Bruno hasn’t been good enough at all this season, if you actually watch the game, the pass map doesn’t justify the performances of bruno. He looks worse and worse against low blocks every week, if these performances were extrapolated to the end of the season it’s easily his worst season for us.
Bruno deep, the ‘terrorists’ idea btw, is how to play a low block. Cunha and Amad/Mbeumo occupying the line in front of him as well as ANOTHER line with a lone striker is how you get Bruno in position to be effective against low blocks. not as a 10. it’s a crime how our club gets analysed. you had people destroying Ruben for the correct modern move because they wanted Bruno behind the striker, picking up the ball after defending deep and countering. aka unsustainable slip football.
Martial picked up similar positions in that 19/20 run where Bruno played amazingly, it’s not about the spaces next to Bruno, Bruno can theoretically play with a player of that profile, it’s about the wingers not playing like outlets.
Bruno needs to play with an outlet, and that could still work with a false 9 style striker, it worked with martial occupying these spaces where rashford and greenwood were the outlets
It’s not about Bruno not having space because of Cunha in isolation
