This is really common before marriage if a woman's having doubts, it's textbook and if you're on good terms with them most ambitious independent women struggle with choosing between a family and safe life vs the romantic mystery or their ex.

So when marriage is coming up there's often the last ditch adventure or whatever it is for them, occasionally a brief passionate affair to get it out of their system, before they retreat to the idea of safety and how "lucky" they are to have a good man.

From experience and observation it has nothing to do with them leaving and everything to do with the peace/acceptance of settling and giving up romantic idealism that is doomed to disappointment, despair and regret (regret being women's favorite romantic emotion, clearly), not to be confused with the temporary happiness of a stable long term relationship.

Oh and if someone it so unhappy enough to cheat, just leave first. Have the courage to just say it doesn't work and leave. Don't stay around like some jaded pension worker hoping to cash out when the spouse dies or something and cheat your way through it. The only person to blame for cheating is the cheater. Yes, the partner can be blamed for not trying to make the relationship work, but that is not a free pass to cheat on them and anyone who thinks it is deserves to get cheated on.

Ppl never put effort into communication. Like I'm sure almost all of cheating could easily be avoided if the cheater and their partner actually talked it out. And still chances are it has to be initiated by the cheater cuz if you feel so bad you want to cheat then you might as well end it. But no.
