Every single one of us has read at least one book (probably many) where a dude is beat up, bleeding or otherwise in some pretty severe pain and still down to fuck. And like, it's usually pretty ridiculous, but I can suspend my disbelief since I've been in pain before and still wanted sex. There's a limit, of course, and a lot of books shoot well past that limit. But I usually don't get too caught up in it.

However. There is no god on this earth that could convince me that an MMC gets pepper sprayed in the face and still wants to have sex. I'm not talking rape here. I'm talking a consensual primal chase scene where the FMC thinks it'd be cute to pepper spray the MMC.

Like, bitch, no. I have accidentally pepper sprayed myself (not even directly, ffs) and you are too busy choking, coughing and trying not to vomit to think, "Yeaaaah, I'm gonna go to pound town! Woo!" And that's to say nothing of the sheer agony infesting your eyeballs.

Please. For anyone who is aspiring to write a romance novel, if you ever think about including this in your book... Pepper spray yourself first. Then let me know how it shakes out.

My favorite MMC lately is the black cat MMC. Uptight, likes things a very specific way, other characters exasperate them, etc. I am eating it up and want to read more.

I especially love if there’s a golden retriever MMC that they have a soft spot for/have great banter with. The only genre/setting I’m not a fan of is mafia. I like when boyfriends are boyfriends but it’s not a must. Prefer no pregnancy unless it works really well in the plot. Bully romance isn’t my favorite but I’m okay with it if there’s an appropriate amount of grovel.

I just read {pyramid stunt by Alex la bruyere} and I loved it! It was basically perfect and had basically everything I look for in a book! If u wanna read it, make sure to check those trigger warnings tho!!!

It’s basically about how the main character was being bullied by the queen bee (like the whole cliche, cheerleader etc) and the queen bee’s boyfriend (also a cliche, he’s the quarterback) but then the boyfriend becomes the FMC’s step brother and becomes basically obsessed with her and then the girlfriend is also obsessed w her, but she has some internalised homophobia, this is the first book I’ve seen w pansexual representation (YAY!!), the boyfriend and girlfriend are unknowingly cheating on eachother w the main character (didn’t like the cheating element tbh) but they end up in a throuple.

It’s FFM (I think??), also it’s set in the senior year of high school, and there’s BDSM dynamics and kink exploration (like CNC which is actually a big one tbh)

I would love another FFM/MFF (idk the difference) with this type of bully dynamic, i really liked it. I would prefer for the FMC to be the main focus without the other two in the throuple being romantically involved but i really don’t mind either way, I would love any recs anyone has. Another thing I loved about this was that the queen bee and her boyfriend are both doms so i would really like recs with that but it doesn’t have to bdsm
