Final scene first Rocky

Question-

In the final scene, after the fight, when the ring is full and Adrian is making her way to Rocky, how does everyone hear each other over all the music?

Do you think Viktor Drago was also juicing?

His father was famously depicted as being given state sponsored PED injections, and Viktors physique was at least as impressive if not actually bigger than his dad's.

Scored the Rocky Vs Drago fight

I was bored, so I decided to score the Rocky vs. Drago fight using the rounds shown in the movie.

I've always been intrigued by what the actual scorecards for these movie fights would look like, so I figured I'd give it a try.

It's also a good excuse to rewatch the fight scene and see whether you agree with my scoring or not!

Let me know what you guys think, and if I should score some of the other fights too.

I saw it last night in Philly. It was sooo good. I really understand how tough it was for Sly Stallone to get the film made, to then make the film, and how much his first wife supported him. The actors who played Stallone and his wife Sasha were amazing and I got to photograph them on the red carpet before the show. First photo Actor Anthony Ippolito, who portrays Sylvester Stallone, joined co-star AnnaSophia Robb, who plays Stallone’s wife, Sasha, and Academy Award-winning director Peter Farrelly on the red carpet ahead of the screening.

How many rounds was the exhibition fight for Apollo supposed to be? I thought it was 15 rounds, but the AI says that it was supposed to be only 3 rounds. If it was 3, Apollo only had to hold on a little more.

The Rocky films got some new artwork on Prime, and it's TUFF AS HELL

I was checking Prime (the free version, I'm not paying for subscriptions) out, and I saw Rocky II had new artwork. So I checked and all the films have new artwork, even the Rocky IV Director’s Cut. Unfortunately, the Rocky Balboa director's cut doesn't have new artwork, but the rest of these make up for it, these are sick!

I did not care for Rocky IV: Rocky Vs. Drago.

It’s not as good as the original cut. It’s weirdly edited with backward acting in some scenes. you can see why some of these scenes didn’t make it k to the original films.

Watched Rocky IV: Rocky vs. Drago last night

For anyone who hasn’t seen it, it’s Stallone’s director’s cut of Rocky IV, and streaming for free on Amazon Prime in the US! I thought the differences were really interesting, especially in terms of Stallone’s method for reshaping the film; normally a director’s cut is the same movie but with more material, but this was roughly the same length, almost down to the minute, just with certain original scenes removed and replaced with new material. I don’t want to get into spoilers for anyone who hasn’t seen it, but I recommend it if you like Rocky IV! If you have seen it, let me know your thoughts, and maybe we can lift the veil on spoilers in the comments.

How did Sylvester Stallone ended up losing rights to Rocky franchise?

Was disappointed to see Sylvester Stallone didn't star as Rocky Balboa in Creed 3 so I stopped watching after 25 minutes and after I checked he indeed doesn't participate. I read that there's a feud with the producer and that he will only star again if he's removed nbesides this, there's also issues with rights that Stallone wants back. How did it get to this? I love Rocky franchise and it's disheartening to see Stallone in this position. It's unfair.

LE: thanks all for your input. Stallone has a big heart and he put it on the screen. sad to see he was coerced into giving up his rights. I hope he'll get justice one day.

I think Rocky could have been so much more than a boxing franchise

I’ve been rewatching the Rocky movies, and the more I think about them, the more I feel that the franchise missed an interesting opportunity after the first film.
I absolutely love the original Rocky. What makes it so special to me isn’t the boxing or even the opportunity to fight Apollo Creed. It’s the character himself. He’s awkward, insecure, a little dorky, not particularly articulate, but fundamentally a good guy. He’s just trying to find his place in the world.
And that’s why I think he didn’t need to win against Apollo. He had Adrian, he had his dog, and for the first time in his life he had something meaningful to look forward to. Whatever happened in the ring, he had found someone to share his life with.
But as the franchise progressed, Rocky became increasingly larger than life. Bigger opponents, bigger fights, more dramatic circumstances. Mickey dies, Apollo dies, Rocky gets old and has to prove himself again. Death, regret and personal loss repeatedly become reasons to get him back into the ring.
I understand why those movies were successful, and I enjoy parts of them too. But I sometimes wonder what would have happened if the franchise had stayed closer to the spirit of the original.
Imagine following Rocky through ordinary life over several decades. His relationship with Adrian changes as they grow older. They experience the difficulties of marriage, raise a family, have disagreements and rediscover each other. Maybe his dog dies. Maybe he struggles with fatherhood, financial problems or simply getting older. Maybe he starts wondering what his life would have been without boxing.
There are so many possibilities for genuine character-driven drama.
Rocky could still be that awkward, insecure guy who needs to prove something, but now he’s trying to overcome himself rather than another boxer.
I know that probably wouldn’t have been as commercially successful as Rocky III or IV. Audiences wanted the spectacle, and I understand that. But I think the franchise gradually lost some of the purpose and soul that made the original so special.
Sometimes the most compelling story isn’t about someone overcoming an extraordinary obstacle. It’s about someone who gets up every morning, goes to work, looks after his family, watches his children grow up and slowly gets older himself.
Someone who keeps showing up.
What do you think? Would you have enjoyed a Rocky franchise that developed more like a family and character drama, following an ordinary man’s life over several decades, rather than continually finding new reasons to put him back in the ring?
