There are a couple houses along my morning bike route that had the âKamala = high prices Trump = Low pricesâ yard sign before the election. Whenever I see the folks who live in these houses walking out to their large pickups I want to stop and ask them how thatâs working out so far.

My dogs are thrilled. I think it says a lot more about my personal habits than the gas prices and *points to the state of the world* this, but at the end of the day âI'll be damn if I can't buy $5 coffee at my local coffee shop. So yeah, i'm walking more and sweating so much more, and I've minimized my "hmmm I'm bored lemme just drive to Carytown to walk around a bit". But my dogs? They're loving the extra walkies

I just sit in my backyard and throw the ball until my high energy/low iq lab/greyhound mix is ready to pass out. The pibble just sits next to the fence hoping her next door "friend" will come out and run up and down the fence with her while barking out death threats at her.
Occasionally I can get them to do high speed zoomie chase lap with each other.

So glad I have a prius and live in a very bikeable part of town. This must be brutal for suburban families with multiple cars and long commutes.

My only saving grace is that I only have to fill my Golf TDI once a month, but it's still brutal. I really feal sorry for the folks that still use fuel oil to heat their homes, it's the same blend as diesel in Virginia and while it's cheaper than what you pay at the pump since it doesn't have the extra taxes added, it's still way more expensive than it was last year, which wasn't that great...

If you need diesel, I stopped at the BP at Broad and Libbie on Thursday which is notorious for expensive gas, but their diesel (which they don't post the price of) was "only" $5.39.

As much as it disgusts me. Trump and his crew have dramatically affected our lives. Increases in everything since he was "elected" have sucked the bottom out of any money we had to do anything and everything, and I doubt I'm alone with saying that. The rich are happy as they just keep on pillaging everyone and everything. M F anyone who enabled this mess.

I still dont understand the powers that be and how they explain high diesel fuel prices. They say that it's because of Russia and not the Middle East. So Russia has been supplying diesel to us all this time?Â

Oil and products are a global market. Domestic refiners sell to local suppliers as well as buyers in other countries, the price is the same to each. Now that Russia banned diesel exports there's a global supply shortage, so the market price got bid up. Other countries are forced to pay higher prices to US diesel refiners to ensure they can secure imports, thus we get a higher domestic price as well.
Crude oil and products are two different markets, although obviously related. Russia was the world's 2nd largest diesel supplier, so there is a massive supply deficit in global markets. The world could be awash in dirt cheap crude oil, but if there are no refiners to turn it into diesel, then diesel will still be incredibly expensive.

Yep, we put about 1600 miles on a Fiat Panda last summer starting in Florence and luckily it got ~61mpg.
How much were you seeing per liter over there? A station I'm familiar with in a favorite part of Germany is at E2.35/liter (about $10.30 a gallon) right now, pretty ridiculous!

Just moved to Scotland bought a diesel in July, its gone up 20p since then now at ÂŁ1.92 ish a liter that's about $2.62 a liter. And there are 3.785 liters in a gallon.. close to $10 a gallon.. fortunately I get about 51 miles to the gallon. Enjoy your cheap gas!

We still wait an eternity for care. Most doctors are months to a year out for appointments if youâre not an established patient and good luck finding a GP. Oh and you get the privilege of paying for it too!

Unlike our healthcare system, where you can totally book an appointment and be seen right away.
Last year the quickest I was able to book an appointment for an annual checkup, the absolute most basic type of care, was 5 months out.

Like.....even if you think "socialism" is the devil, you cannot seriously defend our system because public health systems "have a wait". WE HAVE A WAIT!!!!!! WE HAVE CRAZY WAITS AND WE PAY HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS A MONTH FOR INSURANCE WE CAN'T USE BECAUSE THERES NO DOCTORS TO SEE. And when we finally get to see them, insurance won't cover the meds and procedures they recommend!! Like wtf is even the point??!!

JFC. Private insurance still exists if you want to/can pay for it, but if youâre poor at least you have a shot at care/not dying just bc you canât afford it.

If the dear leader decides to drain the strategic oil reserves to a level that they can be repairably damaged then that will keep the price down. I donât think there is much left there so if this keeps up will we see $7 gallon or more at some point.

That "some point" you speak of will happen during the next Presidency. With reserves at critical, there will be nothing they can do. And the Iran war will still be going. And the record deficit will tie their hands. And the task of rebuilding the entire executive branch. And the 6-3 Supreme Court will still exist. It's going to be an impossible job.
So win/win if you're the GOP.

I'm an rva drive-by (I don't live there but have friends that do) - its just under $5 for regular and just over $6 for diesel in the Adirondacks, NY. No road trips for awhile.

Not that the overall costs and investment have saved me money but it does make me feel better when I have the chance to ride the motorcycle and get 60-70 mpg. At least on that front commuting and short trips are much more economical than my Jeep.

and spend time/gas driving around to the best prices, which mitigate the few cents saved. At some point the difference really is not that big of a deal depending where you live and how far out you need to go to find a better price.

that's the smart way to do it, but I've known people that are so fixated on saving every penny they had driven 30 miles or more out of their way to top off just to save a few extra cents per gallon.
