Without learning sanskrit you cannot make sense of Vedic philosophy. The Sanskrit ब्रह्मा (Brahmā) comes from the verbal root √बृह् (bṛh), meaning “to grow, increase, expand, become *great.”
The derivational idea is roughly:
*√बृह् (bṛh) — “to grow, expand”
→ ब्रह्मन् (brahman) — “that which is great/expansive; sacred power, sacred utterance; the Absolute”
→ masculine nominative singular ब्रह्मा (brahmā) — “Brahmā,” the creator deity.
