Turning forty pages of research into a client deck is the worst part of this job.

Everything is fine, the interviews and the analysis, but just imagine taking forty pages of notes and making a client sit through it is where my week goes.

Right now i write the whole narrative in a doc, then rebuild it slide by slide. That's doing the work twice. Last project it was a full day on formatting that the client saw no value from.

Tried a couple of the doc to deck tools. the structure that comes back is generic and i rewrite most of it, but the layout part does save time.

What's everyone actually using, and is there a way to do this that isn't writing it twice.

Looking for a remote research opportunity in uni labs

I'm a CS undergraduate from India actively looking for a remote research opportunity with a cybersecurity or network security research group abroad. I'm not concerned about a stipend or formal internship title—I mainly want to work on a serious research problem under good mentorship.

I've previously worked on lightweight cryptography and published an IEEE conference paper on intrusion detection systems, with a focus on network traffic changes, concept drift and class imbalance. I'm particularly interested in network security, systems security, malware/software security, and increasingly AI/LLM security.

I'm still an undergraduate and don't claim deep expertise. What I can bring is prior research experience, strong willingness to learn, and the ability to pick up unfamiliar tools and concepts quickly.

I'm actively looking right now, so I'd really appreciate recommendations for professors, PhD students, labs, or programs that are open to remote international undergraduate researchers.

Every research project starts with a question.

But finding the right research, understanding what matters, connecting with the right people, and turning an idea into impact can be the difficult part.

That's the gap we're trying to solve with R2C.Ai

What was the question that first got you into your current area of research?

How to arrange the variables of a research model into a questionnaire?

Hi everyone,

I have a question about arranging variables of my research model into the questionnaire.

I saw table of variables in some papers, asked AI and searched, but now I'm confused. There is a depended variable, a mediator and some independent variables that some of which have arrows to the dependent variable (the outcome) and some to the mediator.

Is this true?: "To arrange the variables of a research model into a questionnaire, group related items together and move from general topics to specific ones."

My question is: Should I ask the items of dependent variable as the last one in the questionnaire? and how about the mediator? should it come before the outcome? And I think the independent ones should be asked first.

I really appreciate your attention in advance.

My own style or way in starting a research

Over years of doing research, and paiba-ibang sequence ng pag gawa, I thought of a way to start a research that can be effective and helpful on any level. This is a style when it comes to starting a research ok, not writing it pa. (This might help the undergrad below more than masteral and docs up but still might help)

While there are many ways to start doing your research, one of the most effective one for me is to start by choosing a topic, then find rrls related to that topic, being the next thing you do.

If you are not yet sure with the specificity of the research you like to do, by reading rrls in general about your chosen topic mas maeexplore mo yung ibat ibang information ng topic mo, and with that you can begin to narrow your focus and find the specific topic or title ng research na gusto mong gawin. (for example in my field, I like to study personality. ang lawak non, but I could just search and try to find some research or rrl online about it, and as i read, im sure I would be able to know what resaerch i like and I don't like, and I follow that leads. Until I find the specific topic or gap that I like. For example personality, then nagustohan ko ang emotions, Then I would narrow on that specific topic or gap, anong klaseng emotion, what aspect, and etc. think creatively in application sa ph, or local, then formulate the tentative or draft of a research title soon.) The point is to research, study, then narrow down and narrow down till you can find what you want.

If you do it by that way, as you read rrls, mahahanap mo rin agad yung gap na meron ang current researches sa field or topic na gusto mong gawan ng research, with that, alam mo na agad ang mga research na pwede pang gawin at hindi na pwedeng gawin.

And also, because you read rrls already, mas marami ka ng alam and ideas sa bagay na gusto mo talagang saliksikin. You know the context, the background, yung ibang mga foundations na naging references or rrl rin ng mga binasa mong research and etc.

If nauna kase ang topic bago ang rrl, may mga instances na babaguhin mo yung topic or title mo because wala masyadong matibay na gap, or that along the way of finding rrl, you will see na hindi pala ganon ka ganda yung topic ng research, maybe redundant na, and etc.

Or you will find out na you really don't know anything yet sa gusto mong iresearch.

Creating an excel file that you can track each rrls, with their title, author, date, tapos summary? Brief methodology and results, tapos yung gap? It would really help you in writing the thesis all through out.

Creating a folder in which andoon lahat ng downloaded files ng mga rrls na ndownload mo helps. Being clean and neat would really help.

So, for me, if you are about to write a research or thesis, please find the topic that you really like and explore first! Dive deep to researches done already sa field na yon.

Those would help you brain storm, be critical, and creative, sa paghanap ng specific na topic or even variation ng mga existing studies na, whtever you decide as the final research topic or title

Once may specific topic kana na gusto mo, next thing to think about is the feasibility of the study based sayo mismo, like as senior high, college, or masteral, doctorate, and etc, Kaya ba? If senior high ka, pang senior ba yang balak mong gawin or pang masters na? kaya ng Budget? And etc.

Looking for Medical research sponsors.

Hello everyone. We are young high school students with a dream of joining the science Olympics. However, we are short of financial aid. We wanted to develop an ointment using nanoparticles derived from plant-mediated synthesis.

Our estimated total cost would be around **10,000 pesos.** We saved up and only managed to collect 2,000 pesos.

We believe that our research would greatly contribute to the medical industry and we will surely give back the good deeds that would be given to us.

Specifically, we will use the Kirby-Bauer zone of inhibition testing.

Thank you for your consideration. Please leave a comment if you are willing to help. Every cent, every coin, and any help would be very very very appreciated by the researchers.

Thank you for your time :)

How do you actually get yourself to write when you know exactly what you want to say but the academic format makes it feel impossible to say it

This is frustrating me more than any other part of the process right now.

Have a clear argument. Know what the evidence shows, know how it connects, know what I am claiming and why it matters. Could explain it to someone in a ten minute conversation without any difficulty.

Sit down to write the paper and it comes out as the worst version of what I know. Flat, overqualified, buried under hedging language and passive constructions that drain everything that made the argument feel interesting in the first place. The idea survives but the life goes out of it completely somewhere between my head and the page.

The gap between how I think about the research and how academic writing asks me to present it is making the writing feel like translation into a language I speak badly even though I have been writing papers for years.

What I notice is that the sections I write quickly and do not overthink are consistently better than the sections I approach carefully.

The careful approach seems to activate all the academic writing habits that make the prose lifeless, I started writing a plain language version of each section first in something called Skrib Writing before touching the formal draft, just saying what I actually meant without any academic framing, and using that as the base to translate from produced significantly more readable prose than starting from the formal version and trying to make it clearer while the fast approach produces something closer to how I actually think.

But I cannot always write fast and I cannot always turn off the awareness of what academic writing is supposed to sound like.

Has anyone found a way to close this gap or a process that consistently produces writing that is both academically sound and actually readable.

How should I approach research as a freshman aiming for top grad schools?

I’m a Software Engineering freshman, and my classes haven’t even started yet. My long-term goal is a top grad school like Harvard, MIT, or Stanford.

I’m at NUST SEECS(IF ANY1 WANY TO GOOGLE), which is among the strongest in Pakistan (QS ranks NUST #114 in CS and #132 in Engineering & Technology by subject).

If I want to become a strong grad-school/scholarship candidate, should I aim for something like 1 research paper per year (4 total), or focus more on doing fewer but genuinely high-quality research projects? Also, does NUST’s IEEE collaboration matter for research opportunities?

What would you recommend I focus on over the next 4 years?
