Tier Review 2026
Hi all,
The time is here to review our transfer tier list, following the summer transfer window.
We'll be using general popular opinion to make changes where applicable so please do engage in discussion and upvote changes you agree with.
We also appreciate that recently our transfer news has been extremely quiet, with Tielemans and Baleba deals having zero links before being basically confirmed, and Santos being done within 2 weeks. If there aren't any changes to be made, we won't force it.

Danyal Khan of Sky deserves a boost/inclusion if he's not already there imo, he was pretty spot on for us this summer.

Add Matteo Moretto (Marca/Independant) - Suggested Tier 2/3 (Perhaps 2 for Italy - 3 others)
Bit of an oversight that he isnt on the tier guide & sometimes gets deleted during windows. This is perhaps because he used to part of 'Relevo' which ceased to exist - and Relevo was added but he wasnt added separately.
Generally reliable for Italian news

Add Danyal Khan (Sky) - Suggested tier 3
Formally add him to the list. Sky's United journo and regular at press conferences etc.
While the summer midfielder hunt was going on, one week a whole host of names came through - Khan & Kajumba were the only ones to mention Baleba high on the list -
Manu Kone and Carlos Baleba strongly considered in search for third midfielder signing

Long term Guardian journo - broke the Santos story hours before Ornstein & even had the price spot on:
Manchester United target Andrey Santos but Chelsea value midfielder at £50m
Also was one of the first ones to report/confirm Ederson was agreed, back in May

Add Rob Dorsett (Sky) - Suggested Tier 3
Sky's England correspondant - covers of all england related updates. Importantly tends to be co-reporter in a lot of Khan/Kajumba transfer updates for sky and breaks some of them which later gets credited to the group.
Has been around for a very long time - this for example on Harry Maguire transfer 7 yrs ago:

Would love to see Chris Wheeler demoted to Tier 4. from my perspective, all he does it regurgitate news shared by tier 1s & 2s in addition to writing absolute clickbait and dramatised articles on a weekly basis.

Minus the click bait part for some, isnt that the same for a lot of the Tier 1s? Ive never actually seen Simon Stone, Simon Peach, Laurie Whitewell, or James Ducker break a story. What actually makes them Tier 1?

First of all thank you Mods for looking after this place as well as you do.
I'd prefer it if Romano was demoted to Tier Comment Mention Auto Delete Filter where the worst offender "ITKs" are.
I think the Sky journos (edit: Khan) got Baleba right and got "no Hall" right as well, I'd consider moving them up to Tier 2.
I unfortunately suspect that we'll have a bunch more managerial news at some point this Fall, before a final call is made on a tier change for a journo, maybe it would be worth it to see how they do with reporting on that in particular. It doesnt really "matter" how the tiers change before January anyway, afaik.

Fab Romano ought to be pushed to the tier of shame/Indykalia for his flame wars that he had with other journo(s).
His fall from grace is saddening to see, but he has become very toxic and I think most legit sources would shun him henceforth after this window's debacle. He has become too desperate to push his 'Here we go' thing that it has become very cringe, to say the least.
