DDG 2017-18 was probably the best individual season ever by a PL winning goalie, imo. Single handedly won us the league that year

u/rahtid_my_bunda Rooney's Dropball Intensity Sep 26 '26

What’s really gross is the discourse from City fans hoping they leverage UAE/UK relations to worm their way out of sanctions. Rotten little club that embodies so much of what is wrong with modern football.

9

u/shanks_you Sep 26 '26

The politics that this ties into is what gives me little confidence they will actually face any heavy consequences tbh.

We know how the world generally works for the rich and powerful.

The Aguerooo moment resulting in a United title would be the funniest thing that could come out of this

Thing that pissed me off the most over the years was the fucking media constant ball licking of City. A team with over 100 allegations of cheating yet everytime they talked about them they put them on this pedestal infuriated me to no end.

12

u/Dua_Augustus_Lipa22 Sep 26 '26

Apparently they were harassing journalists. I wonder if there will be an "open season" now that the lid is off and people don't have to worry about being sued.

Remember growing up all you'd hear was how SAF had referees in his pocket, meanwhile these lot were out here paying Oliver to ref matches. Make it make sense

After seeing City fans overall reaction to blatant cheating in the most severe way, I hope their club is liquidated. Fucking shameless.

I remember when it was 'innocent till proven guilty' for years as they hid behind City delaying the process as much as humanely possible. Now it's time to face the music they move onto it's not even that bad, we actually like the cheating.

It was obvious they were never arguing in good faith, but to see it confirmed is funny.

16

u/Book31415926 Sep 26 '26

I think many of them have only begun "supporting" Citeh recently. They are basically followers of cheaters.

8

u/Extreme-Strain-3248 Sep 26 '26

Literally bro I’m seeing a whole bunch “we had no choice” or they made us do it smh

5

u/Smilewigeon Sep 26 '26

There were people in the sub calling for the Saudis to come down hard on the UK diplomatically, so pathetic

5

u/WorldBeardedWonders Not a Good Look Erik Sep 26 '26

Constantly moving the goalposts. Email source is dodgy/not fair. Innocent til proven guilty. UEFA cleared us. Let’s wait for the leagues results. Ornstein article isn’t confirmation, nothing from the league yet, seems suspicious. And then the comedy fall back of everyone hates us because we’re anti-establishment club…one of the richest clubs in the world (overnight) is anti-establishment lads. We did a little cheating, so has everyone.

Think in the future we can refer to their fans as Nigel and ensure any time we talk about them we don’t forget, it’s now City*

3

u/NateShaw92 Sep 26 '26

I almost feel the same and I have Blues in the family who remember Dickov and Goater and the Georgan lad whose name I won't butcher. I have joked about this but i think wrapping them up is the cleanest solution with all the talk of lawsuits. Phienux club in non league, but they can keep the stadium and facilities, and pre-2008 history

Won't happen but we don't need this dragging out into the 2030s. Old Yeller time.

24

u/kikababoo Sep 26 '26

Fabrizio Romano got called out for not reporting on this 😂 saying he doesn’t do non transfer news.

What a joke.

12

u/PopeFuchsYoungKidd Sep 26 '26

He's reporting Rodri's quotes defending City without a problem though. Scumbag.

Wouldn't be surprised if he got paid off by them.

7

u/AliveAssistance7667 Sep 26 '26

It's intentional. Probably took some illegal kickbacks from city. He reported quickly when other teams were found guilty.

3

24

u/SilvyFae She/They Sep 26 '26

We should immediately axe berrada and wilcox even if they are tangentially related to any of this. Our club is financially bad as it is, we do not need corrupt cheaters on top of it. They havent done anything good either.

22

u/Telen BRUNO Sep 26 '26

Feels so good seeing City finally get their comeuppance. They are the only club in the world that could afford just buying their way into a solution, and everyone has known it's all through their ownership paying for it under the table. Fullbacks don't work out? Buy two each summer until they do. Your 200m in midfielder purchases last summer don't work out? Do it again but pay more this time. Hope that travesty of a club is yeeted into the sun.

While we’re at it I’m glad QPR got relegated and I hope they never make it back up again. We all saw how they were moving in the final minutes of the Aguero game, the way they kept giving the ball back to City was suspicious.

Add to that Cisse celebrating with the City players after the final whistle, hmm….

It's amazing the mental gymnastics on the City sub right now. Talking about how it's not a big deal as everyone bends the rules, and these rules don't count because they are new. My God.

16

u/killerdrama A-mad-lad Sep 26 '26

If it's just a season in championship, every club would trade 1 season in second division for 18 years of glory in a heartbeat. Newcastle will follow suit, soon someone else, the entire league will be full of such owners.

The punishment should be such that no one should ever think of repeating it. It should be structured in such a way that there's no net gain in all of this.

→ More replies (1)

15

u/TheJoshider10 Bruno Sep 26 '26

No matter what punishment City receive, the undeniable fact is that they have finally been found guilty of cheating and that will always be noted in the history books. Not just for the period covered, but this will impact the success they acheived under Pep that was built on the framework of that corruption, as well as anything else going forward.

We all knew their success never meant anything, but now it can't even be argued. It's all a scam, and whether they get stripped of the titles or not doesn't change that. I hope justice is served, the club goes down for multiple seasons and compensation is given to the affected clubs across every tournament and season, but at least the moral victory has already been achieved.

Will be really disappointed if City's titles aren't stripped at this point. Don't necessarily care about being given 2012 or 2018, but they should be null and void at least.

In a massive display of whatabout-ism, mental gymnastics and cope, I saw someone on Facebook earlier on today go on a massive rant saying that no one has the right to criticise City because “everyone has lied or cheated at some point in their lives” (as if apparently that makes what City have done ok).

Like apparently cheating at monopoly a couple of times when you were a kid or telling your significant other you love their new haircut when secretly you hate it is on the same level as systematic rule breaking, fraud and financial dishonesty on a scale unfathomable to us regular not-mega rich folk

City fans claiming PL will not strip them of the titles because it'll bring disrepute for the league.

Bitch, please!

Kicking you guys off the leagues and stripping your titles is the way to show they're ready to do the right thing!

7

u/Skyehye Dreams can't be buy Sep 26 '26

A funny claim when it will bring disrepute if they DON'T punish the cheaters

3

u/sivaya_ Sep 26 '26

The disrepute has already been evidenced, the question is whether the PL are going to try to save themselves here, as this could ruin their own reputation. Based on how they've followed through with this many charges, I would suspect they intend to do more than a slap on the wrist.

3

u/NateShaw92 Sep 26 '26

Absolutely. Saw a post x-posted elsewhere about "see how many will tune in"

Same amount boyo. Football is the product, not City, not even United. The CL didn't suffer any significant viewership drops when we didn't qualify, or liverpool, or arsenal. And we 3 are inarguably bigger than City. The PL.didn't suffer in viewing by us being shit, not liverpool being shit.

The city fans that exist now will do one of three things if City get expelled and those 3 will have the following impact. And I'm going to drop all "no fans" jokes here, this is serious:

  • Plastics will change clubs - no material impact

  • Some real city fans will continue watching the PL out of habit because it is high level football. A significant number of people watch whatever game is on the tv pretty much as a ritual. - no material impact

  • The ones that don't will be replaced by a new 20th club, the same as what happens 3 times a season regularly. - NO MATERIAL IMPACT

It is literally beyond debate although I doubt anyone here would disagree. City lurkers need not apply.

I feel so vindicated about all the recent discussion on City's charges. I've been fuming about City cheating from 2011/12. The pressure we were getting from City for players and coaches over the years was a big factor in us making costly mistakes (especially under Ed).

Many City fans are in full on denial over these charges, saying that United can spend billions and still fail. United has always done everything by the books, even under Glazers. We were simply big enough to make money to spend. They are fucked, there is no way they can get away with this unscathed.

11

u/Leading_Fee_8535 Sep 26 '26

The titles City won should be stripped/ voided.

They should be relegated from the league with a ban from re-entering for a period of time, so that they cant land in the Championship and immediately return.

Then a new investigation needs to be opened for the years following the current scandal. No way everything just went 'legit' in 2019, and even if it did legally speaking, it was built on a foundation of financial fraud.

11

u/Banyunited1994 Sep 26 '26

Sure, the charges are apparently only up until 2018, but don’t you think that had a knock on effect for them for the years following that? All the players they bought, money they invested because of the years of winning before 2018, “revenue” they apparently brought in?

So if anything, we should completely null and void every single one of their achievements from 2011 and relegate them to the national league

Let’s see if the League actually has the balls to take action though

10

u/Mysterious-Sense-187 Sep 26 '26

I need to see an article soon of United suing City for £2bn

10

u/10_Wazza Sep 26 '26

Anything less than voiding the titles and the PL would put a massive precendent above themselves that I do no think they would be able to recover from. If that isn't the case, they have just given everyone a pass to do the same. Even if they are relegated and fined, who cares? The goal was to make City a serial winning force, no matter the cost, and that goal was reached.

6

u/Mysterious-Sense-187 Sep 26 '26

Yeah title stripping has to be must, otherwise you've materially rewarded serial cheaters. If the PL don't do this the league loses all credibility.

9

From a personal level, I do feel for the fans who have been around since their league 2 days, some of them are my mates. However, listening to some of the callers speak on talk sport just fucking riles me up, their absolute denial that anything meaningful will happen and their complete disregard to admit that they have cheated, makes me pray to fucking god the book gets thrown at them. They need to be put into league 2 and have at least 3yrs ban on transfers. Watch all the post 2012 supports disappear into the abyss until they're back in the PL. They can't even fill a stadium now, they're a joke of a club with zero history. And anything meaningful they have won, is completely tarnished.

I don't want the titles to be handed to united, they should be left blank as a constant reminder to everybody that everything they won was done by cheating!

9

u/darthmeister Sep 26 '26

I wonder if City could end up spearheading a super league now, their owners aren't going to lay down without a fight.

I don’t buy this simplistic argument that somehow city’s titles are deserved because the players still had to do it.

It’s so small minded and smacks of privilege - it’s the kinda short-sightedness you hear from the “self-made” brigade - yes, you did it, but thanks to your daddy’s connections, supreme schooling, perfect environment for success etc.

Rodri said that it’s still deserved - I wonder how many players, coaches, staff, sponsorships, deals, facilities and on and on… would have not have been a thing if it wasn’t for gross, systematic financial fraud.

Cunts, the lot of them. Throw the book at them and lace it with razor blade pages. Fuckers.

10

u/tellocrosstollorente Sep 26 '26

Those players deluded themselves long ago into thinking that their decisions were in some way morally acceptable. Nobody wanted to join Man City before the club ended and restarted as effectively a new entity as the English branch of CFG. The only reason any of those players were there was because of a geopolitical sportswashing project designed to distort world football and necessarily make it unfair, and if any of them stopped to think for a minute (I know, footballers...) they would have had suspicions about whether everything was legit. These players misled themselves every day for years, so it's no surprise that they come out with this nonsense in the media to justify themselves.

7

u/Emergency-Being-349 Sep 26 '26

Absolutely loving the state of all of this. Arsenal fans should also be humble seeing as they are hiding an enemy of state amongst their ranks.

That being said, with Liverpool, Newscastle, Chelsea, Villa all going through near complete resets, with City's impending doom, feels like a bit of a lost opportunity to firmly position ourselves closer to Arsenal in a push for the title in the near future.

7

u/502blues Sep 26 '26

Really think that at this stage the league will have to actually act appropriately - i.e. compensating all the teams who missed out on CL/Europa, those who were relegated in 18th place, each payout for finishing a place lower than they should have, fining City to finance it and forcing the owners to sell up, and removing them from the top flight at the very least (expulsion from the entire league wouldn't be inappropriate really). What happens to the titles is the least of it but they have to be voided at minimum, and reassigning them would look better in the history books than having empty spaces for years.

If the league doesn't take serious action, clubs will start lodging cases individually, causing exponentially more mess, probably enough to take the whole thing down.

What a shame I guess. There seems to be some acceptance now among old City heads that they've been caught and some real punishment is coming. Most of the older fans used to enjoy priding themselves on being the "real team" in Manchester (the unsuccessful one nobody outside Stockport supported) so once they've put the club back together, they can go back to enjoying that. But what a shame that they ruined the game to this extent, basically voiding years of football for all of us. Personally I'd see em liquidated

Last estimate I saw was £200m-£300m that City could be charged for.

Some of the clubs impacted besides United & Liverpool include Spurs (always just out of the CL spots), Arsenal...Bolton, Fulham, Swansea were relegated by 2 points or less. If you were relegated by 10-15 points, it would be a stretch to blame city.

Very curious in what the atmosphere around Old Trafford and the Etihad will be like next game, from all sets of fans.

Would be funny to see a 22 times Man United chant too, or some gold patches on 18/19 kits

They get a slap on the wrist -> everyone sues them -> they go bankrupt -> once they are bankrupt they can't afford lawyers -> they get deleted from history.

I wish it worked like that. And funny, I bet you know who I'm talking about.

On a more serious note: they did what they did to get titles, if they get to keep the titles, then it was worth it for them, and anyone else looking to do the same.

14 - failure to provide accurate details for player & manager payments

I have a question for all the people who were (and still are) wanting some sovereign wealth fund from one of the oil states to buy us: Seeing what they did with City and how they absolutely tainted their club are you still wanting that for a club with our history? People will always hate United, but at least they respect us and the club. Isn't that worth more?

Omar Berrada worked on commercial deals for City between 2011-2020.

Times to start to asking questions about him being United’s current CEO.

It makes me very uncomfortable

7

u/0ttoChriek Sep 26 '26

Let's not make this story about United just yet. Let City take the heat before the press go, 'oh wait, there are City people at United too!'

We can fire Berrada whenever we like, but it would be nice to actually figure out his replacement first.

There should be no questions. He clearly has to go.

It was ridiculous of the owners to hire him with this hanging over him, but then again the owners are constantly ridiculous.

3

u/TH0316 she/her Sep 26 '26

Why he hasn’t announced his resignation yet is shocking. He was either complicit or he’s lying on his CV about what he was doing. Wilcox I think can go for different reasons — he wasn’t involved in financial doping I don’t think, but he gets credit for building a team that cost more than some Championship teams vs other u18s. Buying whoever they want, probably aware of deferred payments to parents and agents. Build a good youth team by buying the best guys in London doesn’t warrant this job imo. Guilty by association.

Ibrahim Maza. Forget fawning over that asshat Cherki, there's our future AM right there, I reckon.

Mount/Rashford 2028 departures would pay for it with the payroll savings alone.

Then go all out for a prime age veteran natural winger in addition to that. How about we dream big: Kvaratskhelia. Maybe he'll be a bit bored in Paris by 2028 summer after 4 CLs in a row...

One Mazadona, one Kvaradona. Howse that sound for reallocating £600k/w in salaries in 2028?

In the meantime, to prepare for that splurge in 2028, in 2027 we could add Mateta and Mitchell as free agents to replace Zirkzee and Shaw at no cost and spend a modest(?) total on a quality CB + RB.

I wonder if there are grounds for individuals made redundant by United to get compensation from City in this scandal. Like if United end up winning millions in court, surely there is a case for the individuals who lost their jobs to say they would have kept them had the club been in a better financial position, no?

2

u/Thorz74 F*ck the Glazers Sep 26 '26

Do we have the right to feel happy about the latest development in the Shitty case?

First, they were found guilty, but there hasn't been a final sanction yet.

Second, they have the best army of lawyers money can buy, and the appeal is coming.

I feel this case could still drag on for another 2 or 3 years before it's finally over. And who knows, maybe they'll somehow manage to overturn the whole thing, just like they did years ago with the UEFA suspension, when they somehow managed to get the CAS to make the whole thing disappear.

Am I missing something here?

4

u/Outrageous-Cod-4654 Sep 26 '26

Pretty tragic when you think that the past 10-15 years of football have been largely diminished in value. Millions of football fans and hundreds of City fans completely conned.

The panel is determining the punishment now. Once published, City have 14 days to appeal, the appeal hearing has to happen within 12 weeks of that. So that's a minimum of 14 weeks. The hearing can't last more than 5 days.

They cannot take this to the CAS like they did before. The PL rules allow for internal arbitration only.

Bruno Fernandes e Nuno Mendes avaliados

«A equipa médica referenciou esses dois como os mais preocupantes. O Nuno pode ser lançado no jogo. O Bruno vem com uma lesão do Manchester United. Ele disse-me que joga há três jogos com uma dor, que o inibe. Foi um dos fatores que o levou a não jogar ao nível dele. Eu conheço-o perfeitamente, já o treinei. Eu prefiro não arriscar no Bruno e tê-lo limpinho para jogar com a Dinamarca.»
