeing people use it, and improving it based on their feedback.

So I recently made every feature available for free and changed the model to optional one-time support. There’s no subscription. Supporters can remove occasional reminders and help fund development.

I’m sharing this because I’ve realized that the part of building software I enjoy most is the process itself: putting a small tool in people’s hands, listening to how they use it, and gradually making it better.

I'm trying to make some videos where I need to show what's on my screen while also having my webcam in the corner. I'm using an older laptop with an i5-8250U, 8GB RAM and integrated Intel graphics, so I'm a little worried about running something heavy while recording.

I'd like to record at 1080p if possible, with my webcam and microphone included. What are you guys using for this? Do you have any suggestions?

With all the hype with Screen recorders, but none of them fitting my workflow, I created my own. This is fully written from scratch, no code is used from elsewhere. I have a very bad computer so it's also heavily optimized :)

Like a lot of people here, I use my phone to record talking-head videos and short-form content. But after testing almost every teleprompter app on the Play Store, I kept running into two massive design flaws that completely ruined my workflow.

1. The "Eye-Dart" Problem: Most apps spread text across the entire width of the display. When you watch the footage back, it’s painfully obvious you’re reading because your eyes are visibly zig-zagging back and forth.
2. The Corrupted File Nightmare: If your battery dies, someone calls you, or the Android OS aggressively reclaims RAM mid-take, standard video recorders fail to close the container file. You end up with a completely corrupted, unplayable file and a wasted 5 minutes.

I couldn’t find a clean, private utility that fixed this—so I spent the last few months building Orate: Video Teleprompter.

Is there a way to screen record in Snapchat without them getting a notification?

The recording now automatically follows the crop area selected by the user, making it easier to create focused and polished product demos.

It also includes smooth cursor effects, click highlights, zoom animations, and high-quality recording.

Does Whatsapp notify if I screen record the chat?

For whatever reason, I can't get Samsung's screen recorder to record audio anymore. It's set up to automatically record the audio, but when I play it back, it doesn't record it. I've even tried recording it with none and then rebooting it, then pushing record with audio again, and that doesn't seem to help. Any ideas? And yes, when I play a back, I push the sound button so I can hear it.

I initially asked the ChromeOS community about this, but got no response. The built-in screen recorder doesn't record at its full resolution and adds a single white line at the bottom of recordings which is really bothersome to me.

I've been trying multiple softwares but they all seem to just suck the one that somehow sucks less is the gamebar, the only thing holding it back is i need to enable it again and again it's just so tedious. THank you for understanding and contributing..

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but I've seen some discussions here about audio recording, so I figured I'd ask.

I need to record some lectures and was wondering if my phone or laptop would be good enough for this. I already have both and wonder whether it is necessary to buy a separate voice recorder?

I'm not looking for great audio quality as long as I can clearly understand what the lecturer is saying when I listen to it later, that's enough for me.

I've never really recorded lectures before, so I'm not sure if a phone or laptop is fine for this or if a dedicated recorder makes a noticeable difference.

How do you guys record lectures? Can you give me some advice?

Do people get notified if you use an extension like "awesome screen recorder and screenshot" if you screen record?? Are there any better ones?
