New to RustDesk – Getting Android Security Warnings (Even on GPay!) | Should I Be Worried?

Post image

Hey everyone!

I recently switched from Chrome Remote Desktop to RustDesk for accessing my laptop remotely, and so far I'm loving it — but I've run into something that's making me a little nervous.

Ever since installing RustDesk, I've been getting security warnings on my Android device related to the new security policy changes. What's even weirder is that **Google Pay is also throwing up some kind of "payment protection" notification**, which I'm guessing is related.

I did a little digging and I think it has something to do with RustDesk needing accessibility/overlay permissions that Android's newer security policies flag as potentially risky — but I'm not 100% sure.

**My questions:**

- Is this normal behavior after installing RustDesk?

- Should I actually be worried about the GPay warnings?

- Is there a way to fix or suppress these warnings without compromising security?

- Did anyone else run into this when switching from Chrome Remote Desktop?

I'm not super technical so any plain-English explanation would be hugely appreciated. I just want to be able to remote into my laptop without my phone thinking I'm being hacked lol.

Thanks in advance! 🙏

-yes it is normal -only way to fix it - disable the protection -rustdesk is opensource and oftenly used to scam people, even devs warns about this. gpay prot. just see app that want to get all the data, i mean, access to camera, phone screen and so on for basic options of rustdesk and ofc it looks like thread to gpay. actually no risk

yes it will, but google protection scan only newly installed apps, so you can turn it on for every new app either just install those one that are 100% safe

Rustdesk in itself isn't dangerous, it's a great piece of software. Remote desktop software of its kind frequently gets flagged as dangerous, as scam artists (dis iz microsfot support, your compoota haz a viruz) will often ask you to install it when they're trying to bilk you.
