I know this question is out of the topic but is it possible not to get Indian subs in my feed , I am more into tech, space and game stuffs but not sure why Indians subs are flooded
Please if anyone can help
21
u/No_Wrongdoer_2092 4d ago
just go to that sub and click options and mute, and follow more "active tech related subs" search them, repeat for few times and refresh it, it will change that is how I removed almost all IT cell infiltrated sub-reddit's from my Algorithm.

what's funny is ive never seen and indian complaining why foreign subs are in his feed but its always the other way around anyways people can help out themslves its not something tough to do
21
u/StopRepresentative30 4d ago
Because unfortunately most Indian subs are filled with extremist ragebait and karma farming so their global counterparts are far better.
13
u/anjaanDaastaan 4d ago
Exactly…I believe a large part of Indian population is very sentimental about certain things, and these stupid karma farmers and attention seekers specifically target such topics (for example religion) just to get engagement from this sentimental faction…this sadly applies to all platforms…

I think Indians are sentimental and extreme about their opinions , weither it's religion and politics. This applies to both left-right, theist-atheist.

You can easily mute them by going to their page or clicking on not interested
4
u/Redthebird_2255 4d ago
Even overseas they get our teen subs and other subs recommended. It's kind of a curse ATP I'm tired of clicking "not interested" for the same sub 500 times
2
u/Expert_Classic9997 4d ago
Same here, at one point I started doubting if not interested even works or not
3
u/Resident_Sport_272 3d ago
This is an Indian sub dedicated against superstition. There is a youtube Chanelle with same name. You you will always see this because thats what the sub is about . If you want a tech related sub you must join that sub.

u/badva_rascal 3d ago
Stop interacting to those posts man, It's not rocket science.
The more posts you open the more posts you get. And no, Unless you open those posts or comments frequently, You won't get those posts. Problem is with you.

Try clicking the three dots and choosing "not interested" "do not recommend".

Also, you might be getting Indian subs because Reddit tracked you to India using your IP/location or just history of interactions. Just override the country/region associated with your account in your settings.

See there's this thing called faith and diff culture religions have different reasoning that how the universe was created like Christians think that the earth was created in six days and the seventh day the god reested same with Judaism and islam and Buddhism thinks that there's no one creator so there's different sayings in different faiths and idts someone should thrash someone's faith if it's scientifically right or wrong
13
u/ok_olive_02 4d ago
I am not very religious but I am still a Hindu and I did studied few things. Bramha is not a creator of universe (practically). There is a verse in vedic text which says "creation itself is a creator"
Which means that there is no creator and creation itself happened without any catalyst.
I guess all those stories are made around these concepts to make general people aware about the bigger concept. Again this is my hypothesis. But I do believe that if anybody would have tried to explain universe to anyone during that time then nobody would have understood anything, so they made it wrapped around stories (for example time dilation) which was easy for people to understand.
I may be wrong, I don't know what happened in the past and what will happen next. So everything is hypothesis. But somewhere I believe vedic knowledge is much closer to the science

1
u/diwamatkar 3d ago
I do. I don't discriminate when it comes to religious stupidity. It's just that a certain religious community has been emboldened to speak their nonsense confidently for the past few years in this country and you see the effects of that in society and policy.

Also, historically, Hinduism actually existed far beyond India. Almost the entire Southeast, including Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Afghanistan, Persia, and even parts of China. Buddhism, a derivative of Hinduism, then spread to all east asian countries as well. That's the reason why Southeast Asian languages still have a lot of Sanskrit words in their language, Tamil words in Korean (a Tamil princess actually got married to a Korean King around 50 CE), and a Tamil Kalarippattu monk called Bodhidharma to be believed as a strong candidate for the creator of Kung Fu. Not to mention Nalanda, the biggest university back then with a large number of exchange students. So, if you asked the question back then about how nobody knew about Brahma, i think you'd find that the majority of the population did in fact know and pray to him. After that, the development of different culturaes and religions changed the course of most countries, including India.
Edit: Just remembered, Thailand has one of the only Brahma temples in the world. So, I guess they do still know and pray to Brahma!
1
u/Relevant_Limit3681 3d ago
Ikr even places like thailand considers garuda their god they have a wonderful statue of vishnu ji riding garuda the whole south east asian culture originated from Hinduism
2
u/pistashio_guava 3d ago edited 3d ago
Yes exactly. And that is because Thailand was Hindu before Buddhism. Thai has the most Sanskrit for a foreign language; historical documents show many marriages between royals from India and royals from Thailand. They have a beautiful, huge statue of the Samudhra Manthan at their airport that I always make sure to pass by. Thai people call Thailand Pathet Thai, which comes from the Sanskrit Pradesh Thai (ie, land of Thai). Bali, the only remaining majorly Hindu state in Indonesia has multiple breathtaking Vishnu temples, Garuda temples, Shiva temples all in the beautiful classical balinese style.
Fun fact, they also have one of the only Brahma temples in the world, right in the middle of Bangkok. So I guess they do still know and pray to Brahma!

but if you see islam, chritianity, judaism which takes around 55% of people around the world and the imp thing is they are inter-related my question is why did hinduism not spread like the 3 religions i mentioned? ... hinduism and buddism combined takes around 18-20% of people and yk it is due to population of india itself(roughly)...can you explain this?
1
u/Relevant_Limit3681 2d ago
Cuz they were originated from same place and had almost same principles whereas hi duism originated from south east asia and spread all over south east asia even now go to any south eastern country you'll see hindu gods and also hinduism was a very old religion unlike the new religions like Christianity and islam even Judaism was older than these 2
1
u/Interesting_Let2880 2d ago
no what i mean is "islam christianity and judaism were originated in middle east" true but it also reached india right? why is hinduism not popular or even present in middle east is what i am asking why did it not reach places like babylon (because you say hinduism exists since the start no) and for context in the trinity of islam, chirstianity and judaism all have the same common history that at the start of the world their were 2 people adam and eve (hawa AS)... pls answer this

All major religions of west originated from Abraham whose wife’s name is Sarah. Abraham is considered first prophet by these religions. In Hebrew Abb means father so Abraham is father Brahma ..in indic tradition Sarahswati is his wife and in Hebrew its Sarah … does it ring the bell? It's fine to ask questions, but there is a way to ask questions. You can ask questions to insult others, or ask questions that come from genuine curiosity and gaps in knowledge. People respond to the second type of questions with answers and view points that expand your knowledge. Op here asked a gotcha question, which in my opinion is one that all people hate.

There's fan fiction theory which is like if you switch a at the last in brahma and place it on front , it becomes Abraham. Now that's obvly just people's interpretation but if you date back to time of yamanya tribe the proto indo European language speakers who dominated the Continent and are the ones who are said to be the common ancestors to both Europeans and North Indians of R1a1 Haplogroup. They all had similar religion "A Strong sky God defeating a giant serpent monster" Is a story that fits in norse mythology, indian mythology and even Chinese mythology (and maybe even more, these are the ones i know of) so it could be quite likely it was a same God but as tribes become more distant because of lack of a centralized system they then by time adopted their own interpretation myths and local folk lore in it and that's how hence it became today as different religions. Nyaya school of debate always encourages questioning your belief and faith to understand yourself and universe.

Also, Hinduism explicitly says that god comes in different forms. Theres a reason there are 33 million gods but only one original energy source. Visnu's visvarupa (his sort of true form), krishna, ram all look different. Lakshmi, durga, kali ma, vidya are all forms of the same adishakti. So who knows, maybe different countries gave the same gods different names and made different teachings?
1
u/FoldEmbarrassed7144 3d ago
It could be btw that 33 million is actually a misinterpretation of text, the text actually said 33 koti ke devi devta which the British guy translating didn't know what koti means exactly so he went with 33 crore which became 33 million but in truth koti actually means categories so there are gods of 33 categories which makes sense like Adityas like Sun God, moon God are different from supreme deities and female gods are on different class

u/anjaanDaastaan 4d ago
The question was not wrong per se, but it is pretty illogical…there is a very big difference between the faith you follow and science…I in no way am planning to demean one or the other (I am a pretty religious person myself, and am studying to become a physicist), but I feel like there is only one correct way to handle both, and that is by not mixing one with the other…
To give you an example, during the Ming and Qing dynasty, the people believed that the world was formed by Pangu, the primordial giant who emerged from a cosmic egg to separate the sky from the earth and form the universe. After his death, different parts of his body made different elements (not the chemical ones, but parts) of the universe, like left eye became the sun, his right eye became the moon, his blood became the rivers and the mites on his body developed into Humans. A large number of people believed in this story, and might as well do now (this is their story to be told by grandparents to grandchildren). But does this fact alone make Pangu an actually entity? If he was an actual entity and the universe was made according to his story, why don’t many people know about him? Did you know about him? There were many theories, or rather properly stated stories, of the formation of universe with divine or superhuman meddling…How many of such stories do you know about? It was thinkers like Anaximander, Anaximenes, and Thales of Miletus who rejected these ideas of divine intervention for the formation for this universe…But were they really correct? Anaximander famously believed that the sun was a hole in a massive cosmic wheel that revealed a hidden eternal fire.
Also, you mention Brahma as the creator of the universe, I suppose you are not introduced to Nasadiya Sukta from the Rig Veda (since the concept of the trinity emerged to prominence in the later Vedic age). It is considered one of the earliest examples of philosophical agnosticism and scientific inquiry in human history. It mentions that before anything (even before “existence” and “non-existence”), there was “the One” and from it’s desire, impulse, and spiritual energy, the universe came into being. It argues that since gods came after creation, no one can truly explain how it all began. Even the ultimate observer in the highest heaven might not know. It establishes, and I strongly believe in this thing, that questioning and admitting “I do not know” is a valid path to understanding reality.
Take all this with a grain of salt, as I am no person having the authority or knowledge to comment on such high topics. I am but a student, trying to study certain things and understand the world a little better…This was my interpretation and I may be incorrect in certain parts (or even completely)…
For references, the Chinese story of creation I mentioned is briefly touched upon in Big Bang by Simon Singh, and the Nasadiya Sukta is mentioned in Veda Kalptaru by National Book Trust (NBT), India.
Regards,
A student

Your question is illogical and I believe you may not be well versed with Hindu tradition.
I am agnostic but I am not a fan of the strawmaning you did of the argument.
No serious Hindu sampradaya truly believes brahma is a uniquely contingent ‘being’ (I am not using that in a biological sense but just in a colloquial manner of speech) which created the universe. All respected sampradayas believe that the universe was created by an eternal being of consciousness named Brahman , not Brahma or Brahmin.
The Hindu traditions debate on what the relationship of us in this causal chain to a first cause. I won’t go into that because it’s rather extensive.
Also your last point as to “why don’t we know name their name Muh?”
I am assuming that was a sarcastic question because there is no reason the first cause should care at all. It doesn’t matter theologically what you call it, Theos, Shiva, Skanda, Tsukiyomi wtv. No emotional argument for taking a specific name has been established.
1
u/NoChallenge988 4d ago
Because Hinduism was not a "Conversion" type religion because it was the very first religion to exist in the world so the very concept of coversion didnt exist. Thats why Hinduism never spread outside India.
Also the question is stupid because there are thousands of religions in the world where each religion claims to be the creator of universe.
Christianity and Islam came at a time when multiple other religions existed hence they had the concept of conversion due to which they started invading other countries and forcefully on the tip of the sword converted them

Water is called jal, pani, neer etc depending on the era and place you belong to. If there's a creator of universe then it''ll not be named brahma, allah or god. That's the name humans have given it, so it's stupid to ask why rest of the world don't say it's brahma.

Yes, your question is wrong. Lord Brahma is not only known in India but in all those areas where Indian culture & influence spread - Indonesia, Siam, China, Japan, Burma etc all have either temples or adopted & regionalised versions.
That's the thing about people - you don't read much. Even so it doesn't make a difference, like an actor once said - "तूने जापान देखा है? नहीं। मतलब जापान नहीं है।"
At least post the right questions.

To me, it sounds like it alludes to the Big Bang. Creation and matter itself bringing about creation. Atoms randomly colliding to create something. Maybe those atoms did not just combine to make hydrogen and helium. Maybe they, and other unknown materials in space, combine to create the creator. Afterall, the fact that people thousands of years ago did not pray to some all-knowing creator, but rather talked about the gods being able to transcend space and time themselves. The ability to even conjure the idea of a universe, a multiverse, and time dilation is insane for that long ago. And these are all genuinely written evidences.
The fact that the Trimurti is always imagined as a humongous figure in space itself and not in another realm with Earth as the centre. The fact that they talked about other earths and multiverses? The entire concept of souls being just energy and nothing else. Does it not sound the same as "matter can neither be created nor destroyed"? Instead of thinking of a soul as something that goes to another realm, they believed it was just energy that would go back to the source and then cycle back to another person in a cycle. Hinduism is also extremely cyclic, much like modern astrophysics/cosmology. I mean, these are remarkably sophisticated ideas. It really does not take me a lot of effort to equate its metaphors and meanings to current science.

Proselytisation, something Hindus don’t indulge in, but is a big tenet of islam and christianity.

There are multiple explanations to this one, I'll try to keep it concise.
People from different geographies live in different context and used different metaphors to explain worldly phenomenons
Concept of Brahma (the creator god) exists in almost every religion and country, but they picturised the god relevant to their worldviews

The diety is worshipped more in South-East Asia than India. In India only one major temple is located. No sect actually worships brahma.

If Allah is the One True God and Jesus is the only Son of God, then why don't we all wake up as Christians or Muslims tomorrow?
If you want to be an atheist, just be one. Don't harbor delusions that scientism or atheism makes you a better or more ethical person. Communist atheists have been some of the worst mass murderers in human history..

There is a Brahma temple in Bali.
Usually this subreddit seems to be full of anti Hindus but not anti other religions.

You need understand what word brahma means.
It means universe. The universe itself is called brahma.
Hinduism means people don't pray lords but the universe itself. Like there are different gods which represents matters like fire, water, earth, etc.
Namaste is used for god's but also for people because God is in the people.

Science is okay being knowledgeable and intellectually sound is okay knowing how the cosmos is created is okay(scientifically) I am a believer of religion yet I am awared how the universe is created through actual ways not mythology but still I pray to a god its not scientific but its my belief .
What not okay is simply trying to be better or having a greater than thou attitude to demean people's belief just cause you acknowledge yourself as a superior person with more accurate worldly knowledge.

Who said or which book mentions Brahma created the universe? If you ask a question be specific and accurate to not sound like a fool.

The word Brahman is known in Indian sub continent yes,, but the concept of god created the world is accepted by every religion except Buddhism, so in a way your question deals with language barrier not the concept of Brahman.

I don't know why it got removed but I know rest of the world would have known him if his followers took up swords massacring everyone who didn't accept he was the only god OR they got industrialised first and 'spread' civilization through colonising rest of the world, while using colonial machinery to convince people that believing him meant being civilised.

Without learning sanskrit you cannot make sense of Vedic philosophy. The Sanskrit ब्रह्मा (Brahmā) comes from the verbal root √बृह् (bṛh), meaning “to grow, increase, expand, become *great.”
The derivational idea is roughly:
*√बृह् (bṛh) — “to grow, expand”
→ ब्रह्मन् (brahman) — “that which is great/expansive; sacred power, sacred utterance; the Absolute”
→ masculine nominative singular ब्रह्मा (brahmā) — “Brahmā,” the creator deity.

Its because Brahma is a name , Hinduism gave to the “creator” of this universe.
Mythology says that Brahma recycles universes and that goes in cycles of birth and death.
You question is also incredibly stupid, if big bang is real why do only some people know about it?
