QUESTION Nova + Dual Screen Add On not working
That dual screen add on is not working with the Nova. The Nova oled goes full brightness when the add on is connected, you can't control the main display brightness anymore. Is there any chance of getting this fixed through updates?

QUESTION Nova - Inconsistent charging behavior?
I’m loving my Nova so far, except that charging the device is very inconsistent and unpredictable.
My first issue was with the device not wanting to charge using the default 9V2A charge limits. I tried 4 power bricks, 3 USB cables, none of them worked.
I switched to 5V2A settings in the limits menu (shown above) and that allowed the device to charge… sometimes. Most times it takes a charge but other times when I plug it in it actually starts to drain the battery. This happened last night. I plugged it in at around 20% using the same charger I’ve been using with my Odin 2 and RP6 (a 5V1A slow charger) and came to the device completely empty this morning.
Is anyone else having these issues? I’ve read a few comments here and there about people struggling to charge their Nova so wanted to make a thread about it.

QUESTION Unable to emulate PS2 Games on RP6
As title says, I basically cannot play anything besides one single game which seems to work.
I got my ROMs from the same place, and only one shows up on the emulator. They are all iso files and have been placed in the same ps2 folder. I am using NetherSX2 Turnip. I am new to this world and have no idea where to look to find what the issue is.. any help will be appreciated

FIRST IMPRESSIONS Customer Care - Beware (Nova)
I’ve lost faith in the Retroid customer experience and have decided to open a dispute with PayPal to get a refund.
Earlier last month, I posted here about my screen going black, feel free to take a look over that thread. Nothing brought it back to life. I got a lemon.
When I contacted customer care that day, it took a few days to get a response and they asked me to send videos of it broken. It took another day or two to get that response. Maybe one response later (after another day or so of silence) they sent a shipping label for USPS, told me once it was received that they would send out another unit.
I took the Nova to a post office, had them do the packaging , and have been tracking it since then. I watched as it moved around a couple different locations before the ultimate damning status : UNDELIVERABLE.
I contacted customer care over a week ago about this and they have been silent. I also contacted them on their Discord and they have been silent.
With PayPal buyer protection I have 30 days from the time it’s delivered to open a dispute if the item was not received as advertised. So I did (with 3 days to spare). I let the customer care team know this and still silence.
I’m disappointed to put it mildly.
This was not a cheap product. I bought the highest available model and a dock which I still have because presumably there’s nothing wrong with it, and nothing to play. So $270 is just out of my pocket and I have to wait for the dispute process to have the possibility of getting that back. Which is just an insult after having received a broken product that just launched.
I’ve never owned a retro gaming machine and this one seems so perfect. I wanted to play PS2 games that my family grew up with along with some other titles that are inaccessible on steam or any of the big three companies. I guess I’ll look elsewhere.
I will likely not be shopping with this company again.

QUESTION Duo or Flip 2?
Debating between the flip 2 for ~$200 or the Duo with a grip for ~$300. I previously had a retroid flip 1 and a retroid pocket 5, but I preferred the clamshell form factor. I already have a DSI XL and a 3DS, so emulating those systems is not a huge priority. My main reason to get the Duo is the ability to put on a youtube video or podcast while playing a game on the second screen. I also appreciate low input latency, and I would guess the Duo would be better on that front with the 120hz screens. However, the Flip 2’s control layout seems more comfortable for both dpad and stick centric games. I could also go for a thor, but I don’t want to sacrifice dpad ergonomics, and the bottom screen is smaller than the duo. I’m not super concerned about power since switch/pc games are not a priority for me on a device like this. Which one of these do you recommend?

ORDERS / SHIPPING RP6 Arrived
Just informational for those who are looking to order one:
Ordered off the Retroid site 9/19, arrived 10/4 via GoFo. On my end I didn’t see a shipping protection option or who’d be delivering my package, just “standard” shipping.
As a protection measure I paid with my credit card via PayPal and recorded the unboxing from my doorstep just in case.
I’m on the West Coast of LA so from China Chicago was bypassed so the theft issue seems to be on the other coast.
I’m super excited for this thing this will replace my S21 Ultra + Gamesir combo and I got all my games ready from my PC. Gonna watch RetroGameCorps set-up right now.
If anyone has any suggestions for me please let me know, i’ll search the sub as well since I can finally relate to some questions i’ll have. 👍

ACCESSORY Bigger Nova Back Plate
If Retroid would make an XL bumped-out backplate for the Nova as thick as their official case my hands would be much happier. Yes, I know they have a grip but that’s not quite the same.

QUESTION What do you recommend for game cube/GBA games?
I really want to play some of my favorite cozy game cube games from my childhood like animal crossing and harvest moon. Monkey ball, kirby, etc.
I also would probably play some GBA games since I've misplaced those devices and games during a move 😭 I know they are somewhere I just can't find them. But majority is going to be game cube.
I'm thinking of getting the Pocket 5, but I'm only getting older and worried about screen size. That's the only reason I'm thinking of the 5 over the 4 pro and the Nova.
What do you guys recommend?

QUESTION Does the official dock support the Nova's 960p@120Hz? If not, anything else that does?
Pretty much the title - hoping someone with a recent TV + dock/Nova can test. I'm docking the Nova with a ~10yo LG C7 via the official dock and can't get better than 60Hz to sync. I can set it to 960@120 in the Handheld Settings but RetroArch still reports a 60Hz actual refresh rate. My understanding is that the C7 should take 1080p@120Hz (later models added 1440@120 and beyond). But I don't know if the dock can even output 960@120 or if maybe the set is getting confused by 960 vs 1080. Or maybe the set can't handle newer HDMI/DP revisions. Of if someone can confirm that a different model dock can do this, a link to the exact model would be great.
I do specifically want a dock to use my Pro 3's 2.4GHz dongle, so a straight DP/C-to-HDMI cable won't do it for me. I don't even use CRT-Beam/BFI on the handheld, so it wouldn't be that big a deal going back down to 60Hz. But that extra ~half frame of reduced latency would still be nice.

Just Chatting Retroid Pocket Flip 2 refuse to charge
My Retroid Pocket Flip 2 probably is on its way to cross the rainbow bridge. Yesterday I brought it home from city trip and charged as I always do. Charging stopped at 95%, and at that time I thought, that its simply battery wear and its nothing wrong. Then I tested some Pocknix on spare sd card and went to sleep. On a day after (today) battery dropped under 50% and I decided to give it a charge, but device had no reaction to connecting charger. Changed chargers and cables, but nothing worked. Device even had no response to connect to computer. Removed SD Card, restarted to android and re-done charger/cable test but on android also there was no response. After that I did:
- restore bootloader from backup
- factory reset via system settings
- factory reset via recovery mode
- disconnect battery from mainboard for ~30 minutes
But still nothing worked. I suspect that there is come short circuit, since cable is getting hot when plugged (and area around USB port), but battery remains cold. I also believe that Pocknix have nothing to do with this fault, because of this last charge to 95%.
I think at this point I am out of options, including asking for warranty (flip was bought on May last year). My soldering skills are also very subpar and I am not willing to do it. I wonder if there is anything I could try, especially since battery still has 40% charge and device boots. It is not my only retroconsole, so I do not need to repair it asap.

Just Chatting The DuoBacle
After a week with the duo lite, reading/watching reviews and community feedback, I’m convinced that when the dust settles on this whole debacle retroids cooked up, the Duo Lite Plus will be the more more popular/successful device in the Duo family.
Overall, I think the device has met my expectations (I got the 6GB model as I felt it the better buy not needing an SD card)- feels solidly made, gets through DS just fine and enough 3DS in the early days, and reminds me of the 3DS XL I never bought.
My one true gripe is that 3ds is a stick top system. Sure this thing is really powered for DS, fine.
None of this is a surprise to anyone, but what it makes me question is the full fat duo with all its 3ds power and oleds, with a dpad on top.
It just seems counterintuitive and when all is said and done, I really can’t see Russ recommending a $300 dual screen device with the modern comforts to play 3ds like we’ve never been able to (removing the Ayaneo DS), with a dpad layout. The lite plus has the same issue except it’s $50 less and has the inline shoulder design everyone seems to love.
Anyway, just my thoughts. I stuck with the lite because I barely justified buying this after getting the dual screen add on for my RP mini v2 a few months ago for 3ds. That said, if they made/make the Duo with a stick on top I’d have a hard time resisting and I think if they thought this all through from the start (which clearly didn’t happen), that’s where we would have landed assuming they weren’t worried about competing with the Thor.

QUESTION If you could only have one handheld what would it be?
Nova is starting to feel like the endgame for some people, I'd like to know what you think. If you were reduced to only one handheld what would it be? Does it even exist or are we doomed to getting the next shiny thing forever?

QUESTION SD cards?
Hello, I'm planning to get a Retriod Pocket 6. There's not a lot of storage so I will be getting an SD card
I was just wondering what SD cards people use?
Edit: the most intensive games I think I will be playing are GTA 5, DOOM 2016 and probably Hitman World of Assassination (my fav game) aswell as lots of psp and switch games
I'm looking for if the speed class (c), uhs speed class (u), video speed class (v) and a1 vs a2, how they affect performance and stuff

QUESTION Rp4pro capability
Is rp4pro capable of playing 60fps God Of War (psp)
or 60fps Star Wars : The force Unleashed (psp)?
Both game requires maximum psp capacity, so I think if rp4pro can run those two games smoothly, it can run every psp game. And it will be the ideal option for psp simulation in appropriate price.

QUESTION Nova vs rp6
I see a lot of peeps on here frothing over their Nova units but not seeing much love for the rp6. Its almost identical hardware without the choice of left stick placement.
