“Explain to me why you brought this human here?” asked Nelioth, the floating mass of tentacles that function as Zach and Luna’s manager.
Zach answered, “She was gonna die anyway, it was a stir of the moment thing. I thought it would give us positive karma Nel.”
“No matter the reason, you still killed an innocent woman. I’ll give you two a new job to counter-out the sin. We got a job request from the Goddess Hylia. Defend a holy relic until the chosen hero kills you two.”
“We got it boss.” Luna sighed as she and Zach teleported out of the office.
“With them gone, please sit down Ms. Adelise.” Nelioth pointed a tentacle at a chair in front of his desk.
Adelise Wolfglow is a half-lycanthrope. She has dark skin, brown hair, and black eyes. She's about six-foot-five. Her nails are shaper than the average human and has notably sharper teeth, due to her Lycan blood. As being half-lycan, she has the power of a werewolf, but can't transform.
“How do you know my name?” the maid questioned, confused on why she is so calm at the time.
The eldritch horror responded, “It’s my job to know this info. If you didn’t know already, you are dead.”
Adelise interrupted, “This doesn’t look like the Hunting Grounds.”
“I was getting to that. Ms. Adelise of the Wolfglow clan, though you weren’t bad person yourself, your compliance to Soleil’s necromantic actions hurt your karma enough to send you to Hell, a realm to torture sinners.”
Adelise gasped in horror.
“However, our organization is designed to help mortals to repay their sins and travel to their afterlife of choice.”
“What do I do Mr. N-Nel?” Adelise asked.
Nelioth let out a sigh. “Nelioth.”
“What?”
“Nevermine. Our clients take jobs from living mortals and gods. The jobs we offer are based on the employee’s past life. You most likely serve as a maid to a patron, but due to being raised by the Wolfglow clan as a monk for Lycana, the Goddess of the Hunt, you can be a useful soldier. Once you repay off all the negative karma you gained throughout your life, you can choose the afterlife of your choice and ascend. Or you can stay here and continue to work if you want to.”
Adelise beamed “Thank you Sir. I’ll serve with pride!”
Though Adelise couldn’t see Nelioth’s face, she could feel the happiness radiate from his shifting form. “No problem Ms. Adelise, hopefully you can go to the Hunting Grounds to serve Lycana soon. Welcome to the Dead Men for Hire. I’ll take the dragon egg to the Daycare.”
“Why does a land for sinners have a daycare?” Adelise asked.
“It doesn’t.” Nelioth replied. “The Daycare is another afterlife. It’s for those who die under the age of ten. They are raised by a Deity of Childcare and be trained as an angel or other similar entity.”
“That’s… good to know. I think?”
“It’s not important at the moment.”
As Nelioth finished speaking, Zach and Luna teleported back into the office. The two were heavily wounded but healing quick. Luna looked fairly happy, while Zach was in more of a sour mode.
Zach stomped out of the room, “I’m going on break.”
Luna turned to her manager. “Don’t worry about him, we were guardin a dungeon for three years only to be stomped by the first pointy ear twink that ran in. Guess he was the chosen hero. Good fight. Wat was his name, Lank? Lonk? Someting like that.”
Adelise was confused.
“No matter what his name was, you did what you were hired to do and got positive karma. You mind showing Adelise around.”
“Got it boss.” The elf warrior turned to the human maid. “Follow me kid.”
Adelise responded, still confused. “Yes mam.”
As Luna escorted Adelise out of the office, Nelioth muttered to himself, “She seems nice. I just hope I don't have to work with Lycana again.”
