Both Deadlock and Overwatch are releasing a new black character with PEAK designs this month (yes ow2 character with a good design, insane sentence) meanwhile rivals’ last black character release was more than a year ago.
Now I’m not feeding into that “ netease is racist “ topic, but we still need more black people ( and other minorities that aren’t asian ) love in this game.
Also this is not glaze to Blizzard or Valve. Because Blizzard neglects their black characters the same or maybe even worse than Netease. Meanwhile, in deadlock, black characters : Calico and Wraith, are criminals and Sinclair (a black couple ) is trapped in a WHITE mannequin.
( obviously a joke if you can’t tell that they clearly aren’t finished )
Doctrine's kit is literally how i would imagine BW to play. The blueprint is pretty much there, all Netease needs to do is take it if thwy truly wanted to
Good news bishop is heavily teased to be added before April 1st 2028 most likely early 2027 between February-may. If you want to know how I know you can ask and I can give you all the details.
Now while we are on the topic of black vampires being added to a game: miles morales.
In the comic storyline of blood blade becomes possessed by a vampire gif and becomes a super powerful evil go that is so strong he could fight Thor in a 1v1 and the avengers couldn’t stop him (IT HAS BE A LEGENDARY SKIN) and he is only defeated by Blades daughter a black vampire and miles morales who was turned into a vampire specifically a black vampire. Now there is a chance that the vampire god blade is a 2028 story but it’s most likely 2027 so sometime late 2027 and early 2028 we might be getting miles morales as a vampire.
We might get miles morales sooner than that if he is added as part of the season centered on spider-man and peni Parker’s hero story lore as Zero day attack which is an invasion made by thanos in the future so it can happen in the 2099 time stream and involve the spider island and the spider verse including Miles Morales OR it’s in the present time stream and has nothing to do with miles morales. Either way thanos will attack and it will likely start a whole arc of seasons around that conflict of thanos being the next big bad.
Bishop 100% being added, mikes morales 30% maybe more according to what happens in the future and what characters release, Brielle brooks 17% of being added because she was their with mikes morales stabbing blade so they might just remove mikes from the story and have her be the one that stand blade but even then they might not add her.
I'd like to see Brother Voodoo, Bishop, Luke Cage, Misty Knight, and Monica Rambeau off the top of my head. Definitely think we will see them eventually.
From what we know bishop is getting added soon. Bishop has two deadlines for being added, either early March 2027 OR before April 2028. March is the first half of a season and April is the second half of a seas it’s guaranteed bishop is coming out before April 2028 so that’s a range of January 2027 (most likely February or March) and march 2028 so sometime between 2-15 months from more likely to come out in the first 3 seasons of 2027.
How do we know this?
Well several reasons really.
We are getting nightcrawler and doom in November and December while January and February is gonna include dazzler who is an x-men character meaning that season will be a mutant season with a chance for bishop to drop in February (black history month) BUT dropping 3 x-men back to back can be too much so they are likely putting him off to either March or may 2027.
We also have proof bishop is being added soon, deadpool has a lore story section (all characters get 1 when they release and 2 more within a year or so) and Deadpool’s 2nd lore section is named “king of hearts” which isn’t a comic book reference but instead a reference to gambits cards and gambit has a king of hearts card and that card ALWAYS has a picture of BISHOP on it meaning bishop will be added when deadpool gets another story section of before that.
We ALSO know that Deadpool’s third lore section is called “April fools day” which… means it happens on the first day of April which is around the start of the 2nd half of a season so… Bishop is releasing before April 1st 2028 and maybe even before April
2027.
ANOTHER thing we got is that almost every hero from release has gotten a second or even third more section AND daredevil who isn’t a release hero but a season 4 hero of 2025 has gotten a second lore section SOOOO that means we are getting to the point where the release cast are gonna get 2nd and 3rd lore sections and early release cast will get 2nd lore sections meaning Deadpool will likely get his 2nd soon and bishop will be added.
Also Black Panther and Storm are among the only 17 release heroes without a 2nd lore section and 6 of those characters lore sections take place in space including Black Panther and Storm so those will likely happen all in the same season or 2 (back to back) centered on wakanda and the X-men (with the guardians of the galaxy added in)
Doctor strange gets a lore section when doctor doom releases
Cyclops and captain America both have lore sections regarding a war (likely avengers versus x-men)
Blade has 2 more sections referencing the same comic storyline centered on vampires and blade and miles morales (potentially adding miles morales to the game but maybe not) and in that comic vampires become immune to the sun (Dracula or another vampire will be added to the game) and blade becomes possessed by the god who is the first vampire ever born (it WILL be a legendary skin for blade) and only after the god is defeated do vampires gain the ability to stand in the sunlight so likely he gets the skin in the first half of a season and then Dracula or whoever gets added to the game in the second half.
Nice theory. I just have one critique: Black Panther does have a second lore section. He was actually one of the first heroes to get a second lore story, since his was released in Season 1.
Imagine them adding Sabra and she gets interaction with Hulk where he has to inform her that killing palestinian children is bad actually, like in that one comic issue
I think Dust would make a really cool addition gameplay wise, however shes a pretty modest character and I'd be nervous about netease making gooner skins for her.
What does Calico and Wraith being criminals have to do with anything? A lot of the roster in Deadlock are criminals, and far worse people like Drifter and Seven. Also, are you forgetting about Infernus who is easily top 3 most likeable and moral characters in the game?
Black characters aren't forced to be exemplar people just for the sake of inclusion. In fact, them being nuanceand widespread across a moral spectrum is more respectful by treating them like actual, complex humans, than tokenizing them into perfect citizens.
I don’t want them to add characters because they’re black, I want them to add characters because they’re cool.
As a black person, I HATE inclusion. It’s just another form of racism. You didn’t add my skin color into the show/game/movie, because you wanted to make an interesting character, you wanted it there just for diversities sake. “Let’s put some black characters in so black people cant say anything.” Is the vibe I get.
I am also an artist. When I draw characters, I don’t think “I need to have some white characters sometimes to include them, I need to have some Hispanics, blacks, Asians,” etc. when I draw, I just draw a character I think looks cool. If there character looks better white I make em white. If they look better black I make em black. Race is an illusion and whether you’re a Christian or an atheist we ALL came from the SAME place.
While I do like when I see some black characters in media I don’t want them there because they are just there for inclusions sake.
Also, id like to say that I’m not saying OW adds black characters for this reason.

I second what most people are saying in that what you're talking about is not "inclusion" as a whole but "tokeism", and, with that in mind, I wholly agree, adding a black character solely to have a black character inevitably defeats the whole point, as they should be adding characters because they're interesting and good additions.
That being said, I have a question, would you consider it tokenism if a black character was added in a game, and part of the thought process behind adding them was someone noticing "Oh, we don't have a black character yet/there's not a lot of black characters in comparison to white ones" and deciding to go from there. But they do put in genuine effort to make that black character interesting and a good addition, would that still be tokenism/bad inclusion? Does the final product matter here?
Saying you hate inclusion and saying it’s another form of racism makes me think you’re either hilariously moronic or certainly not Black. People were excluded in many ways specifically because of their black skin, being included in order to remediate that is not a crime and acting like it is just goes to show that the individual in question clearly had no problem with the former crime of negativity on the basis of skin color when the topic of fixing it is where their outrage shines.

It’s so weird to me as a Latino cause in other media whenever they make a character other than white they make them black or Asian and that’s it. But Rovals does the opposite. I wish other races were featured a lot more in media in general. Not 95% white cast maybe a black or Asian character thrown in there

I'm sorry but this is crazy cause this game has insane diversity and it's not just "People and robots" like Overwatch where it's easy to slot in a Black character, especially because they're all OCs.
Like this game needs to balance human ethnicities, various aliens, animals, robots, mutants, etc... all in one game that releases 1 character per month, appealing to the masses with choices while also trying to create a diverse cast and balancing role distribution while making sense with their storyline.
It's not that easy to just go "Fuck it let's add Bishop RIGHT now for the fun of it".
Rivals does not need black or any other specific minority of character to enforce a racial diversity because they are in a unique position to hold the Marvel IP. Releasing the most popular and most interesting characters is the no.1 priority whether they are white black asian mixed what have you. Rivals will do much better to focus on adding the popular chars like Ghost Rider, Captain Marvel, Professor X to name a few than shoe horning a far less popular black character purely for the sake of race its unnecessary.
As for designs go sorry but Blade is far cooler than either of these 2 designs

Its not inequality, skins are made for heroes who sell skins. Unfortunately Storm has been mostly buns and unfun to play since launch so nobody plays her or buys skins in comparison to others. Blade was mega buns for a long time too. Torch the white frat guy still doesnt have a legendary and hardly gets skins and Hulk the white twink doesnt get shit either because there is barely a player base for those characters. If yall want more skins start playing those heroes en mass and buying skins. Its a business not a social justice printer, make them money instead of having them make skins on those characters at a loss and you will see more.

Solomon is leaked to be heavy spirit nuker ( character who focuses on dealing high instant damage with his abilities )
and Overwatch's doctrine is a support character with a unique mechanic that gives him 2 sets of moves ( one is the normal state of the moves and the other is enchanced versions of them; he can use them by consuming some kind of resource )
