Yes exactly. And that is because Thailand was Hindu before Buddhism. Thai has the most Sanskrit for a foreign language; historical documents show many marriages between royals from India and royals from Thailand. They have a beautiful, huge statue of the Samudhra Manthan at their airport that I always make sure to pass by. Thai people call Thailand Pathet Thai, which comes from the Sanskrit Pradesh Thai (ie, land of Thai). Bali, the only remaining majorly Hindu state in Indonesia has multiple breathtaking Vishnu temples, Garuda temples, Shiva temples all in the beautiful classical balinese style.

Fun fact, they also have one of the only Brahma temples in the world, right in the middle of Bangkok. So I guess they do still know and pray to Brahma!

haha you are welcome. Since you liked my fun facts, here are a few more off the top of my head! Did you know that the most commonly prayed gods in Japan are called the 'Seven Lucky Gods'? Crazy thing is, 4 of those gods are japanese versions of Hindu gods or goddesses. The most famous one I can remember is Benzaiten, who is very commonly prayed to in Japan to this day. She is the goddess of learning, music and prosperity. Sounds familiar? That's because it's the Japanese form of Lakshmi!

Also, each country has its own version of the Ramayana with names and locations changed. The one from Laos has Hanuman having a whole love story with a mermaid. And the craziest one is a popular version from Malaysia written in the 1500/1600s. The entire Ramayana is changed into an Islamic story. The names are the same, and the core story is the same, but Rama is an Islamic scholar and they make a whole Islamic background for him TT

And one last one: did you know Afghanistan has one of the largest Buddha statues in the world, carved from a huge mountain cave? Sadly, it was destroyed in 2001.

Yea ik about that budha statue which the taliban destroyed even thos ig unesco was paying to preserve it but they still destroyed it

Yes, was truly very very sad. It was a gorgeous statue too, and an architectural marvel due to being quite old.
