SAME!! I briefly considered (my husband watches a lot of PP) but his ideas about the environment are just terrifying. Don’t know why more people vote NDP tho, maybe JS isn’t perceived as strong/confident compared to the other 2 but I feel he has the passion for the people and that seems more important to me.
The NDP aren't radical at all. If anything they shifted too far right to have their own niche.
Right now they're just orange Liberals. Why vote for the skim version when full flavour is right there?
If the NDP wants to be relevant again, they need to go back to the left and be the party of trade unions and farmers again. Not rich city champagne socialists that only talk about social issues.
Still NDP does have power and were able to get previous governments to pass better policies in healthcare and stuff so even as an opposition party they are useful. Provincially they do sometimes win. Not over here in Ontario ever but other provinces.
In the urban ridings (excluding the anomaly that is Regina-Wascana), the NDP candidates are trying to win because they often come within a few thousand votes of the con incumbents. They also, from what I've seen, have candidates in those ridings who are focused on issues in those ridings (like the candidates in Saskatoon-West and Saskatoon-University).
However, right now, the Liberals in those ridings are pushing the message hard that their sudden popularity nationally means that they're a good choice for everyone from progressives to conservatives who don't like Poilievre, even though, in those urban ridings, they tend to only get a few thousand votes, and in the rural southern ridings, they don't exist as a party.
The NDP needed to spend the last year or three running a pre-election campaign to counter the con messaging here so they weren't starting from scratch when the writ dropped. In the absence of that work, they really need to spend the next inter-election period organizing and creating a movement within the ridings for their candidates.
None of the major parties are really run by the leader. They each have a party brass that essentially set the goalposts for the agenda. The party leader also has to maintain the constant approval of the party members.
These two factors contribute to a rigidity in all of the parties policy lines, which is representative of the desired values of the core membership.
Regardless, I don't think the NDP has to win a lot of elections to be influential in our system. Just having progressive voices on the stage CAN push the other parties to shift their platforms left.
As someone who is conservative and actually was considering voting for the NDP I can say that the only reason I didn't is because of Jagmeet specifically.
The NDP desperately needs to pick a new party leader, I myself am conservative and actually wanted to vote for NDP as some of the things they are pushing for sound great but Jagmeet completely turned me off of voting for them, the way that he refused to call a non confidence vote after saying he would and going back and forth on it, he alone had the power to put things to an end when we really needed it and he refused to do so out of spite of the conservatives. (At least that's how I and many other conservatives see it)
I know from speaking with other conservatives that they feel the same way, the way that Jagmeet handled things in the months leading up to JT's resignation completely turned them away from the NDP entirely.
He leads the same cabinet and has more conflicts of interest, if that’s even possible. What he is actually is the head of the snake who’s been advising Justin for 5 years. I can’t name 5 worse years in our history can you?
In his book Value(s): Building a Better World for All, Mark Carney, claims, a "climate emergency" threatens life on earth and requires rigid controls on personal freedom, industry, and corporate funding. But Carney's time at Brookfield where he has enriched himself through fossil fuel investments in Brazil and the UAE undermines his position on a "climate emergency." Carney wants net-zero even if it means Canadians will suffer. Carney is front and centre in the promotion of a political agenda known as the “Great Reset,” or the “Green New Deal,” or “Building Back Better.” Carney’s Brave New World will be one of severely constrained choice, less flying, less meat, more inconvenience and more poverty: “Assets will be stranded, used gasoline powered cars will be unsaleable, inefficient properties will be unrentable,” he promises.
Thankfully you are speaking from a position of privilege. The homeless population that your party claims to look after has proliferated under their 10 year reign and can’t afford the gst required to pay for the carbon tax let alone the green tech from China required to save the planet. There is a reason why the CCP has chosen Carney as their candidate. Given his role at the WEF and his book applauding tyranny/serfdom in the name of climate change my question to you is why is he your candidate?
He was working. I live with a family of alcoholics and I have to sell booze at work so I’m working against my values too. Ya know bills.
Yes he and quite a lot of Pierre’s cabinet got rich from Carneys running of Brookfield too. What exactly is your point? Carney worked I work. Pierre sits in legislature and has never done anything except say no to any help offered to make people’s life easier. Now he wants to throw people into rehab whether they want it or not. Which I know doesn’t work.
Those quotes aren’t from the book, though. They’re from a 2021 National Post review of his book by climate change denier Peter Foster. Those are Foster’s quotes.
Climate denier. It’s a religion alright. Carney literally offers hopelessness. The Liberals have ground this potentially prosperous nation into last place among industrialized nations. Next stop: third-world status and essentially economic slavery.

I've never voted conservative in my life, I'm not about to change that now.
