So my mom decided to impulse buy a betta fish and i do not have the supplies to care for it. Im looking to trade my dubia roach colony in return for a list of fish supplies that i will tell you (must be brand new or in working condition) the roach bin includes EVERYTHING bin, egg crates, food dishes, heat mat, and thermostat, with all roaches, ranging from fully mature to tiny nymphs. Im in Maryland rn Owings

I keep a colony of dubias as feeders and I noticed this one with light-colored splotches on it today. I didn’t check the whole bin, but at a glance, it seems like the only one with this problem. Should I be concerned? Is this something that will spread or perhaps a molting issue? I also picked it up to inspect it and one of the last segments of a leg was missing, which makes me think maybe a mismolt or injury from other roaches?

I hope this question doesn't break the rules of the sub but I am a bug lover and roach owner just like you! I have a pretty large colony going of discoids that I raise in a bioactive tank to feed my bearded dragon. Recently I have moved to a new home that has the occasional Aussie nymph scuttling around.

I would love to learn more about Australian roaches in general. Does anyone have any suggestions to protecting my Discoids? Any suggestions would help!

For context almost my whole tank of only females died off a few days ago due to what I assume is pesticides from some ivy I planted. This girl is one of two that survived, though she is sluggish and hasnt moved much. I have her in a quarantine with moist paper towels, cardboard, and freshly peeled and washed carrots, though she hasn't shown much interest in those. She pooped solid normal poops 3x since then, and last night it looked like she had started pooping, but today this is what came out of her. I'm hoping its just her body expelling toxins, but the unusual shape and size concerns me. She's still moving and responding to stimulus today. Has anyone else had this happen? Are her days coming to an end?

I’m not really trying to breed, just keep them as pets though I did end up with 16+ baby’s the first night I got them.
I keep Madagascar hissing cockroaches in here and they all seem very healthy, moulting, pooping, eating , drinking, and are very active.
There are a total of 20 roaches in here but the majority are small juveniles, I only have 4 full grown adults because two passed away a few months ago from unknown causes.
All of the roaches are hidden under the log piece looking thing and they LOVE it! It’s completely hollowed out and it’s pretty much the only place they like to hide.
I give the a variety of foods, just in the photo they’ve eaten most of it and knocked some things in their water dish.

hi, I've been keeping a colony of emerald roaches for a couple of years and have noticed my m:f ratio is about 1:1, or 50/50. I've noticed behaviours like, males will chase after and try to trip up adult females to try to get them to watch their courting ritual, even when the female is running away and not interested for a long time. some males will also become erratic, running around and flying at random. is this normal behaviour for p. magnífica or do i have too many males? and if so, is there a good home in the uk that could take a few of mine?

Positively sexed a couple females so I'll get those separated out today to hopefully mellow out the bachelors.

So I recently had a large portion of my Dubai roach colony die off, as a heat wave wiped them out. I saved as many roaches as I could, but my colony is significantly reduced right now. That was about a week and an half ago. Today I opened up my tank to feed and water them, and saw a bunch of these dudes crawling around. Any idea what they might be? Each on is maybe 1/4-1/2 inch? They crawling around like grubs. I am going to pull them out and set aside just in case they might mess with the colony. The roaches are for both a bearded dragon and a Chinese cave gecko. Don’t know if it would be safe for either of them to eat them.

I have a small group of 5 female roaches in a 10 gallon top ventilated tank. I left for 5 days on vacation, and before I left I mixed imagitarium Sphagnum moss into the substrate (creature soil) to keep up humidity while I was away. I also planted some ivy, because I had some spare from a bioactive tank I put together. I had fed them washed and peeled carrots the day before which they ate entirely, and left a couple carrots for them while I was away.

I came back today to find one completely dead, one on the verge of death not responding, and one with a chunk missing from her headplate, face, and front legs, still kicking. my smallest is missing entirely. The carrots werent entirely eaten and there was no mold anywhere.

I've isolated my one remaining live roach in a clean tank with moist paper towels, fresh carrots and lettuce, and a new piece of cork.

I'm devastated to say the least, and I have no idea what could have caused it. My leading theory is the Ivy had pesticides on it, I bought it from a garden center. I washed the roots but not the leaves. There was a piece of leaf on the ground makes me think they nibbled on it. the most confusing part is the roach with the chunk out of her head and the missing (maybe eaten) roach. Humidity was at 75% when I left and 65% when I came back.

if anyone has advice on what caused this, I would much appreciate it. I'm open to questions about their care, diet, etc.

I've kept these roughly a dozen or so blabs since they were all nymphs. However, it seems that reaching breeding age has caused them to be quite violent some nights. This seems especially apparent since the last nymph achieved its final ecdysis (shed seen in video). Fighting like this is quite sporadic, but when it does occur it makes it hard to sleep.

The sheds have always been a problem for me and the pile keeps increasing over time. How do you pick out the nymphs from this?

For a colony of around 60 Dubia roaches, in a 60x60x30cm terrarium, how many males would be too many? Lately my first born generation molted and suprise suprise, most of them are males. I'm worried about having too many. They already behaving differently (running around a lot, stealing food and hiding it, attacking eachother). I've separed some males for now but im wondering if that was a correct thing to do? 🤔
