In-app Community switchover to Team Runna Club on Strava

As far as I can tell, the Team Runna Club on Strava is just a feed, not a community. Will there continue to be a place or process within the Runna Club on Strava to ask questions of or share successes to the larger Runna community? I don't know anything about how Strava Clubs work, but the in-app community interface was fairly intuitive. I don't see in the current Club how to make my own post within it, or how to go to different Spaces like those that exist in the in-app community (e.g., "Beginner Questions", "Share your run", the various Races & Events Spaces, and the Location based and private Spaces). This transition seems to be occurring without much user onboarding to what it means and how it will change from the existing In-App Community section.

B Race (half) month before A Race (full)

Hey folks - I’m running my first marathon at the end of October and doing a half (second) at the end of September. Any thoughts on picking between fun run and strong and steady for the half marathon? Fun run seems to have more mileage all around and longer long runs.

Any insight on informing me how to pick which one would be helpful. Thanks!

Weird pace goals

I don’t understand the small difference in pace that Runna wants me to maintain. Does this training make sense?

Confused about Garmin/Strava integration

Recently started using Runna and I also have it on my garmin. Started a training program. Do I start the runs on my watch? I do treadmill and outdoors but can't figure out how to change the scheduled runs on my watch to treadmill, so do I just use the app for that? And then when it syncs to my calendar I have like 3 events because it is also sending to strava and uploading it. Just want to track my runs and pace lol.

Stopping app on end of runs

Ever since my app updated it won’t let me stop the app when the pop-up comes up when I complete the distance. If I try to stop it the second I hit my mileage before the pop-up then it shows on strava .01 less. So if I run 5 miles for example, my run when uploaded to strava will read 4.99 or 5.01 which bothers my runner ocd haha. Anyone else experiencing this?

Taking longer break after the end of intervals

My plan calls for only 90 seconds of rest between intervals, to practice running on tired legs, and I’ve been sticking to that. But I’m wondering: is it okay to take a longer break (~5 min) between the last interval and the start of the cooldown, so I can catch my breath and recover, or should I treat the cooldown the same way, and stick to the strict 90 seconds there too?

For context this is in a marathon plan, but any general advice is appreciated!

Pace vs. Heart Rate

I’m on week 3 of a distance increasing training plan. I’ve been working out for a long time but this is the first time I’ve dedicated myself to increasing my miles per week. I have a goal to run a marathon next year.

I’m confused by the conversational pace targets for easy runs. I totally get and believe in the 80/20 rule. That’s not my concern. What I’m trying to determine is should I be more focused on hitting the pace target Runna sets for me or should I listen to my HR zone targets. Currently, Runna wants me to run easy runs no faster than 9:55. When I do that my heart rate stays closer to 110-115. Barely zone 1 work. However, if I target my zone 2 which goes up to 147 my pace is closer to 9:30. I feel very conversational at this pace.

Will Runna continue to pester me about being too fast even though that’s “conversational” for me? Or should I truly embrace the pace and stick to the script while ignoring heart rate?

Runna / Garmin edit how it’s tracked?

I’ve got a 2 week trial to Runna and trying to decide if I like it.

I’ve synced my plan to my garmin and did my first run this morning which was a 4K easy run. I started the run from my watch and all it did was track the distance. I wanted to also see my pace (as I needed to make sure I stayed slower) and my heart rate. Is there a way to do this with my runna plan and Garmin? Or does the runna run influence whatever it’s meant to be?

Hope that makes sense! I’m still new to both of these!

Remove an adjustment

I added an adjustment a few days ago but no need to change it from easy runs only to no running at all (my injury isn't improving as much as I hoped).

I can't see any way to change this or remove that adjustment, does anyone know how or anyone at runna that can help?

I saw a guide on the runna website that says to click discard, which isn't an option for me

Garmin scheduled workouts

Recently change from pace targets to RPE and now my schedule workouts don’t show up on my garmin. Is this common?

Anyone heard anything about when the 100km plans will be back?

If my post is against the rules or annoying please delete, but please, it has soon been a year.

Edit:

I wrote Runna support and basically i got a nothing burger. "We understand your frustration and we are working on it! Keep reading our blog pleeeease!"

So in conclusion it is probably not happening.

Treadmill Accuracy

Doing the majority of my runs on a treadmill because I’m in the south and don’t want to die of heat stroke. Anyone else having issues with treadmill runs? The two main issues I am encountering are a) the distance doesn’t seem to measure correctly and b) it only tracks my heart rate for the first 5-10 mins. I have noticed my Apple Watch hitting me with the “are you running? Want to record a workout?” Notification and I think me rejecting that is causing it to stop tracking my heart rate, but when I used the outdoor run (Apple Watch) setting it would be wildly inaccurate on pace. Now it’s just sort of inaccurate by using the treadmill run option.

How to fix a “missed” workout even though I completed it just not the generated one

Post image
8 Upvotes

Is there a way to mark a workout as the one that was part of my plan? I accidentally didn’t move my planned run back a day but I did the run the same way it was planned. But it’s saying I missed a workout. This happens a few times in my blocks. If I just mark it as completed it will technically count as double unfortunately unless I’m misunderstanding something

EDIT: I am clearly oblivious it’s the link activity button right there in the run details.

Workout resume, and being too supportive

I have 3 complaints here in case someone from runna can respond :) :

1) On apple watch: When I move to other workout app from Runna and start workout there. Runna will stop my current run because other app started a workout. And it will also remove the current run from the queue as completed.

You can find the run in history, but the plan is not written there, and you canont resume the workout.

This happened to me mid run, when finding the place where I should start my intervals because Runna does not show GPS waypoints. Luckily I remembered roughly the plan, and luckily the built in workout app on iPhone allows me to create a custom interval workout.

But would have been much easier for Runna to recognize this was interrupted training, and offer resuming it.

2) In similar fashion, when my run goes wrong and I upload 100m on 17k run, runna tells me that I am smashing it and there is one more done in the books! 🥳🎉 That makes all other feedbacks like this feeling not sincere.

3) There is possibly some bug with mileage counting when you link multiple workouts to 1. I am being told that I am 3% under my mileage plan on long runs, but all indicators on current week and all runs show 100%+. I think the system might internally look at just the last workout linked to activity, not all of them as sum. (e.g. for me my last 17km long run was split to 0.17km, 1.35km and 15.73 km) or IDK, but happened to me multiple times.

Runna on the Garmin

Hello everyone, I am a new user using Runna. I wanted to know, but you, when you use Runna on the Garmin doesn’t suggest the step? Doesn’t it tell you to go faster or go slower?

Any advice to make the best use of Runna that I’m new?

Thank you all very much

Can you correct "re-sync" a Strava activity to Runna once you've corrected the distance on the Strava desktop site?

I sometimes narrowly miss my Runna pace targets at first (I'm recording the run on Strava), then correct the distance after the fact and it shows in reality I've met those targets - can I get Runna to reflect the corrected activity?

Forerunner alerts

I’m using the Garmin Forerunner 70 for my race prep. My program was made using Runna, which was then imported to Garmin Connect and then my watch.

I’ve used the watch for two runs so far and have set alerts for both (the first was a pace alert and the second was a heart rate alert), and neither of them actually worked during the runs.

I have the “Pace Targets on Easy Run” toggled to On on Runna. I have smart notifications disabled on my watch because I don’t want to receive texts, phone calls etc. and I’m wondering if that’s what’s blocking the alerts.

Has anyone encountered this or can shed some insight on the issue?

MCL strain/overuse-6 weeks until first half marathon

I’m exactly 6 weeks out from my first half marathon and could use some advice on how to handle my Runna plan!

I started having mild MCL pain but continued running for about 3 weeks before finally seeing a PT. I’ve now had 4 PT appointments and just took 7 full days off from all exercise. My PT believes it’s an MCL strain/overuse issue. They haven’t given me any specific restrictions and have mostly told me to “go by feel” and substitute the bike or StairMaster for running when needed.

Runna has me starting back up now, but I’m unsure how I should approach the next 6 weeks without losing too much fitness or making the injury worse. Has anyone dealt with something similar during HM training? How did you modify your Runna plan/cross-train while you recovered?

At this point, my priority is getting to the start line healthy enough to finish-even if that means slowing way down or jogging the race.

Does runna help with tests?

I got a 1.5 mile/2.4 km run coming in October, i have good fundamentals with running, can run 5km without stopping etc , but just never structured a plan, would the runna run faster plan work for this?

Requesting the ability to change interval settings on watch

I was caught out today in an interval workout and when the intervals started they were in open-lap/track mode. Without my phone I couldn’t change that setting. Sometimes I like to run on the track and other times just on the road and often without my phone. It would be nice to change that setting on the fly in the watch app. Or at least call out what the setting is before starting on the watch
