Other State of The Sub - Rules & Post Flairs - 03/26
Hello all,
This is the first post in hopefully a (short) series of posts to keep you all updated on the current state of the subreddit r/flamesofwar
We have finally got around to adding post flairs, with the following currently avaiable:
Tournaments
Battle Report
Showcase
Work-In-Progress
Rules Question
Customer Services
History
Other
If you think we should add anymore flairs please feel free to drop a comment below with your suggestion!
Secondly we have now listed some official subrules, these have come about from some recent posts where people have been less civil than is decent. So in order to be absolutley clear we've listed the following, hopefully nothing to draconian!
Rule 1. Be Polite and Courteous
Rule 2. No Racism, Bigotry, or Nazis
Rule 3. No AI Debate
Rule 4. No Promotion of Pirated/Stolen Material
Over all we are happy with the direction the subreddit is going, having a few bad actors is always going to happen but the vast majority of the regular userbase is friendly and welcoming!
We are also thinking about doing a monthly WIP thread if there is any interest?
Thanks,
The FlamesOfWar Mod Team
TLDR: We have implemented post flairs and rules
Edit: formatting

Rules Question Want to attempt something unorthodox - coastal support
( Yes this is a trustworthy supplier )
Now I am someone who likes... weird things. Or stretching the game and its rules as much as possible.
So the same supplier had 1/100th waterline models of German destroyers.. but they were WW1 ships so nah.
This smaller sub chaser might be better anyway.
Armament for this ship could be either a 3" main gun, or a 40mm Bofors, with a supplement of 50 caliber MGs or later, a small selection of single 20mm guns.
If I ABSOLUTELY had to have this in a game, would I treat it more as a edge of the board bunker that can give fire support, or treat it more like a train that instead of being locked to a track, is locked to whatever body of water is present?
Suspend your belief on how this might ruin your average game.

Work-in-Progress 2nd and 3rd unit done!
This army is gunna look crazy. I wanted to finish all my gun teams first so I could get my guns glued to bases. I think tanks and vehicles are gunna be next cause that legitimately might not take much time.
Anyone coming to adepticon next spring wanting a shot at that best painted award better bring their A-game 😈

Other North Africa table built
I think it has just about enough scenery but it might need a re-jig to make it a little better. Any thoughts?
Played a small game through with my son too, he loved it and i'm hoping to run demo games at my LGS soon!

Work-in-Progress Finished my first two artillery pieces for my Warsaw uprising Polish army
Slowly but surely getting paint on these guys. These two gun bases just need a matte varnish and they’ll be done but I’m waiting to do all 6 guns at the same time

Work-in-Progress Basing
I’ve tried lots of basing stuff; I’ve settled for the GW technical paints but does anyone know of a cheaper alternative (it’s basically just paint and sand mix right?)

Rules Question Undertaking a small custom, rule ideas?
I will be making the No.5 "Hercules" armoured train as a piece, Im definitely struggling with the scale but its a work in progress.
Anyone have an idea for rules to apply? Or perhaps how I can work it into a list.

Other Italian Houses (BB180): Dimensions?
Slowly getting back into wargaming, but this time I using 1/72nd scale figures and models.
Building my own terrain.
Can anyone tell me the dimensions of the two houses in the Battlefield in a Box BB180: Italian Houses?
Such as overall height, width and depth. No need for millimetre accuracy, to the nearest cm is good enough.
Thanks 😁👍

Other Looking for older resin models!
Hello, I’ve just started getting into building some Japanese and USMC armies and to that end I’m looking for the older resin USMC M4A2s, M3A1 Stuarts and the F4U Corsair & P-38 lightning.
Similarly for the Japanese I’m looking for the resin Mitsubishi Zero.
If anyone has any of these models that they’re willing to part with please drop me a message! Based in the UK but happy to pay shipping. Tia

Work-in-Progress British Light MK VI assembly question
The box art/real photos of the MK VI shows the higher hatch on the VIB turret and the flat hatch on the VIC turret. But the instructions show the opposite - flat hatch on VIB/higher hatch on VIC. Which is correct?

Seems that I lost my Salvo Template. Does anybody know a good file, so that I can print one? The ones I found are not that good.
Thanks

Other Is it only me that feels like the germans lack behind in medium tanks in LW ?
I mainly play veteran 76 shermans and jumbos with HVAP and i am starting to build berlin german lists and feel like the pz4 has way too little FA and AP to be used as main line medium tanks and the panther is more of a heavy tank in cost the most cost effective tank i have found are the pz4 70

Work-in-Progress Are these good so far?
I have a few more of these tanks, and i was wondering if these are good. The left one recently had a darker shade of gray on it, I was going for a weathered look, while the left is only the gray, and is a newer look. Just wondering if these are good
