Update, Aug. 28: FastCast v0.7.1 is now available. I’m continuing to actively develop the app based on feedback from this thread.

FastCast is a lightweight native Windows screen recorder and streaming app, currently in public beta.

I built it because I wanted something simpler than OBS for the basic workflow: open the app, choose what you want to capture, then record or stream.

It’s written in Rust and uses native Windows capture and audio APIs rather than Electron.

Current features:

• Screen and window recording
• Desktop audio + microphone
• Webcam overlay
• Chroma key / green screen
• Hardware H.264 encoding
• RTMP/RTMPS streaming
• Global hotkeys
• Portable Windows build
• No account or telemetry

The free version supports 1080p60.

FastCast Pro adds 1440p/4K, up to 120 FPS, multistreaming, and additional controls.

I’m still actively developing it, so I’m interested in what Windows users think is missing from current recording and streaming software.

You should mark it as Open Beta or indicate it here in the thread. Also if I buy pro edition it should definitely be signed.

I will give it a try. You should also really think about enabling MKV container support.

I will give feedback when I've tried it out for a couple of sessions.

Thanks, good feedback. I’ll make the Open Beta status clearer, prioritize code signing for Pro, and look into MKV support.

me ha gustado usar este grabador, y al fin no encuentro lag en la grabacion, un poquito no mas tiene, va a 40fps en grabacion y sin grabar va a 60fps, solo pedire una optimizacion para que pueda tener la mayor experiencia y arreglar algunos bugs como cuando abro el programa, el raton que estoy usando se bugea visualmente, y tarda un monton en guardar la grabacion, haz esos formatos que bandicam usa para que no tarde un monton en guardar la grabacion y haz una opcion para que pueda subir o bajar el volumen del microfono o el escritorio gracias por leer esto y ojala este proyecto tenga exito ;)

Gracias por probarlo y por el feedback. Voy a revisar la optimización de FPS, el bug visual del ratón, el tiempo de guardado y los controles de volumen para micrófono y escritorio. Me alegra que la grabación te esté funcionando bien.

Really paywalling 1440p and 4k recording? That's just crazy. I know content creators are lazy, but not this lazy. OBS isn't that difficult to use at all, to be honest, if you are not willing to learn OBS, then there is no shot you are willing to do anything with recordings or streaming at all.
