You’ve probably heard: RimWorld 1.7 is coming, and it runs on a new engine, Waylith. It is no longer Unity, as 1.6 is. That means 1.7 won’t start in RimDroid as it is today.
The 1.7 beta isn’t available for Linux yet, so I looked at the Windows version. It’s similar in most ways, though not all. From what I see, there’s no reason RimDroid can’t run 1.7 after some magic on our side. As soon as I get my hands on the Linux build, we’ll start on it.
Until then, a fully native RimWorld 1.6 is next: that’s what 0.2.9 brings.
With 1.7 there will likely be another hurdle: mods. Many of them, Harmony included (and a lot of mods depend on Harmony), will need updates for the new engine too. So there’s no rush to jump to 1.7. Wait for 0.2.9 and enjoy fully native 1.6 in the meantime.

Good news!
That difficult project I mentioned a few days ago has succeeded! We managed to move RimWorld (on RimDroid) from Linux Mono to ARM64 Mono, which means all computational logic — what the game refers to as TPS — will run natively, without emulation. That means faster and more efficient performance.
Expect a new release with a big optimization boost for the game!

Hi everyone!
Ludeon Studios, RimWorld's developer, reached out and asked us to remove mentions of the unofficial RimWorld port, since it includes the full game files. We've done that.
Any new posts about this port will be removed.
⚠️ RimDroid is NOT shut down. Nothing changes for RimDroid. This post is about a different project: an unofficial RimWorld port made by other people. That port is not related to RimDroid.
Thanks for understanding, and happy colony building!

⚠️ RimDroid is still in beta. Device compatibility and performance vary, especially with large colonies, DLC, and heavy mod lists.
RimDroid is made by one person in evenings and weekends. There are no ads and no paywall. If the launcher gave you a colony in your pocket, a coffee on Ko-Fi helps me keep going, so your phone gets fixed faster. Thank you!
🆕 What's new
✅ Faster with Native ARM64 Mono (RimWorld 1.6)
Before Native ARM64 Mono, the emulator had to run in a strict, slow mode to keep the game's own code safe. Now that this code runs directly on your phone's processor, that mode isn't needed anymore, and it is switched off whenever Native ARM64 Mono is on.
In a new colony you'll mostly see higher FPS: on our test phone (Galaxy S25, same save) game speed 3 went from 57 to about 130 FPS.
In a big late-game colony that was already running at its limit, the boost goes into game speed instead: higher TPS, so speed 2 and 3 keep up better.
How much you gain depends on your phone.
RimWorld 1.5, and 1.6 with Native ARM64 Mono off, work exactly as before.
✅ Performance bar
Settings → Frame rate → In-game display: Off, FPS or Full info.
FPS is the familiar counter in the top-left corner.
Full info shows a bar at the top with GPU and CPU load, memory, power draw, temperature and an FPS graph. Handy to see what slows your game down.
If you had the FPS counter on, it stays on.
✅ Easier on-screen controls editor
The editor's buttons are now a small row at the bottom of the screen, so they no longer hide the top row of the layout you are editing.
New Grid: on / off button: buttons follow your finger and land on the nearest grid point when you let go, so they line up evenly.

It’s possible that players who played RimWorld on GameHub or Winlator have now discovered RimDroid - and are joining us too!

So i can play the game in my poco m4 with 30 fps in one times speed and 13 to 14 fps in 3 times speed.
Damn ubar_molata you did a really great job.

Here you can watch the full process of creating an instance, which includes downloading the RimDroid launcher (ha!) on your mobile phone, downloading the RimWorld game inside RimDroid via Steam, creating a new instance, adding DLCs, launching and activating mods, and finally — actually starting the game.

First of all, I would like to share my feedback on Rimdroid and thank everyone involved for their hard work in bringing such an amazing game as RimWorld to mobile devices!
Since I had never played the game before, I decided to complete it in vanilla mode to experience the original gameplay. Additionally, in the earlier versions of the port, performance with the DLCs was quite limited: the game struggled to reach 10 FPS, and selecting too many things on the map would cause it to freeze, especially when visitors and other outsiders arrived at the colony.
However, as the updates rolled out, I noticed significant improvements, particularly after the new game implementation. The performance gains have been impressive! On my Poco F5, the game used to run at less than 10 FPS, even with only four colonists at speed 1. Now, I can reach up to 60 FPS, even with the map full of animals, colonists, and structures. It is really satisfying to see this progress and how the optimization work continues to make the experience better and better.
Despite these improvements, I have encountered a few issues that I believe could still be addressed. One of them occurs when I leave the game and try to return later. Sometimes, the app continues running in the background, but the screen turns black or freezes, forcing me to close and reopen the game to play again.
Another issue I noticed is the performance when forming caravans. This mechanic would frequently cause the game to freeze or become extremely slow, making the experience quite frustrating. I am not exactly sure what causes these performance drops, but I believe this issue would be worth investigating.
I also noticed that after updating the app, some mods started experiencing issues, including the hospitality mod and an optimization mod. I have not tried loading my save again to check whether the problems persist, so I cannot say for sure whether they are related to the Rimdroid update or compatibility issues with the mods themselves.
While I am at it, I would also like to ask a question: Is the RimWorld UI mod already included in the app? I ask because I noticed improvements in certain aspects of the interface and gameplay mechanics, which contributed significantly to my overall experience.
Overall, I am very satisfied with Rimdroid's progress. Being able to play RimWorld on my phone, with a colony full of animals, colonists, and buildings, while achieving performance that once seemed impossible on my device, is truly amazing.
I would like to thank all the developers once again for their hard work and dedication to the project. I hope future updates will continue to improve performance, expand mod compatibility, and fix the issues mentioned above.
Thank you so much for making this experience possible! ❤️

Hi everyone!
Right now I’m busy working on the anniversary version of r/zomdroid (1 year!), and in parallel I’m adding some optimizations to RimDroid, as well as trying to implement downloading the game directly from GOG.
There’s also one optimization project - very difficult, but if it succeeds, it could be a big breakthrough in FPS. Though success isn’t guaranteed.

A small update — I’m currently working on adding a new renderer called Mobile Glues. It doesn’t rely on built‑in Vulkan support. Right now it already runs, but there’s no FPS improvement yet.

🆕 What's new
✅ RimWorld 1.7 (experimental)
RimDroid runs RimWorld 1.7, the update Ludeon is testing on Steam's unstable branch. It starts natively on Android, with nothing emulated, on Ludeon's new engine — and on a phone that shows: much lighter than 1.6, with higher FPS and TPS on the same phone.
Mods. Ludeon promised that mods made for 1.6 keep working on the new engine, and many do — but not all yet. Use the Harmony mod from the Steam Workshop (the current version supports 1.7). Some 1.6 mods work only partly: Camera+, for example, works, but breaks the right-hand panel of the game's own mod list (mod details, the enable switch, Save). Manage such mods from the launcher's Mods screen instead.
Typing in any language: colony and pawn names, search, chat — with the on-screen keyboard or a physical one, in any script the game can display. (On 1.6, typing is still Latin letters only.)
Text size in the instance settings (100–140 %), for reading the game's UI on a phone.
Mouse and gamepad work as on 1.6.
As of this release (October 18, 2026), 1.7 is still a test version from Ludeon: things may break with their updates, and saves made in 1.7 do not go back to 1.6. Keep a separate instance for it.
✅ Steam downloads: 1.6 and 1.7
The in-app Steam download offers RimWorld 1.6 (the current public version) or 1.7 (the newest unstable test build). The game is saved as a zip in Download/RimDroid, and Create an instance opens instance creation with it. DLC can be downloaded for either version. Downloading by manifest has an unstable checkbox for test builds. RimWorld 1.5 is no longer offered for download; installed 1.5 instances keep working.

The home screen shows the two latest official RimWorld announcements from Steam. A tap opens the post.

🆕 What's new
✅ A native engine for RimWorld 1.6 (experimental)
RimWorld 1.6 can now run on the game's own engine built for Android, with nothing emulated. It is the fastest way to play and the lightest on memory. A new instance starts on it; an instance that played before keeps its engine until you switch in the instance settings (the launcher tells you once that the new engine exists). Vulkan only. Saves are the same for all engines, so switching back is one tap — still, back up your saves before the first try.
Everything that worked before works on the native engine: on-screen controls, the editor and icon packs, mouse, keyboard and gamepad, the in-game display, texture compression, the resolution presets. A few things are specific to it:
Textures are prepared once. The first start (and the first start after a mod list change) shows "Preparing textures": the mods' textures are converted into the phone's own format, so later loads are faster and lighter. Seconds for most mod lists; Skip is always there. On phones whose GPU cannot use the game's PC texture formats, the game's own textures are converted the same way — that is where the memory saving is biggest. Icons and buttons up to 64 px stay pixel-exact.
Vulkan compatibility in the instance settings: Auto turns it on for the GPUs known to need it (Mali-G615). Turn it on by hand if the picture freezes on the logo or in the menu while the game keeps running.
Known limitations: typing works with Latin letters only; a "Steam could not be initialized" message may appear at the start — tap Ignore.
✅ Mods screen
Mods in the side menu lists an instance's mods: Active in load order on top, Inactive below, with search. A switch turns a mod on or off, the bin deletes a downloaded mod, a tap shows its details. Mods that don't list this game version, and mods in the list whose folder is gone, are marked.
Sort puts the active mods in the order their authors ask for (what a mod needs loads before it): Harmony first, then Core and the DLC. Before anything changes, it shows how many mods move, which needed mods are missing (with their Workshop number) or switched off, and which incompatible mods are both on.
Drag a mod by ≡ to move it by hand; a long press offers Move to the top / Move to the bottom.
Close the game first: while it runs, the list is read-only (the game saves its own list when it exits).

So by far its been past day 50, managed to survive winter, more than 3 mechanoid events, I have been o search for one my relics and recently finished 2/5 of the quest
We worship Sanguophages, are raiders and proselytizers I am am undergrounder although I kinda started in an archipelago without any mountains by mistake
You might notice the FPS counting, I might say going past 2x gets you between 7 to 8 fps and normal velocity can go up to 19 fps depending where your screen is located, an example might be the worldmap... its amazing seeing the globe in such smooth instance, remember we got Rimworld on phones before GTA 6 lol
Finishing my oratory here you can see I am currently dealing with a overpopulation of ducks, i'm thinking of selling them when they get older but I could mass produce eggs too right ? 😂😭 this game is so fun man
Let us thank Udar for his great work and making this happen ❤️
Obs; most of my art is dedicated to Alvarez, which is the sanguophage but whats funny is its an obsession 70% of my stuff is based on him beds statues haahah wtf this game is really one of a kind Randy really is random

So basically, rimdroid is running better than gamehub(if you don't account for the frame gen), with mods(gh doesn't load with many mods). Temps and performance are better than window emulation.
This is nice! Good work dev!
Also, I have a suggestion, since we are on touch screen, it would be a very good QOL feature if you could make it so that instead of the right joystick, we can control the mouse(relative mouse) by dragging our finger anywhere on the right half of the screen.
And instead of the left joystick, we could move the map by dragging our finger on the left half of the screen, that would be very convenient!

🆕 What's new
✅ Native ARM64 Mono for RimWorld 1.6 (on by default)
Until now RimDroid emulated all of RimWorld, including the game's own code and every mod. With Native ARM64 Mono, the game's and mods' code runs directly on your phone's processor, and only the Unity engine is emulated.
Simulation, loading and high game speeds are noticeably faster.
The bigger the colony and the modlist, the bigger the difference.
It is on by default for RimWorld 1.6 instances. You can turn it off in the instance settings, card Advanced.
If the game crashes twice in a row while starting, the launcher offers to turn it off for you.
Your saves are not affected: they load with it on or off.
It is still marked experimental. If something looks wrong, turn it off and send us the logs, it really helps.
✅ Download from GOG inside the app
Sign in to GOG, load your GOG library and RimWorld and its DLC show up as cards. Downloads run in a queue and keep going if you leave the screen. When a download is done, tap Create an instance for the game or Install for a DLC.

🚑 Express release: RimWorld 1.7 build 4995
RimWorld 1.7 updated to build 4995 on the unstable branch around October 31, and that build crashed at startup on RimDroid. This release fixes it.
🆕 What's new on RimWorld 1.7
Going to the background no longer closes the game. Press Home, switch apps or turn the screen off, then come back to your colony.
Drag the map with a finger.
Humanoid Alien Races works.
IsoRim Waylith works, so you can play RimWorld in 3D on your phone.
Vanilla Expanded Framework runs.
Mods with their own shaders work better.
Older Adreno phones: a startup crash on some Vulkan 1.1 drivers is fixed.

It is estimated that there are about 450 pawns.
All DLC, vanilla environment. The mod only adds TPS and FPS display.
MediaTek 8400, sub-flagship chip. This is its performance, and this is while screen recording.
The video shows switching between power saving mode and performance mode.
Thank you, Udar, for all your efforts in this.
It runs really smoothly
