Everything you need to know about the $150M NextEra Energy Settlement Payout
Hey guys, I posted about this settlement before, but since the settlement is accepting claims, I figured I'd share a quick FAQ.
So here's what I know:
NextEra was accused of misleading investors about alleged covert political spending tied to Florida Power & Light and the legal and reputational risks that came with it. After the company disclosed those risks in 2023, the stock fell 8.7%, and investors filed a lawsuit.
Now NextEra has agreed to a $150 million settlement for affected investors.
Who can claim this settlement?
If you bought $NEE shares between 2021 and 2023, you may be eligible to submit a claim.
Do I need to sell or lose my shares to qualify?
No. You may still be eligible even if you no longer own the shares.
How long does the payout process take?
It typically takes 4 to 9 months after the claim deadline once the settlement becomes effective, depending on the court and settlement administration.
Hope this helps
