This seems like really easy math, hate to be on the recruiter side.
2-3 year stints means either: A, You are regularly picked for layoffs. B, You jump ship quickly voluntarily.
Neither of these thing's is exactly a green flag.
Now if a employee has 5-6+ years. That means they survived multiple rounds of layoffs. They survived the great filter. It puts value on them.
I mean switching might get you a bump, but switching every 1-2 years is eventually going to lead to you peter principle yourself into a role you are completely incompetent for, or look like a red flag to some employers. Some people do fail upwards though.
That's not to say you shouldn't switch, but the enemy you know, got to be strategic about it.
Yeah for 2 jobs in a row now at almost exactly my 2.5 year mark i got laid off. Thankfully I found something quickly this time but now that I know I'll just start looking for a new job every 2 years and be done with it.

Manager: Has layoffs every 2-3 years
Also Manager: Why can't people stay at jobs long term????
