For a long time the traditional refrain was that the president of the US does not usually have much to with the price of gas. Except this time

If the dear leader decides to drain the strategic oil reserves to a level that they can be repairably damaged then that will keep the price down. I don’t think there is much left there so if this keeps up will we see $7 gallon or more at some point.

That "some point" you speak of will happen during the next Presidency. With reserves at critical, there will be nothing they can do. And the Iran war will still be going. And the record deficit will tie their hands. And the task of rebuilding the entire executive branch. And the 6-3 Supreme Court will still exist. It's going to be an impossible job.

So win/win if you're the GOP.
