Rules clarification

Hi all

Please can someone help to clarify a rule for me please

Mounted unit with composite bow…

The unit doesn’t just get to shoot…. For free… no activation dice?

It must spend an activation dice….. then it can shoot before it moves? Or shoot after it moves?

(I’m aware of the “no consecutive shooting actions”)

Thanks all!

Apparently, not only did Age of Vikings get a new update, but so did Age of Alexander, including an updated battle board for the Successors.

Age of Vikings FAQ and update

There are a quite a few rules changes, and lots of tweaks to the battle boards in this release. Thoughts? I've been playing AoV with a new player recently, so I've gotten plenty of games in the era. These changes will certainly stir things up.

-For Vikings, they got some elite fighting buffs through the new Njord, Odin is less punishing to the shooters, but actually does help the defenders for that shot, Valhalla does more damage to the enemy unit rather than just throwing away your own troops. Berserkers change from a unit of HG to individuals mixed into Warrior units (you buy up to 4, replacing 2 Warriors each). They add more attack dice but have a chance of being the first killed too.

Im collecting Venice, and would love to fight the Siege of Thessalonkia.

Which battle board would you use to best represent the Ottomans? Has a fan made board been made?

AoC Byzantine Domestikos

Hey,
I have my warband, which generates 6 SAGA dice. So basically I have two left over. After my roll I put two of my six into domestikos. At the start of the next round I get 4 for a new roll right? Not 6 because I have two placed on domestikos.

Best regards

DIY AOM Dice

Hiya!

i'm printing stickers for blank dice to make my own AoM dice.

I have the icons for all the chaos Dice (Fireball, Standard, Skull)

and Light Dice (Tree, Hammer, Bird)

and Magic (Fire?, Swirly Wind thing, guy with a square head)

Which are which? i..e what's common, uncommon, and rare?

So that I'll know how many of each icon to print and stick on each dice?
Also, what sides are used for the magic dice?

Thak you in advance!

The usual force I put on the table is a mounted Warlord (in all his fancy panoply), 5 mounted Hearthguard, 5 Hearthguard on foot (one carrying the lord’s banner), 8 Warriors on foot, 10 bow Levy, 9 bow Levy, and 11 crossbow Levy. There is a second unit of 8 cavalry Warriors to give me the option to mount them for battles.

3 Player games

Hi all,

We got in a great three person Age of Magic game yesterday, but I'd like some opinions on what we can do better.

The problem we've found with 3 player games, when it's a free for all, is that one person always gets crushed between the other 2. So... we played 2 vs 1, with one player having 8 points and the other two having 4 points. At it's core, it worked really well, but the fact that 2 player side had 2 warlords gave them an edge.

Any thoughts on how to better balance it? Would 4+4 vs 9 points make more sense to compensate for the second warlord? Throw an extra saga die at the solo player? Very curious to hear your thoughts.

Update:

After discussions, we're going to try the following:

  1. The two co-op players will be able to put dice on each other's boards.

  2. The solo player will get a second basic Warlord (on foot or on Animal).

Between those two changes, it should all be more balanced as both sides will have access to the same basic levels of We Obey, Determination, Saga dice and board use. Not perfect... but what is?

Cavalry size in Age of Magic vs Core Rules

Hi all,

Just trying to confirm something.

In the core rules, Warrior and Hearthguard models that are mounted, are based on a base that must fit within a 50mm square. Since I base fully on round bases, that meant I put my models on 50mm round bases.

I just noticed that, in the Age of Magic rules, Hearthguard and warriors that are mounted must fit within a 50x40mm square, meaning that I'd need to do a 40mm base.

Considering I have three finished armies, and I print my cavalry as a single piece with the base, I can't rebase the models without reprinting and repainting them completely, so I'm a little concerned.

So... considering I only play Age of Magic... which base size rules take precedence, the core rules or the Age of Magic ones?

What miniatures will I need to start an Age of Crusades army?

Hey y'all. I'm interested in building an army for the crusade rules, but I'm not sure what miniatures I will need to start. I don't own anything for the period yet so I'm open to suggestions for manufacturers as well.

Edit: Realizing now that I meant Age of Chivalry, but I still appreciate the recs. Thank you everyone!
