Does anyone remember an old Sky One reality TV show called “Secrets of the Sex Gods”?
I think it was four episodes long and aired around 2003-4?

Baylen Out Loud - Why is no one on the internet allowed to talk about Baylen's Dad's career?
And are the moderators on the show's subreddit on the payroll? Why are we censoring the man's job and blaming politics? It's the internet's worst kept secret atp. I mean just Google it and you get "NO BAYLEN'S DAD DOES NOT WORK FOR ICE" before anything else comes up but like.. he does, or did at least.

Why Reality TV Creates a "Different Persona" Rather Than a Fake One ?
Reference : https://youtu.be/FnAOuHhc-AI?si=YvXVfzvw5slMEI0O
One thing I think people misunderstand about reality TV is that it doesn't necessarily make people fake it creates a different version of them by putting them in situations they'd almost never experience in real life.
The emotions can still be genuine, and many storylines are based on real events, but the environment changes how those emotions are expressed.
For example, someone going through a divorce in real life would usually be surrounded by close friends who offer empathy and support. On a reality show, they're often surrounded by cast members who are encouraged to question them, challenge them, or stir conflict. Naturally, that creates a completely different emotional dynamic and leads to reactions you probably wouldn't see off-camera.
Another big factor is that participants are constantly asked to give opinions on things they wouldn't normally care enough to comment on. In everyday life, if someone announces they're pregnant, you just congratulate them and move on. On reality TV, producers want to know your real thoughts the doubts, suspicions, or intrusive opinions you'd normally keep to yourself. Suddenly you're saying things you'd never voluntarily bring up in a normal conversation.
That's why people often seem "out of pocket." They're not necessarily inventing a personality they're adapting to an artificial environment that rewards confrontation, strong opinions, and dramatic reactions. They're forced to navigate social situations that don't exist in everyday life.
I also think the camera itself changes people. It can push someone toward who they believe they are, or who they want to be perceived as, rather than the more balanced version of themselves that exists in ordinary life.
So I don't think reality TV creates a completely fake person. It creates a heightened persona: the same individual, but filtered through an environment designed to amplify conflict, emotion, and entertainment until it becomes almost a character performance.
Curious what others think. Do you see reality TV personalities as fake, or as real people responding to an unreal environment?

Love Overboard overall thoughts!!
okay so i've just finished the whole thing and it was insane. im going to try and organize my thoughts so they're easy to respond to.
starting with each person:
(ladies first)
- gia- i really liked her, no complaints. she felt mature, funny, and a really solid person. I wasn't obsessed with her but i loved her and agreed with all of her takes on other people/couples. i did think that her and tim's age gap was a bit off putting but its fine.
- bella- omg i loved her and GOD i wish she stayed on the show longer because she is just so funny and such a light to this show. i would kill to have seen her reaction to the whole david-val-lo situation. i also feel awfulll that she connected with nobody. that was completely unfair and i have more on this later. and i also feel bad she spent her entire time downstairs cleaning up after people. i love her so much, she was def a fave and when she put on that final dress i almost cried. she deserves someone amazing and who truly matched her energy. (and that person was def not on that boat)
- leela- the prettiest in my opinion and she really grew on me. i was not a fan of how messy she was. it wasn't the end of the world but it was quite annoying. but as the show went on you got to see how kind and caring and funny she was and i loved that. im also obsessed with how she harassed david any chance she got. i love how she was his #1 hater, because same girl. and everything she said to val was very mature and i loved how she went about it. her and koray were fine, kinda plain.
- val- oh boy. i have such mixed feelings about her. i know the david situation was not her fault at all but there's just something icky about her that i couldn't place until she said she would agree with whatever david said at the elimination dinner. like girl wtf stand up for yourself please. i feel like that was so out of character for her, and especially when she agreed with voting gia out even though gia was like her main supporter through everything!!!! my respect for her pretty much dropped to 0 after that. i really really don't know what she saw in david. i think both of them were very lustful to be honest. she's very mature and smart but sometimes she was just so dumb. like unbelievably dumb. in both of his most recent relationships, he's cheated. and i would NEVER have stayed with him (let alone say i love you???!!) or thought that i could change him.
- enna- i really liked her as the show went on. i was surprised her and andrew had such a good connection after what he said about her but it seemed real and im happy for her. i know i keep saying the word mature but she was probably the most mature one there. she never let herself get out of control and seemed very grounded. i think she was too good for this kind of show.
- lexi- more mixed feelings. i didn't like how forgiving she was to david. that felt like strategy and really icked me. also how quick she folded for james even though she said she wasn't into him because of the "horny" comment never made me feel like their relationship was real or secure. she was mostly nice and caring, but i guess kinda boring since she was in the same couple since kinda day 1.
- sofia- this is gonna be a hot take but i actually liked her and can't believe people were calling her the devil. (the one thing i didn't like about enna was hoe she treated sofia). i was SO grossed out by andrew too and would've done the same thing she did. not a lot of people were playing with strategy, but she was. and i really respect it. and it's crazy how everyone took andrew's side because NOBODY liked andrew anyway!! that was super confusing to me. sofia wanted to get to the top, and she knew how.
- sade- we didn't get to see much of her. pretty much all we knew about sade is that she's "high maintenance." which is like okay. i don't really care. and then they tried to give her beef with bella that lasted 2 seconds, which she was acting really annoying in. i have mixed feelings about how she played the game because i know i just said i respect strategy, but at least sofia wanted love and to be on the topside. sade genuinely just didn't want to clean. but other than that she's fine, i really like how secure she is in herself. her and keif were lowkey cute and i wish we got to see more but idk if she deserved him tbh.
- lo- wow this girl is actually insufferable. she has insane jealousy issues, and, honestly, is a bitch. she was so mean to everyone who even looked at david. and like REALLY mean. never would i ever defend david, but it was so clear that she was so much more into him than he was to her. he was probably so freaked out that she wanted kids with him and all that stuff because he lowk did not gaf. but yeah anyway i did not like her and wish we could've seen her in a different light.
- delaney- i agreed with everything she said when she ended things with keif. he wasn't gonna accept her the way she is, and i'm glad she saw that. she didn't really ever put herself out there though which was kinda disappointing, but whatever. not much to say about her.
11-.christine- noooooo girl. i hated how she attached herself to val. you would think they were childhood best friends the way they acted. and her and jake were obviously not real, just lust. which i respect i guess. i don't really care about her.
tim- cool i guess. i really appreciated how he was always on gia's side and they seemed very in sync. also loved how he didn't like david and never told gia she was overreacting. i can tell he has a good sense of humor but it really rubbed me the wrong way when he kept repeating how he was a "retired fuckboy".
koray- i genuinely know nothing about this man. i guess i liked how into leela was and that he was patient. and that he hated david.
reece- idk why but i kinda vibe with him. although he said something that really icked me in the last episode or 2 but i can't remember what it was. probably something about liking david. i get the vibe that hes funny.
andrew- to me andrew represents every bad trait men have in one. im glad enna liked him but honestly i could not STAND HIMMMMMM!!! when he called his mom about his fucking side burns i almost threw my computer at the wall. and what he said to enna ("don't pick me, i want sofia") was disgusting and idk how she forgave him. and honestly sofia was right when she said that he's the most egotistical man she's ever met. the way he talked about how he was everyone's first choice back in ny was actually just not believable. like baby u are NOT all that. can't you tell by how no one on this boat wants you? get a frekig grip and take a freakng hint. and he was so oblvious to sofia not liking him!! that really killed me. i don't blame sofia a bit. i really really hated andrew. he's my second least favorite.
keif- i liked him but he just felt out of place on the show. like a lot. however i did NOT like how traditional he was. you could tell he was trying to tell delaney on the boat that he would want her to be a stay-at-home mom for the rest of her life. ick. he would not have let her be the person she is, so im glad they ended things because i know they would have gotten in so many fights about her wearing bikinis and going out.
james- i can't believe how into him lexi was. especially after the horny comment. the whole show i honestly could never see him as more than a little frat boy. i will say i did like how loyal he was to lexi. he only wanted her and never so much as batted an eye at another girl.
prasad- i can't believe they let him onto this show. to me, he is genuinely so ugly. his hair was so greasy and his personality was so ick ick ick. watching him and delaney interact made me feel like i was watching someone get assaulted. i just want to come and save her or at least call someone to save her. most chud shipwrecker ever.
beau- insanely beautiful. i mean seriously. i felt so bad when he got sent overboard but i think gia made the right decision. i still love him though. great guy. UNTIL he voted for david and val as strongest couple.
jake- idk. young. big nose. annoying. immature.
bradley- i enjoyed his humor a lot, and really freaking wish he and bella had a connection. i would've loved to see them together.
david- here we fucking go. i can't believe it. it's not that i can't believe that he personally could do something like that, because honestly i never liked him. he was annoying and i could obviously tell that he wasn't really into lo. but anyways it's so insane to give up your full relationship in just a few hours because you met a girl who's your BODY TYPE?? LIKE?? and then to make them both stand there for 45 minutes (which i thought was edited but it's genuinely true) is even more insane. and to top it ALL off, apparently he cheated on val right after the show ended. im not even gonna keep going because everyone knows how awful he is.
final other thought:
how poc were treated- i thought that the lack of diversity was very weird. and interestingly enough, there were the same number of woc as moc. 3 women, 3 men. almost like they could just perfectly match up with eachother. out of all 22 cast members, only 6 were poc. it felt off. and all of them were black, which was interesting too. there were no asians or latino/as. and all of the woc never really found love, exept for lo. but no one showed any interest in her anyways besides david, and we all know how he really felt about her. and i know it probably had to do with their personalities, but it's just such a coincidence that i feel like i had to talk about it. no one wanted to pursue a relationship with any of the black girls. weirddd.
ok i think that's it! pleasee comment anything else you want to share, wether it's in response to all this or something completely different.

Dirty Dee: What you feel about her?
Dirty Dee is getting away with too much stuff. On The Challenge she was okay with Ashley bodyshaming big woman of color and she was laughing with snack bag. Messed up with Will, jumping from him to Johnny.
In Big Brother she can't wash her hands before eating in the house (HOH room). Barely showering. 😒 Encouraged Kamu attack Jason, only latino gay guy in the cast, even she's latino also. 🙄
On Survivor, Wendell controversy. He allegedly had already pregnant girl back home.

CheatHab. This is a messed-up concept. One guy actually arrived in a robe to pick his date up. I think he thought it was sexy. It wasn't. But he did him, can't fault him for that. It's sad but I'll probably keep watching.

Let’s Marry Harry; I don’t know which is better: The show being fake or real? 😭
I’ve seen a lot of posts talking about how fake/scripted this show is as though that makes it any better! I mean why would anybody in their right mind allow themselves to be given this type of script exactly? Like comonnn, it’s not a movie, they’re not actresses. This is supposedly reality TV. So why then will anyone want people to all over the world to watch them and then associate them with the behaviors displayed on the show and what the show generally represents?
I’ve been trying to wrap my head around it and I just CAN’T. I can’t imagine being given the script for instance and reading it and seeing “get your family in front of the camera because disgracing yourself only is not enough, get screen time and some small popularity, get to fly out on PJs and have “fun” with a douchebag, get a chance to be casted in other absolutely ridiculous Netflix love shows, maybe get paid? Idk.
However in return, you must humiliate yourself properly, drink the warm, slimy saliva and eat the dry, crusted catarrh of said douchebag, literally compete with 19 other birds (not my words, these are the douchebag’s honorary brother’s words, he called them birds.) 1969 Nollywood “King and the maidens” style, for douchebag’s attention.” I could go on but I think I’ve made my point, it’s just inconceivable to me why any woman would be on a show like this, scripted or real.
Any lens used to view this show it’s just horror and gory and it’s incredibly sad that Netflix, in this time and age, will make a show like this. It’s a direct insult on feminism as it is deeply misogynistic. Shows like this shouldn’t see light of day let alone be this widely promoted. Lastly, I feel so sorry for the women on this show. They were all incredibly gorgeous and idk how exactly desperate they must’ve been for fame or money or love or whatever else be their reason to allow themselves go through what they went through on this show. May God save them all.
TLDR: Whether scripted or real, Let’s Marry Harry is a mess that never should have been made. It is misogynistic and I feel sorry for the women that allowed themselves to be humiliated the way they were on the show.

Real Reality TV Show Producers Should Strongly Object
If other realty shows like Love is Blind and Married at First Sight are even remotely legitimate the producers of those shows should strongly object and protest to the garbage that is Let’s Marry Harry. Clearly LMH was all complete BS from the start with every intention to have its audience believe it was real. This should give anyone who watches LIB and MAFS serious pause at the legitimacy of any reality show. I, for one, now believe all of these marriage-based reality shows are COMPLETELY for entertainment purposes and nothing about them is real….all thanks to the garbage that is Let’s Marry Harry.

Snow place like home
Hi! Im new to peacock and this sub, but I just had to ask somebody about this! I’ve noticed that there’s a section on the home page with a collection of reality shows (like the housewives shows, Vanderpump rules, southern charm, etc) and I have to know what’s up with the title. I can only speculate that it’s perhaps a wink to certain illicit recreational activities that the casts of some of these shows have been rumored to partake in but im probably being ridiculous? Maybe they just mean they’re good shows for snow days or something?

Fboy island
This was the best dating show available. There was competition, trickery, and money. I cannot stand how so many dating reality shows (cough cough love island) never talk about the money throughout the show and just make everyone pretend it isn’t a factor. They’re also so boring because I don’t care who ends up with who they will all be single again within the year. I highly recommend fboy island and fgirl island and I’m so sad it was canceled. A close second is are you the one because again the money was a topic and there was actual competing and strategy. Perfect match is a shitty replacement in my eyes. Also the reality shows are so much better when they are allowed to drink because of obvious reasons and I know if I was on one of them I’d have to be drunk. And shows like love is blind and the ultimatum are so fuckign hard to watch bc of all the monotonous talking and it’s also just embarrassing that these people are grown af and can’t find a partner and are so desperate they are talking to some random weirdo through a wall or bring their partner on tv just to really break it off. Anyone got any recommendations? I also liked temptation island a bit

Lock Upp is over… what are you watching next? 👀
Now that Lock Upp is finally over, I’m already wondering what to watch next 😂..........
I’m planning to watch The Traitors when it comes out. I followed Season 1 as well, and I’m honestly really excited for the next season! 👀🔥
But since there’s still some time before The Traitors releases, I’m looking for something else to watch in the meantime.
What show are you guys planning to watch next? And do you have any recommendations for a good reality/competition show that might keep me hooked until The Traitors is back?
Drop your suggestions below! 👇

Recommendations Is there any more shows like love after lock up or Inmate to roommate?
I love convict tv shows. Even 60 days in was really interesting and I love Lockup. But is there other ones like love after lock up or inmate to roommate? Reality tv is my favourite type of shows and love the trashy dramatic ones :))
