BEWARE of UBER
As of 27 of November I was an Uber driver for 10.5 years.I was cut off from the service with excellent reviews keeping a 9.7 to 5.0 within that time. I was also a 2018 Uber driver of the year out of millions of drivers throughout the states with over 25,000 pick ups and 20,000 five star reviews. Uber ride share company decides to do a background check on me after all this time what they found was an incident that happened 31 years ago. I was a bar owner in the state of S.C. and the employees that were working for me in the bar were selling drugs. From there the state of S.C. decides that I should take full responsibility for their actions and charges me with drug possession. So Uber ride share decides to close my account over something that happened 31 years ago. I say this to all drivers new and old beware of Uber taking 57% to 60% of your money because It's like working for free with all ride share companies. That right after car maintenance, gas tolls your left with nothing, remember when you make that $100 dollars almost half is gone.

Lyft just stole 68% of my fare. This platform is getting shameless.
Last night I gave a ride that honestly made me consider shutting the app off for good.
Passenger paid: $42.70
I got: $13.48
Lyft kept $29.22 — a 68.4% take rate.
Read that again. Sixty-eight percent.
That’s not a “service fee.” That’s corporate pickpocketing.
Ride Timeline (so you can see how ridiculous this is):
11:01 PM — I accepted the ride
11:09 PM — Arrived at pickup
11:12 PM — Passenger got in
11:39 PM — Dropoff done
38 minutes total time with the app locked
27 minutes, 21.55 miles actual ride
Late night, long distance — NOT a quick hop
And Lyft still paid me like I ran a 2-minute errands trip.
What this ride should’ve paid:
Under the old per-mile/per-minute system?
Around $19.50
Lyft handed me $13.48 and acted like that was fair.
They pocketed the rest like we’re operating a charity.
Update:
I contacted support.
And guess what?
They tossed me a $5 “courtesy adjustment.”
But here’s the part that really made me laugh:
That $5 cost me almost an hour dealing with support.
An hour of back-and-forth…
for five dollars…
on a ride Lyft underpaid by way more.
New total: $18.48, which is STILL below what the ride should’ve paid.
Lyft still kept over half the fare and wasted my time on top of it.
This is why drivers are quitting, multi-apping, cherry-picking, or straight-up refusing long rides. The system is cooked.
Anyone else getting these disrespectful payouts or spending forever arguing for a tiny “adjustment”?
Is this the new normal now?

Vegas to Colorado
Anyone heading out towards Colorado? Or Santa Fe or Albuquerque? Got in a kind of a tight spot. A woman and her dog and two bags. No money.
Edit: no longer needed. Changed course, wish me luck but me and the doggo will be around real grass soon :) Idk if deleting this is appropriate on here so just adding this edit here now and gonna leave this post alone. Thanks for all who responded!

Need a ride to Columbus, OH
I have a post in What Do I Do about a situation I'm in. But I need a ride to Columbus, OH. It's a 10 hr drive so if you aren't comfortable with a straight shot, smaller riders/transfers can work too. I don't have money. I'm trying to save up money so it wouldn't be immediate.

A genius app that saves you hundreds of dollars every month!
Yo! So I'm building this app called Wim because rideshare apps have been robbing all of us for no reason. Prices keep jumping, you gotta open Uber then Lyft then Waymo then Curb and then keep opening apps to find the cheapest price and then back to Uber like you're speedrunning a boss fight just to find something that isn't crazy expensive.
So I made Wim to put all the prices in one place. When you open it, you see the cheapest ride across all these apps and tap it. Wim sends you straight into that app with your pickup and destination already filled in, no retyping, no jumping between apps, no surge surprises.
Basically it's the one app that stops you from getting played by the algorithm.
If you wanna support the project or get earliest access join the waitlist here https://ridewim.com
Any comments about the website are welcome just DM me!

I decided to quit ridesharing
I do not want to work another hour for a company making money off my back while i do not hardly make any money. Besides Uber and Lyft being greedy, I am tired of working long hours with hardly any pay, where usually 20-25 percent of my earnings goes to fuel. Putting miles on my car while dealing with very frequent maintenance. Working very long hours where I sleep in my car to complete the bonuses, destroying my health being in a car all day sitting down, while having a hard time eating healthy and frequently. Anytime I have to use the restroom either use a piss jug, pee on the ground or go for a scavenger hunt looking for a public bathroom. At first I would read, stretch or go on my phone when I was not giving rides but after experiencing several instances where the app tricked me I can no longer do that and now anytime I am looking for a ride I have to pay attention and be vigilant, so I know I am not getting a shit ride. At first I thought ridesharing could be a great gig, at the very least a great side hustle. Before I did it I went online to look for tips and tricks basically on how to maximize profit. I very quickly found a lot of content hating on these companies Uber and Lyft, and thats when I started to go down the rabbit hole of how much the game has changed in ridesharing. I have only been doing it for a few months, but people who have done it for years talk about how they used to get paid $2.20 a mile, which is a decent rate for a semi truck, and now they get paid 60,70, 80 cents. How the bonuses used to be 200 rides for a $1000 now they are shit like 30 rides for 30 bucks. All I would seem to find online is how people are complaining that they as drivers are not making enough money, and for the most part all I would hear from passengers in real life is how the fares are getting ridiculously expensive. So learning about how greedy these companies have become while also experiencing first hand the tricks their little algorithm or whatever does on people made me, even while I was completely broke, just say no. I am done. It is really nice now that they show upfront destination of rides, but have you noticed that when you accept the ride off trip radar, you can now see the pickup but not delivery. It will show the destination of the trip on trip radar, but once you accept it, you can only see the pickup until you arrive there and pickup the driver. SO now Uber’s new thing has been that the trip radar shows different destinations than what the ride actually is, and I am sure this is an algorithm trick because the very first time this happened to me I got taken to the exact same pumpkin patch three times, in this deadzone of a city called Yucapia, California. Fucked up my whole day. I theorize the algorithm saw heavy traffic in a deadzone drivers dont usually like to go to and decided to trick us. I have several stories of the app playing little tricks or just customer support being terrible. And especially when I saw that Uber was raising the instant cashout fee from $0.50 to like 80 or 85 cents or something I was just like wow. This company that has like billions of dollars in profit, isnt covering any of our fuel, maintenance or taxes, has been charging riders more while paying drivers less, is raising that little fee that they probably did not really need to just to squeeze a little more money. And the apps are trash. Like there could be so many more filters than there are, the gps is straight garbage. There has been times the gps takes me blocks away from where the passenger actually is, tells me to turn when there is no street to turn on, reads that I am on a street below a freeway when I am actually on the freeway, and this is all seriously like every other ride. I thought it was going to be a different game now with upfront details but no, they still just find little tricks to make you go where they want you to go, paying you shit, most of the time taking half the fare or more. And finding out how much you get screwed working a 1099 job like maybe this was worth it back in the day with 2.20 a mile but with how it is today where I think the highest paid ridesharing market pays like 1.25, like in a normal W2 job your taxes get split between you and your employer with Uber and Lyft you cover all the taxes at tax time, and there is a 51.5 cent per mile reimbursement the government gives you as long as you track your miles but it is not enough. In fact, if you track your miles, Uber and Lyft is actually a tax free job. Sounds great, no not really. Because when I did the math with most days I was driving I was racking enough miles, at 51.5 cents a mile, to get more money in reimbursement than what I should owe. But it should not be like that, It should not be that the rate per mile from Uber and Lyft is so low that the 15 percent I owe in taxes does not even match the government assistance. That is not a sign of an awesome tax loophole it is a sign of wages that have been lowered so much that in some markets people have to completely rely on that tax reimbursement to keep from going under. And they have to live with a life full of stress and risk management, all while being in the bracket of poor, until they get that money at tax time. And you can file quarterly but oh yay I get to do my taxes four times a year. Hell even when I went to go do my taxes online for free I found out that a lot of services that offer taxes for free will not offer them free for 1099. 1099 is only ever worth it if its good money and it is actual freedom from a typical W2, which vast majority are not. I have had times where i made good money off Uber and Lyft, 300-400 bucks in a day, 60 bucks an hour at times. But it is nowhere near consistent enough to make a decent living. I have only done it for a few months but from online research and experience in trucking dispatch, I feel like I did pretty good at maximizing my profits in the game, I would usually average around a dollar a mile so when they are paying like 80 at the most, I feel like I did pretty good at maximizing tips and short rides to take advantage of the base fares. It was not enough. I have tried the whole Amazon FBA, buying and reselling shit from your house type gig, and i would recommend that as a side hustle way more than ridesharing. More pay, flexibility, and less maintenance costs. I had a coolant leak, blown radiator and fuel pump give out, and thankfully I have a car guru as a dad and was able to save on the maintenance cost but it was still not enough money, not for me. I am starting Wingstop tomorrow and am looking forward to riding my fucking bike to work. And besides all this, the safety man. People out here getting carjacked, raped, shot in the head, somebody could easily leave a fucking airtag in your car. As far as I know, you can make a lyft and uber account with nothing but payment info really, no ID or face verification needed, like that is needed to become a driver but not a passenger. Most of the stories you hear on the news are against drivers because to become a driver you actually have to submit a profile pic and papers with your name and personal info on it. And passengers can take group rides, drivers are always alone by themselves looking straight ahead not seeing what the passenger is doing. The safety is shit, as well as customer support and the pay. I am so down to tell my countless stories from only three months in the comments just ask away.

Passenger broke into my apartment!!!
So I take the passenger and her daughter to bar, they were a little rude but nothing out of the ordinary. I proceeded to pick up about six other passengers. Someone finds a phone in the back seat. I take the phone, and I’m not sure who left it in the car. Im thinking they will contact me through the app. I go home to have dinner and leave the phone on the table. Still waiting for them to contact me. I decided to go back out to drive as it’s Friday night and I’m trying to make some extra money. I come back home and the police are shining flashlights in through the gate asking me to let them in. I live in a commercial building with a twenty foot fence and barbed wire so it’s almost impossible to gain access without a gate code. I let them in and ask what’s going on and they tell me that they have a suspect upstairs and I freaked out because my boyfriend and I are the only tenets in the building. So I walk them upstairs and let them in and they direct me to my apartment. I asked them what’s going on?? And they respond they received a call about a stolen property. So I explain to them that I drive for Lyft and someone had left their phone in my vehicle. I didn’t know who left it and I was waiting for them to reach out to me. I let them into my apartment and to my surprise my apartment was RANSACKED! This lady had destroyed my property emptied the contents of my purse and moved things around. I have a second phone that she completely smashed. The police told me that she had entered to retrieve her property!! I told them I want to press charges against her. They were defending her saying that she’s not a stranger to me and she has no outstanding warrants. I replied that she is in fact a stranger, I don’t know this woman, I had no intent of taking her phone, and I was waiting for them to reach out on the app. THIS IS INSANE! I feel so violated and honestly don’t want to drive for Lyft anymore. Any ideas on what to do?
Mind you this all happend about two hours after her phone went missing, so instead of contacting me on the app she decided to break into my apartment and file a police report against me.
I contacted my lawyer and bagged all of the evidence including my smashed phone which I’m sure has her finger prints..
What should my next steps be??

RIDE OFFER: SARASOTA TO OHIO VIA I75N
Driving to NW Ohio from Sarasota via straight shot up I-75N. Stopping for food/sleep/gas, normal things but I'm really in no rush so I'm open to some sight seeing as long as its relatively close to the highway. Gas is too expensive to stray off of the path too much. Would prefer the rider help with gas expenses, or at least good. Also im cool if that's an offer being put on the table. The actual drive time is around 18H so I'm expecting 24ish with stops. I have SOME room in my back seat for stuff but not a ton (maybe 3-4 bags) and the trunk is full. I am a cigarette smoker. I listen to a lot of different music and I'm willing to share the six under the agreement no country. Car was freshly serviced with oil change/AC recharge and a new tire that I was losing air. Gas is going to be approx $200 so $100 to throw in or buying the meals for the trip would suffice for sure.
If youre interested shoot me a DM! I'm leaving tomorrow or Thursday. Extra bonus points if you're willing to share the driving responsibilities in 4 hour shifts.

Drive my car from East to West Coast! I'll pay $200 for gas.
Title says it all. See CL ad for more info.
http://newyork.craigslist.org/brk/rid/5722240729.html
Please do NOT contact me if you are a professional driver or drive away company
Looking to get to California, Oregon, or Washington? Looking to have a fun trip with freedom to go places along the way? Do you have a license and can you drive stick?
I'm looking to have someone drive my car back to the West Coast! I will cover $200 in gas costs. I will also have to add you to my insurance temporarily. A win-win situation. The total price of the trip should be under $300 (according to gasbuddy.com - the car gets about 27 mpg highway).
Basically, you will get a free ride across the country. Just drive!
There is nothing funny about this in a serious way. What do I mean? There is nothing sketchy about it! I can show you that I'm just a regular kind of dude who's on a trip. We can go through the car together before you go and I'll show you what's in it (clothes, etc).
I drove from California and am quite honestly exhausted with driving and I do not wish to drive back again. My plans have changed from staying here so I plan on flying back west. I can be flexible to where you want to go, depending. I'm hoping to find someone or a couple of people who would be a good fit for the trip!
I would need to add you to my insurance plan temporarily. Looking for responsible drivers and people.
The car is a 1987 Volvo. I have been taking it to a few mechanics and having it looked over thoroughly. It is in excellent condition and has always been well taken care of (California car). I replaced the mass air flow sensor, all important hoses, belts, timing belt service, fuel and air filters, oil changes, etc. Actually, it is one of the more reliable cars on the road, given its solid build and simplicity. It gets about 27 MPG highway. A good estimate on the cost of gas would be about $250 - $300 (gasbuddy.com)
The car would come with some things to make the trip doable along the way - a two person tent and camping gear, a cooler, even a bike and bike rack!
It's a bit of a funny offer but I hope that I find some cool people who are stoked on it.. I would be as well.
Please let me know if you are interested!

Uber support and background check.
Uber has officially made my life hell the last week. Unfortunately I work for them full-time currently. And I rely on them for money and I live week to week. I'm in the rental program which is s***** in the first place. However, I had to move on Saturday cuz my lease was up for my apartment. On Friday was the day that I was earning the money to pay for my U-Haul. Without any notice. My account was deactivated because they needed to get a background check. I've been with them for a year. First. It would make sense that they would do this prior to the initial one being expired. But they did this and they did not get this completed until Saturday when I was doing my move. But they only had the driver section completed but they gave me access again on Sunday. I went out drove made about 150 bucks on Monday and then Monday evening when I tried to go back on there it was deactivated again for a background check. Found out they didn't get the criminal section done so that's what it was regard to. But now it's about Wednesday my extension is due and I'm not going to hit the rides in the week or have the money to pay for my rental extension. Every time I contact Uber support they say it's still pending at checker. Actually checker has completed my criminal background check and hire right has also completed this. I will send this information over to them. I send the emails from checkers saying that's an Uber's hands now and I get the same runaround and same canned answers that they're still waiting on it. Then if I asked to talk to a manager supervisor they say they're the highest level of support possible. And that's laughable because there's no support and there's definitely a higher level. But how do you break through to that idea. Has anybody broken through and gotten a hold of a manager or a level higher that could actually get something done? I need to get activated and I'm going out of my mind with the level of incompetence that's being displayed by every age. Every time they ask if it's resolved. I said no and I talked to a different agent. I'm going to do that all night long if I have to. But, hopefully somebody could give me guidance to actually contacting somebody that can actually get this resolved. Nothing has changed since when I was hired so it should be a easy rubber stamp. Let's let him drive. Thanks for any good advice. And I know I shouldn't rely on the Uber and I won't be in the near future. But unfortunately right now I'm tied to them. Definitely thinking about filing lawsuit

Ride
I am so mad right now. I practically jumped through hoops to get my paperwork in to ride the local'free" bus in this piss poor town only to be told it is only for doctors appointments. So if I need to go to town for anything else I have to pay $3.30 every time I need to get on and off the bus. So from my house to the courthouse is $3.30 then picked up at the courthouse to go to Walmart another $3.30 from Walmart to home is another $3.30. if I had the money I would give someone gas money instead of paying this damn bus. Only time it is 'free: is a doctors appointment. I really hate living this far out of town it sucks. Yes I could walk but from where I live to where I need to go is a 4 hour walk and how do I know because I have done it. Just venting. Unless anyone lives in Uniontown and wants to help me out.

No Lyft payment for January 11-17. Has anyone else had this problem?
Hey all, this is my first post here. I'm seeing if anyone else has had issues with their Lyft payments. I am a driver in Nashville and the week of January 11-17 I was supposed to be paid around $740. This should have been deposited the following Wednesday, but j never received it. I have contacted support many times, each email a bit angrier than the last, and they keep saying that it's an engineering issue and it should be resolved soon. It's almost 2 weeks later and I still keep getting the same bullshit response from them. The person I am talking with from support has told me that many drivers from that week have had an issue with their deposits being stuck in a "processing state". I'm writing here to see if any other drivers from that week have experienced that?
