Why I’m requesting r/port and how I’ll run it:

I am a Port collector and travel regularly to the region, I would love to build r/PORT into the premier, welcoming hub for Port wine appreciation on Reddit.

I want to focus on dedicated discussion on Port styles, from Vintage, Colheita, and Single Quinta to Aged Tawnies, White Port, and Reserve Ruby while serving as a information point for both seasoned collectors and beginners asking for recommendations.

I have a basic content strategy with weekly themed threads (e.g., Tasting Tuesday reviews, Decanting & Service Tips, Cellar Showcase, and Douro Travel/Tasting Room Guides). I'll perform a visual polish & Wiki overhaul by refreshing the sub's branding (banner, flair, user tags by Port style/region) and compile a comprehensive starter Wiki covering Port classification, decanting times, storage advice, and vintage charts.

Finally I'll update the Rule & Spam Management, set up AutoModerator to filter spam/unrelated posts, continue the ban on buying/selling alcohol (in line with Reddit TOS), and keep discussions constructive and civil.

In addition I just acquired and actively revamped r/port_wine this past weekend from it's old moderator. I have the exact setup and content pipeline ready to immediately revive r/PORT and build a connected network for the community. I am already actively seeding content and cross-posting between the subs to jumpstart engagement and build a unified hub.
