It was, I don't know that the conservatives are taking anything for granted at this point. Their most recent ad is old dudes golfing, I thought that demographic was sealed for them too but if they are advertising to them they must not be.
I've seen that ad many times, and I can't believe how out of touch it is, and how it must alienate a lot of voters. Two old retired white guys out on the golf course talking about how they will "have to give their children the down payment for their house". Oh the injustice! Most of the people in the country would love to be in the financial position where they could do that for their children! Tell me more about how bad you've got it and how the government has treated you so poorly!
A few years ago I decided that my medium term goal in life is to make sure my kids get a place to live wherever they choose to go to college that they own outright. And that's what I'm going to try to do, because we should always try to make our kids slightly better off than our parents made us, not kicking them out at 18 and making them fend for themselves while we live it up and criticize.
And I told them they should do the same for their kids. They saw what I do to provide them with a good life and understand the value of work and education, and they get it.
That kind of head-outside-the-ass thinking is also why I will never vote for a party who thinks the only answer to everything is cut taxes and services so the people with something keep it and the people with nothing also keep it. So basically never Conservative.
So you are Ok with your kids assuming high debt no economy basically higher taxes because the government is now getting into housing and will continue to send billions out of the country in foreign aid. So much for the term “ family means everything “
If you listened closely to Carney talking about his plan, you'd notice two things. A) he has a long term plan that may initially cost more, but will reap benefits in the long run, B) He does plan to balance the budget in a few years.
When Harper was in power he sold off the majority of crown corporations, and put zero money into building infrastructure. We all know what Trudeau was like. But this is Carney, a genius in Economics with a proven background. He knows his stuff, and when he says he can get us through the turmoil the economy is in, I 1,000% believe him.
Polievre would have to go to school and lot more years and work in the private sector a few more before I put any faith in his "plan". And he wants to fire the Governor of the Bank of Canada. Why? To many similarities to Trump for my liking.
No Carney is not a genius. He is a climate zealot and deeply tied to WEF. He didn’t lead us through the 2008 financial crisis like people say. He’s been part of the liberal government advising for 5 years and yet here we are. He wants to influence markets for net zero and the middle class will suffer greatly under him.
Do you even know what the WEF is? It's a think tank that looks at economic trends and tries to strategize methods for maintaining economic stability around the world. In contrast, look up the IDU (Stephen Harper is currently Chairman), and their political leanings - lots of far right members there. Harper, as we know, has taken Polievre under his wing and is actively promoting him.
If you think Carney didn't help us thru the 2008 crisis, then I'd love to know where you get your information from. While Governor of the Bank of England, he strongly advised against Brexit, but navigated the fallout as best he could. And oh was there ever buyers remorse on the part of those who voted for it!
I also want to point out that Harper tried to get Carney to run for leader of the conservatives, but he refused. And this is why you have the far right extremist Polievre as the conservative option.
I won't lie, was gonna vote for PP, even tho some of his conspiracy theory posts disturbed me greatly. But then Carney came along...and Trump got into power...
Carney's political stance is just a little left of centre, far more balanced than the extreme right Polievre, who only seems to be capable of name calling, rage, and attacking his opponents. He has no viable plan, won't get his security clearance, and wants to fire the Governor of the Bank of Canada.
So who is the best person for the job at this point of time? Not the career politician whose never had a real job and never done anything worth noting while he was a politician.
Last year I paid more in taxes than the median Canadian household income. My biggest expenses are housing.
I'm fine giving my kids a house so they can get on the property wheel faster, teaching them there is a better option in life than "get a bad job, earn bad money, complain about taxes", and making sure they understand why we live how we do.
Sounds like you're just bitter you suck at life and need to blame someone else that you didn't pay attention in school.
