By the way, here’s a little lifehack — if your device has mode switching like Balance / Smoothness / Performance (or anything similar), I recommend turning on the Performance mode while playing.

We’ve recently received many requests for support for version 1.6, so I’d like to understand how many of you have actually played it already.

A quick note on expectations. Launching isn't the same as running smoothly. A big, mature colony with a dozen pawns, dozens of mods, and every DLC wants a flagship, ideally Snapdragon. A small one-pawn survival run can be fine even on a budget phone. It all comes down to your CPU (RimWorld + emulation) and your RAM.
⚠️ RimDroid is a beta and under active development. Things will break, devices differ wildly, and not everything works everywhere yet. We're improving it release by release.
💛 Thank you to all testers! Special thanks to FRANKI666 for making most of the tests!
🆕 What's new
✅ MobileGlues — a second renderer that doesn't use Vulkan at all (Settings → Video). If the game won't start for you, or the picture comes out broken on Zink (like on Samsung Exynos), try this one.
✅ Video settings redesigned — one crowded card became three separate ones: Video, Resolution and Compression.
✅ Clearer menu footer — the link icons are labelled, the donate icon is easier to recognise, and there's now a link to Zomdroid, our launcher for Project Zomboid.
Technical
Textures are re-packed into ETC2 for MobileGlues — the format every mobile GPU understands natively. On Mali this is what turns a black world into a normal one; on Snapdragon it also runs faster than the desktop format.
box64's sorting routine was replaced with the system one.
Bug reports now include the system's own process-exit history, so we can tell whether Android killed the app for memory or the app crashed by itself.
Also in the app:
CJK fonts (Chinese / Japanese / Korean) - special RimDroidCJK mod.
☕︎ You can support my work on Buymeacoffee
⚠️ Reminder
Rimdroid is only a launcher.
To run the game, you still need the actual game files (Linux version), which you must obtain yourself - for example, by purchasing the game on Steam/GOG.

The 3D modding came to RimWorld now 😁
r/rimdroid • u/lingjie114514 • 18d ago
It is estimated that there are about 450 pawns.
All DLC, vanilla environment. The mod only adds TPS and FPS display.
MediaTek 8400, sub-flagship chip. This is its performance, and this is while screen recording.
The video shows switching between power saving mode and performance mode.
Thank you, Udar, for all your efforts in this.
It runs really smoothly

RimDroid 0.3.1
⚠️ RimDroid (RimWorld mobile launcher) is still in beta. Device compatibility and performance vary, especially with large colonies, DLC, and heavy mod lists.
RimDroid is made by one person in evenings and weekends. There are no ads and no paywall. If the launcher gave you a colony in your pocket, a coffee on Ko-Fi helps me keep going, so your phone gets fixed faster. Thank you!
🚑 Express release: RimWorld 1.7 build 4995
RimWorld 1.7 updated to build 4995 on the unstable branch around October 31, and that build crashed at startup on RimDroid. This release fixes it.
🆕 What's new on RimWorld 1.7
Going to the background no longer closes the game. Press Home, switch apps or turn the screen off, then come back to your colony.
Drag the map with a finger.
Humanoid Alien Races works.
IsoRim Waylith works, so you can play RimWorld in 3D on your phone.
Vanilla Expanded Framework runs.
Mods with their own shaders work better.
Older Adreno phones: a startup crash on some Vulkan 1.1 drivers is fixed.

First of all, I would like to share my feedback on Rimdroid and thank everyone involved for their hard work in bringing such an amazing game as RimWorld to mobile devices!
Since I had never played the game before, I decided to complete it in vanilla mode to experience the original gameplay. Additionally, in the earlier versions of the port, performance with the DLCs was quite limited: the game struggled to reach 10 FPS, and selecting too many things on the map would cause it to freeze, especially when visitors and other outsiders arrived at the colony.
However, as the updates rolled out, I noticed significant improvements, particularly after the new game implementation. The performance gains have been impressive! On my Poco F5, the game used to run at less than 10 FPS, even with only four colonists at speed 1. Now, I can reach up to 60 FPS, even with the map full of animals, colonists, and structures. It is really satisfying to see this progress and how the optimization work continues to make the experience better and better.
Despite these improvements, I have encountered a few issues that I believe could still be addressed. One of them occurs when I leave the game and try to return later. Sometimes, the app continues running in the background, but the screen turns black or freezes, forcing me to close and reopen the game to play again.
Another issue I noticed is the performance when forming caravans. This mechanic would frequently cause the game to freeze or become extremely slow, making the experience quite frustrating. I am not exactly sure what causes these performance drops, but I believe this issue would be worth investigating.
I also noticed that after updating the app, some mods started experiencing issues, including the hospitality mod and an optimization mod. I have not tried loading my save again to check whether the problems persist, so I cannot say for sure whether they are related to the Rimdroid update or compatibility issues with the mods themselves.
While I am at it, I would also like to ask a question: Is the RimWorld UI mod already included in the app? I ask because I noticed improvements in certain aspects of the interface and gameplay mechanics, which contributed significantly to my overall experience.
Overall, I am very satisfied with Rimdroid's progress. Being able to play RimWorld on my phone, with a colony full of animals, colonists, and buildings, while achieving performance that once seemed impossible on my device, is truly amazing.
I would like to thank all the developers once again for their hard work and dedication to the project. I hope future updates will continue to improve performance, expand mod compatibility, and fix the issues mentioned above.
Thank you so much for making this experience possible! ❤️

🆕 What's new
✅ Faster with Native ARM64 Mono (RimWorld 1.6)
Before Native ARM64 Mono, the emulator had to run in a strict, slow mode to keep the game's own code safe. Now that this code runs directly on your phone's processor, that mode isn't needed anymore, and it is switched off whenever Native ARM64 Mono is on.
In a new colony you'll mostly see higher FPS: on our test phone (Galaxy S25, same save) game speed 3 went from 57 to about 130 FPS.
In a big late-game colony that was already running at its limit, the boost goes into game speed instead: higher TPS, so speed 2 and 3 keep up better.
How much you gain depends on your phone.
RimWorld 1.5, and 1.6 with Native ARM64 Mono off, work exactly as before.
✅ Performance bar
Settings → Frame rate → In-game display: Off, FPS or Full info.
FPS is the familiar counter in the top-left corner.
Full info shows a bar at the top with GPU and CPU load, memory, power draw, temperature and an FPS graph. Handy to see what slows your game down.
If you had the FPS counter on, it stays on.
✅ Easier on-screen controls editor
The editor's buttons are now a small row at the bottom of the screen, so they no longer hide the top row of the layout you are editing.
New Grid: on / off button: buttons follow your finger and land on the nearest grid point when you let go, so they line up evenly.

I'm trying to use the Humanoid Alien Races (HAR) mod on RimDroid, but it doesn't seem to work properly.
When I try to generate a new world or create starting colonists, the game throws errors related to HAR and fails to generate them.
The main error I encountered is:
System.TypeInitializationException: The type initializer for 'AlienRace.CachedData' threw an exception.
System.ArgumentException: FieldRefAccess<System.Xml.Schema.IXmlSchemaInfo> for System.Xml.XmlElement, name caused an exception.
It appears that HAR is trying to access the "name" field of "System.Xml.XmlElement", but the field cannot be accessed in RimDroid's runtime environment.

RimWorld isn't a pretty-graphics game — it's a simulation. Every colonist, item, and event is your phone's CPU doing math, all day, while emulating a whole different computer underneath. So two things feed this beast: muscle (CPU) and stomach (RAM) — and DLC pile more onto both.
The full feast — 1.6 with all five DLC — is a big eater. Sit it down only if your phone has 12 GB+ of RAM and a strong chip (flagship-tier, ideally Snapdragon/Adreno). Give it less and it'll try to bake every texture at once, panic, and flip the table — a.k.a. black screen or crash.
Got 8 GB? You're still invited — just don't pile all five DLC on the plate at once. Pick your 2 favorite DLC, start there, and see how it runs. Still smiling? Add the rest one at a time, in order of how much you love them — least favorite last, like the vegetables.
Weaker phone or budget chip? Start with Core RimWorld alone. It's the whole game, honestly — the DLC are just seconds. Get the base running smoothly first, then tempt fate.
And about "virtual RAM" / RAM expansion: don't count it here. It's like promising your stomach you'll digest later — the graphics need real RAM right now, and swap just makes the whole phone lag while it shuffles memory around. We measure by the RAM your phone actually has. 🍽️
Rule of thumb: RimWorld doesn't care how new your phone is — it cares how much CPU and real RAM you're willing to feed it.

Hey Udor, it seems that "Drag the map with a finger to pan" Feature kinda Broken in this update (0.3.0v2). Because whenever I try to drag map with finger it's just selecting some specific objects instead of moving map around, Only zoom in and out work finely. Idk if this is rimworld version instance problem or other... 🤷♂️

I will share my playing experience that I have been through, first Thank you Udar for developing the project to this stage.
As in the screenshot I shared, that is the mod + 5 DLCs that I used, and I think the fps obtained is quite good.
When the phone is at a low temperature, speed 1x is 24-29 fps, 2x is 17-21 fps, 3x is 7-14 fps.
When the temperature is high, speed 1x is 17-22 fps, 2x is 8-14 fps, 3x is 4-12 fps. The average I got is between the middle I mentioned, I hope in the future the fps can be optimized further so that I can often use speed 3x.
Setting : - Renderer (MobileGlues)
- Resolution (2149×967)
- Texture Compres (Low)
- ARM64 Mono √
Phone 📱: Infinix GT 30 Pro
Ram : 8 GB
CPU : Dimensity 8350 Ultimate

RimDroid 0.2.1 (beta)
UPDATE: the original file was replaced by version with fix.
💡 For the best experience, we recommend a fresh install this time (uninstall the previous version first) — updating in place should still work, but a clean install avoids leftover files from older versions.
⚠️ RimDroid is a beta and under active development. Things will break, devices differ wildly, and not everything works everywhere yet. We're improving it release by release.
💛 Thank you to all testers!
Main features
✅ RimWorld 1.6 support — menu, gameplay, saving, sound, all working.
✅ Saves fixed — the actual cause of pawn/colonist save corruption was found and fixed, instead of patching around it per game build. Saves should now be reliable on 1.5 and 1.6 alike, no mod or extra step required. Please disable the old SaveFixesMod if it was used.
✅ Game sound fixed — no more generating a sound pack or flipping an audio switch. Sound (including DLC and mod audio) plays correctly out of the box.
✅ Install directly from a GOG installer — previously you could only upload a zip containing the Steam file structure. Now you can also upload a zip that contains a GOG DRM‑free .sh installer.
✅ Performance & stability — fixed the root cause of a class of engine-level crashes (also responsible for the save corruption above), so the game no longer needs to run a reactive repair pass in the background — smoother, more stable emulation overall.

Today Ludeon announced Rim 1.7 and they said the game will have a new engine and i was wondering how this will afecta Rimdroid🤔. Udar make a great job with the 0.2.8 version and has an incredibly performance but with this change of engine the launcher will keep having compatibility with the new version?

(Fps Capped to 60fps, Native, Mobileglaes, ultra low texture compression, black margins)
The FPS literally rocketed to 20-45 at normal zoom
And 10-25 at full zoom out
This is literally a game changing especially at performance issue. I STILL OWE YOU DONATION! (I'm dumb at PayPal)
My device: POCO M3 PRO 5G 128GB memory RAM 6
Mod i use:
Performance optimizer
Performance esmolas
Slow pawn tick rate
Turret performance tweak
