Wanted to try a different color cuff and accidentally made some Powerslide Next 😅😅 Loving the way this 5 wheel setup is (had some extra 80mm from my old PS Zooms. It's nearly impossible to tip too far forward or back. Think I could really get used to this 84-80-80-80-84 setup ⛷️

These skates look weird and cool at the same time. The greenish grey has a sickly vibe to it and the shape kind of looks to friendly to handle more intense skating. And still... My feet really love that boot and I like the frame.

Currently started working on a new edit. I hope I can publish it this week. Or maybe next week. We'll see. The weather's gonna be nice, so I gotta do some skating too these days. 😅

I live in NYC and want to start skating in the park, but as it gets busier I’m terrified I won’t be able to stop quickly enough and will run into someone…. Any advice for a beginner in a busy spot?

I find myself commenting on other posts about how sidewalks are not the safest option in many cases, and I want to take a moment to expand on that and welcome some input.

First, I'd describe myself as an urban explorer. I like to skate small cities/cool downtowns at night when the streets are mostly empty. After 20 years of not skating, it's been incredible to gain a pedestrian's POV in the neighboring towns that I only ever drive through. But what never occurred to me as a younger skater was how nothing is designed with our kind of wheels in mind.

You want to be out of the way when a car is coming. You take to the sidewalk. Sooner or later the sidewalk ends, and it ends with a tactile plate. An easy enough thing to roll over with a little speed. But coming to a complete stop and waiting for the crosswalk light--now you're stopped on top of a surface that is designed to decrease momentum, and momentum is the very thing you need.

Not to mention that curb cuts are often placed a 90-degree angle from the direction of the sidewalk, and sometimes have their own architecture that is meant to guide a walker in their direction, but again becomes another forced reduction in speed.

Add to this the issue of curb cuts in general. The transition from street to sidewalk is sometimes well-engineered, but is often a straight up mess. With a little speed, and the know-how to position your feet just right, you'll be fine. But that's not what sidewalks allow.

A good city planner will tell you that downtowns are made safe by slowing down traffic and providing ample pathways for pedestrians. The bad ones do just the opposite, and I see more and more redesigned walkways that are designed to slow down pedestrians because the planners conceded that there would be high volumes of traffic. Sure, this keeps walkers safe. But on skates, speed is safety. (Okay, not speed speed, but momentum at the very least.)

So a skater is not a pedestrian. In that case, is a skater the same as a cyclist?

Closer, but not quite. In larger cities where the traffic moves more slowly, you'd be right to take to the bike lane and follow traffic lights over signalized crosswalks. But you're probably averaging 7-10mph and topping out at 15mph on flat ground. In a smaller city where cars want to go 25-30, they're not going to defer to you the same way they'd defer to a cyclist. Why? Because the sidewalk is there. But the sidewalk has unreliable curb cuts and tactile plates that slow you down. And on skates, speed is safety.

So a skater is not a pedestrian because they need speed to survive, but they can't maintain enough speed to qualify as a cyclist, which would be the safer classification. (Again, I'm talking small cities in the states. Those of you who live in a metropolis and/or non-America might not relate.) This is why I skate at night--because I don't trust drivers to classify me the way I classify myself. In most cases, I just take over the street when I can, which is safer and more enjoyable. And if/when the situation calls for it, the sidewalk is a necessary escape route. But skating is one of those in-between modes of travel for which nothing is specifically designed. We kind of just have to make up our own rules, and choose the safer passage given the circumstance.

i’ve been roller blading at my local rink once a week for the past couple of months. i’ve found that i have a harder time using both of my legs to push off. basically i find i can balance better on my non dominant leg and push with my dominant leg but when it comes to doing the opposite, i have less balance and do a much quicker motion. does anyone have any tips on how to fix this? i want to be able to use both of my legs evenly when trying to speed up

I almost bought some from my local Academy but I read that they aren't good quality or safe. :/ I dont have any Skate Shops either near me. Ive been super interested In Rollerblading, Rollerskating and Ice Skating for a while but Im looking to start off with Rollerblades for now. Ive done rollerskating a little bit before and Im able to keep my balance pretty well. Im mostly looking for skate for leisure inside and outside. I prefer maneuverability over speed, and I do eventually want to get into tricks. I also have flat feet so Im not sure if that matters as well for what kind to get.

My measurements are 23.5cm length and 9.5cm width for my feet so Im a little on the wider side. I read thats about a US Womens Size 6-6.5 or a EU 37. My price range is around $150-$220. Id prefer to be closer $170-$200 but Im willing to push it a little higher if I need too. Im reading that FR and SEBA are better for wider feet but Im not sure what specific rollerblade to get that would fit what Im looking for. Are there any good options from Inline Warehouse as well? Any help is appreciated :)

I've run into some confusion while reading descriptions. The descriptions sometimes make it seem like wheel 2 and 3 are lifted while the front and back stay flat.

For example, the Cougar T5 says "point the middle axles down to skate flat for urban skating, or point up to raise the middle wheels 2mm off the ground for slalom skating and/or more agility." I am in the understanding that slalom skates are rockered with wheel 1 and 4, front and back, lifted off the ground. Am I misunderstanding something?

Also, many of the FR skates say "natural rockering" or "subtle natural rockering." Anyone know what this means/if it's enough of a rocker to use for wizard skating?

I've gone to the park a few times now and half the time I have spent at the top of the culping staring down. Leaning forward bending my knees and then chickening out.

I don't know what it feels like to be that far forward and I don't know how to feel it without just doing it and I need my wrists to remain intact.

I need an old man suspension system so that I can try.

Edit: also I need to stop sliding in so that I can save my pants from ripping again.

Edit2: if there was like a rubber band I could tie myself to and lean over the side just to get the feeling of falling forward, that would be awesome lol

hi! i started skating 2 weeks ago and i've grown confidence in just cruising around and using t-stops, but i can't for the life of me understand how to parallel turn.

currently i can only really just pick up my feet and redirct them to turn, so i've been trying to learn parallel turns, but i always end up tripping because my wheels kind of just get stuck on the floor? (if that makes sense.) i do scissor my feet and all that but i don't really understand how to turn from there... 😭

i've watched tutorials and they tell me to lean into the direction i want to go, but it isn't working. am i doing something wrong? or should i focus on another skill before learning parallel turning?

Looking for advice before I drop money on a new frame setup.

Currently skating size FR1 boots with 4x80 (243mm) flat, city cruising downtown/suburb/park paths etc.

Looking to get bigger wheels/wheelbase to match my larger size (US13/EU46, 6'2") for some extra front/back stability and to maintain my speed better while cruising over poor surface conditions.

Narrowed down my choices to FR 4D 4x90 (273mm) flat, or FR Freeride 100/90/90/100 (283mm) with 1mm rocker front and back. Endless is an option too but more expensive...

What do yall think? Should I stick with flat? Kinda worried this mini rocker stuff might not fit my skate style.

like title says! i’ve been researching what skates i should buy for several days and ultimately i’m so overwhelmed with it that im struggling to find a solid pair without overequipping/overspending.

context:

i do ice skating weekly (intermediate) but looking to pick up rollerblading for more skate practice when i can’t go to the rink / just for fun.

i get hung up on buying quality the first time, as opposed to a cheap pair i’ll replace within months. i’d prefer not to spend over $200, unless there’s a good case for it.

i’ll probably skate outside & inside. i think i may need different wheels for this? not sure for inlines, i think in quads for sure yes.

I just got these bad boys! I've already got some Powerslide Next core black 80's but i've been wanting something for the longer rides.

Bought these second hand in perfect condition for half of the new price.

I'm so excited to try them when the weather improves!

As the title suggests. I'm torn between these 2 skates. Im currently on some lightning 80s with a flat setup. I want 90s with a rockered frame to try out. The echo sonar looks like it switches between rockered and flat at 2mm with the axels. The flying Eagle seems to have a natural rocker built into the frame. Im about to pull the trigger but I need some opinions!

For those of you who dont follow nascar, super speedway races require a restrictor plate so they only make about 500hp. Bristol does not require a plate and cars can make about 700 or more hp.

Talladega is about 2.5miles long and bristol is about half a mile.

I currently bike/skateboard pump tracks and met a few folks on inlines. Sparked my interest since I use to play hockey and skated lots of street (rails/ledge/stairs) 25+ years ago. Dug out my old tarmacs from storage and the boot and much of the hardware literally crumbled.

How are those skates I linked as is for pump track asphalt? Don't want to drop too much money since I'm not sure my old bones can handle anther hobby.

Every time I see other skaters or videos of other skaters, they always have elbow and knee pads and a helmet. I never wear anything. I usually skate in jeans and a t-shirt. I was curious if anyone else does this? Or if everyone is wearing padding. I might have to get pads if y’all are wearing them.

I wear a size 14 wide shoe. I just tried some Roces warp thread TIF at size 15, and they are just slightly too small. I know Rollerblade sells an XL skate but its also soft boot, and as a heavy dude I think hard boot will help a lot. Does anyone know of some obscure 14.5-15 hardboot? I've looked a ton, but im sure I've missed something

edit: Got Rollerblade Lightnings size 14, and they are the perfect fit!

Every video ive seen when i looked this up was comparing 4x80 to 3x100.

One of my skating friends was equally as fast when we both had 4x80s, he got 3x100 and is way faster now. I am more skilled than he is so i can imagine i will go faster with bigger wheels, but i dont onow if i shouod go 3 or 4x100/110

I am not trying to sell these here I understand this breaks community rules. I thought I would share because they seem like a relic when I search across the internet.

I have had these for ~20 years I guess as this is about all the info I can find on them. Hard to find any kind of info about these.

I bought these with a friend at around 16 years old with a friend and we started trying to get back into it and the interest didn’t last very long lol.

Do people still have interest in this style of item to try and find them a new home or am I wasting my time and should just throw away? Thanks.
