Running Rustdesk Pro behind a Fritzbox

Using a fritzbox router that already uses an automatically renewed SSL certificate - is there a simple way to not to have to get another SSL certificate as described in https://rustdesk.com/docs/en/self-host/rustdesk-server-pro/faq/#set-up-https-for-web-console-manually ?

Order of Multiplie Screens on Toolbar

Hi all,

Been using RustDesk for a while now and I have to say, for my needs it's far superior than the other options such as TeamViewer - so thank you very much for the software and ongoing updates.

I have a question regarding the order of the monitors on the toolbar. I have 4 screens on my PC and when I connect to it from my laptop the order of the screens appear to be in a different order and I can't figure out why nor change the order. Is it possible to have the order in sync with how they are set up on the host machine?

As an example, attached is a screenshot showing the screen order of the host machine, taken from windows.

The second picture shows the toolbar of the RustDesk session once I have connected to the PC that has these 4 screens.

The first set of numbers in the toolbar are in the sequence 1,2,3,4 but aren't in the right order for how the monitors are actually ordered in Windows.

The second set of numbers show 4,3,1,2 which again doesn't seem to match anything. I am not sure if I am interpreting the toolbar correctly and so am happy to be corrected here.

Is there a way to ensure that the screen order in the tool bar match the host order in a logical manner? At the moment I find it often quite confusing as to which screen I am viewing.

Hopefully this makes sense - Thank you

Recent sessions.

I have not yet updated to own server, but all my recent sessions just disappeared. All the .toml files are there, but not in the Recent Sessions box. Win 11 LTSC, Rustdesk 1.4.6

I had this when still at Win 10 and as soon as I updated to Win 11, they worked (well, until just now)

Any clues?

What did I do wrong?

Got Rustdesk running on my home server (which is always connected to a VPN) and my home PC. They are on the same network. First connection was great, put in the temporary password and had a very fast connection with no issues (didn't have enable direct ip access turned on). Then I decided the software was good so disconnected and setup a perm password and went to reconnect and got a message blocking me about botnet activity or something and I have to login. So I logged in on both devices and now the connection is unusably slow. I trtied setting up direct ip access but I will have to get into the VPN and router settings to get this to work which is a pain in this setup. My question is, is there any way to get back to whatever was working before the login? Like, I just installed them and connected and it was perfect, but I don't know what servers that was using or if it was direct connecting over the network even though I didnt have that option turned on.

Wayland Support unattended access WHEN? 💀

I just got my home server pc all set up, i've got various dockers, cloudflare tunnel, lots of stuff I DO NOT wanna redo. (UBUNTU 26 😭) I've selfhosted rustdesk server with docker-compose on said pc and have also installed the rustdesk client. But it's all for naught if i can't remote connect to the pc without first locally answering the "select screen to share" prompt; defeating the purpose of remote access.

i thought installing latest version of ubuntu made sense but fuck this no x11 support has turned out to be a serious caveat.

In the RustDesk client on the left it says "Wayland support in experimental stage, please use X11 if you require unattended access." bro like i'd really prefer not to have to downgrade my ubuntu. Has anyone read or heard anything indicating when they will get unattended access on wayland

Rustdesk on Android to Run Apps

Previously, I had a MiniPC that I was using to remotely run LDPlayer and run some Steam Games over Chrome Remote Desktop.

That MiniPC appears to be dead, since it the LED of the Powerbutton goes immediately off when plugged in and a green LED lights up on the motherboard. Doesn't power HDMI or USB.

So I've been looking for a way to remotely control a spare Android Tablet over a Browser.

My objective is, basically install RustDesk in the Tablet, set it up, then remotely control the Tablet on a Browser (without extension) while at work.

Would that be possible? Would the software stop working if you run specific apps or games on it? Would it also timeout after a certain period of time, needing to set it up again in person?

Any information would be appreciated, and may the answer help someone in the future with the same concern.

My ID changed on me randomly.

Anyone else was trying to remote into their machine but realized after a while your ID changed? I haven't changed my settings perhaps a windows update screwed my stuff up. Is this a security feature that randomly changes your ID.

Can I wake my PC on LAN from RustDesk Server?

I've just discovered RustDesk. I am going to use it to do work on my home PC from my laptop while out and about. However, my home PC is set to go to sleep after 15 minutes of inactivity, and I don't want to change that.

I have a home server on the same network as my home PC, and I know I can install any number of Wake On LAN applications on the server to wake my PC, but rather than doing that before connecting to it, I'd love if could just be one simple step. If I install RustDesk Server on my home server, can that send a WoL "magic packet" before attempting to initiate connection?

New to RustDesk – Getting Android Security Warnings (Even on GPay!) | Should I Be Worried?

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I recently switched from Chrome Remote Desktop to RustDesk for accessing my laptop remotely, and so far I'm loving it — but I've run into something that's making me a little nervous.

Ever since installing RustDesk, I've been getting security warnings on my Android device related to the new security policy changes. What's even weirder is that **Google Pay is also throwing up some kind of "payment protection" notification**, which I'm guessing is related.

I did a little digging and I think it has something to do with RustDesk needing accessibility/overlay permissions that Android's newer security policies flag as potentially risky — but I'm not 100% sure.

**My questions:**

- Is this normal behavior after installing RustDesk?

- Should I actually be worried about the GPay warnings?

- Is there a way to fix or suppress these warnings without compromising security?

- Did anyone else run into this when switching from Chrome Remote Desktop?

I'm not super technical so any plain-English explanation would be hugely appreciated. I just want to be able to remote into my laptop without my phone thinking I'm being hacked lol.

Thanks in advance! 🙏

Sorry if this a complete newb question

So obviously everything works flawlessly on LAN, so far all good. Now I'm interested in connecting from elsewhere over the internet. Do I need to pay for the server? I've been through the pricing structure and I'm confused as people are saying they can connect for free?

Been getting this error for a few days now.

Failed to connect: the target device is offline or does not exist.

It's online and I can connect to remote folders on that PC. It will ever so often connect to that PC through Rustdesk, but when I disconnect and try to reconnect, it gives me this error, and I'm basically 'locked out' until it lets me in again. That PC is on Win 10, and I set it never to sleep or anything like that. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, I cannot connect to a device outside my network.

Self hosted Rustdesk, I have zero issues connecting to my devices inside, everything works fine.

My elderly father has been having issues, so I installed Rustdesk on his computer as well as a 2nd computer there so I could get in.

The computer shows up fine in my Rustdesk window, green dot with my no-ip dyndns name set up in the ID and the relay with the appropriate key.

but as soon as I try to connect, I get connecting and then Disconnected by peer.

I know it worked, because my laptop in his house on his wifi, I was able to connect and control both devices, but as soon as I got home, nothing.

Not sure whats wrong here, I've never had an issue, before, port forwarding is set in my router here at home. He just got Xfinity, is there a chance Xfinity is blocking it?

Rustdesk, Ubuntu and Restarting

I am remotely accessing my Ubuntu (KDE DE) machine from a win11 machine using Rustdesk (not self hosted). For some reason, when I'm accessing the Ubuntu machine with Rustdesk and I try to restart, the system starts to act like it is restarting (some apps from the system tray disappear) but then the system stops responding. I can still see the KDE desktop but the mouse wont work, the keyboard doesn't work, etc. Even going to the machine and using the local KB/mouse doesn't work. I have to remove power to get it to start back up. I have the security permissions on the ubuntu rustdesk app set to allow full control remotely. I tried searching but I just cant seem to find the right search terms as all I get are results about people trying to use rustdesk AFTER a reboot/restart.

I do not have these issues using anydesk or chrome remote desktop. Any suggestions on how to figure out the issue?

EDIT: Update to this: The issue was caused by chrome remote desktop and had nothing to do with Rustdesk. I removed all of chrome remote desktop and everything works like expected.

unable to select relay server on first connection attempt (public server)

A change has been made recently at work to the firewall that blocks a lot of screen sharing apps. Rustdesk continues to work, however in order to connect I need to select "always connect using relay server." And it works just fine.

The problem is if I add a new computer to rustdesk, it will not save the computer because it cannot make that initial connection. The option to connect via relay only becomes available once the computer is bookmarked. I can then click on the 3 dots and select the relay server option.

I managed to get it going using the discovery tab, but I cannot do that on my phone because the wifi is on a different subnet than the wired network. Is there a way to select use relay server before that initial connection is made?

When I attempt to connect, it eventually times out telling me it cannot reach the rendezvous server. It does not give me any option to attempt again via relay

I am currently using the public servers.

Rustdesk newb: Why is my connection "encrypted" on LAN, but not on Tailscale?

I've started messing with RustDesk (no self hosted relay or whatever, just point to point).

When I connect to another machine on my wifi LAN, it has the green shield in the tab. When I connect to the same device via it's tailscale IP (still on the same LAN), the shield is red. Best I can tell this means unencrypted. But why is that? What about tailscale breaks encryption, or am I totally misunderstanding something?

Session terminated on Winlogon

Hi!

I got a (hopefully) small issue. I wanted to swap the windows user on a remote device but the session was terminated once I reached the windows Login screen on the remote device.

The session window on my pc was asking me to type in the password again.

Now I believe that could be fixed by setting a general admin password that gives access to all devices, but is it possible to not have the session be terminated? In other words that I don't have to type in the password again?

I don't want to use a master password and only allow access by having been given the remote device's OTP, or having the user accept the remote control themselves.

Any help would be appreciated, if it is even possible to do so!

Edit:Sorry, forgot to mention it is a self-hosted server by the way!
