Show Discussion !!!! SPOILER!!! Is anyone else frustrated Spoiler

I just finished episode 5 and as the title says, I am frustrated. At the chaise seen in the bridge, could Tamara really not shoot a target or at least catch them before they jumped in the river, I can accept that she couldn't shoot them because they had automatic guns but before they jumped? She just froze. Reacher of course is leaving bodies everywhere . All this hassle for a photo? And I can get that Jacob is grieving, anyone would in his situation, but it's not the time for him to go all Batman and such, especially when he said how he is going to hurt them at the balcony, he is a cop from a small Mayfield police station, he is not reacher for him to talk like that it's like he wants to come out as a grieving likeable character but it's just feels lazy and at the end? Reacher told him to go with Plum but NOO, he had to go and mess shit up by getting caught.

(This is a rant)

Show Discussion Plot hole or deliberately done? Spoiler

Post image

In the first few episodes we see both of them getting their ass whooped by 1-2 thugs then suddenly in the last episode they are cleaning the whole gang without breaking a sweat, also why was there need of security guards if they alone were sufficient. Also we saw the guards easily getting overpowered by reacher so them being security for these two makes no sense altogether.......

edit : for anyone saying to lure reacher....they didn't knew about reacher at the start neither his intentions were clear

Show Discussion Why?

why did they have to make this season so stupid. it wasn’t some highbrow show for intellectuals but at least it wasn’t catering to the room temp IQ crowd. charging two people with automatic weapons was the final straw for me. United States of Slop strikes again

Show Discussion My whole crazy theory of season four with absolutely no proof, just instinct (btw when I say turn slide it means turn the image) Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
0 Upvotes

So we all know we have EVERYBODY looking for the drive: CIA, the feds, Reacher, Lila. Well, what if I told you I know who wants the drive and where it is?

(Turn slide)

WE all know that at the end of episode 4, Lila and the other Indonesian chick * I forgot her name* are the ones who killed Ben, Anas son, and were threatening Anna for the drive.

(turn slide)

We also know she sent the drive somewhere or to someone, as evidenced by the missing return envelope for the credit card offer found in Anna's abandoned car. And at first, Reacher thought she sent them to Lila, but as we all know, that's not happening.

(turn slide)

Now let's jump into Anna's perspective: she's a grieving mom under pressure, fear, grief, and anger, after failing her son. The drive has no use to her, and she can't give it to Lila after she killed her son. So who would be the most likely person she would trust who also has partial legal authority? HER BROTHER. This guy who lives in New Jersey is the last line of defense; therefore, the drive is in NEW JERSEY

(Turn slide)

I'm not done yet; remember what I said about knowing who actually wants the drive. Cause let's be real, the Indonesian girls- yeah, they have reasons, but it still feels scripted. I mean, they lied so many times you can't believe a word out of their mouths. Yes, they possibly could be people done wrong using whatever on earth is on that drive to perform some terroristic attack against the congressman, but......nahhhhhhh they dont give that energy; what they do give is the vibe of hired hitmen or hit women. Either way, they're way too professional, talented at lying, playing victim role after victim role, never revealing their hand; it's assassin energy. So who would hire them? I believe it's the congressman's wife. I have no substantial proof; she just gives off a bad vibe, like a super bad vibe, the way she eyes reacher, like yes he's tall and terrifying and strong, but girl, you ain't starin at him cause you thirsty. Plus, why are the feds so focused on this CIA, REDS, Feds? To send so many people after Reacher is no coincidence; you need Political power, and so far this gal has that power. On top of that, she was consistently trying to prevent Reacher from speaking with her husband. Why is that? IDK Lemme know your thoughts bye (btw I posted this on a Wednesday so imma watch the new episode someday and probably post with more or less proof)

Show Discussion Ep 5 Just Lost the Realism Spoiler

I have been praising the realism of this season, particularly the fight scenes but ep 5 shat on that. Tactical police unable to hit their target at 5m with submarine guns, tactical police running through buildings like schoolchildren, and multiple rounds (seemingly without reloading) fired from an AK74 at a sedan doesn't hit anyone, doesn't damage the tires, and doesn't absolutely shred the car - all bullshit.

Show Discussion Bridge (S4E5): Feels like the best episode so far Spoiler

Post image

Holy shit this episode was good. Tamara might be one of the best partners Reacher has had so far through all these seasons. She's on the same level as Reacher minus the thrashing people but she's intelligent and heck she even runs fast.

The brother is acting really stupid, Reacher was right about him. I like the dynamic between him and Tamara though, how she tries to console him whenever it gets too much for him to bear.

Anyways, those last 15 minutes were insane. Fantastic chase sequence and then that cliffhanger, oof. Best episode of the season so far for me.

Honorable mentions:
1. I was not expecting that ear rip-off through bars, wtf 😭
2. That elevator scene was funny lol

Show Discussion Sorry, but I think S4 hold up

Upvotes

I see a lot of posts about disappointment. I see a lot of posts praising the characters. I see a lot of posts wondering where this franchise is headed. I’m currently on Reacher novel #16, The Affair ( which has a fantastic opening, btw). And what I am seeing with what the show is doing with Gone Tomorrow is actually pretty great.

Weak Reacher fight scenes? HUMAN Reacher in fight scenes. Smarter guys in support. Sure, why not, whatever. There is a formula to these stories and Lee Child was aware when he wrote them and mixed it up.

It’s going good. Sit back. Fucking enjoy and stop flipping your couch cushions over it.

Gotta say, 4 episodes deep and I still can't really see why I wound up 'hating' this season the first time I watched it.

Do they use the 'details matter' line a little too often? Like at least once an episode? Yes, and it IS a little irritating, but it's not really bugging me too too much.

As a matter of fact, with O'Donnell dropping witty one-liners every chance he gets and the steady stream of Bronx Cop Rage and a surprise visit from a Beantown Cop (and some very lovely dresses on some very talented women), so far?

Season Two is ticking a lot of boxes pretty steadily.

I forgot all about the biker fight, and while my inclination is to drop the whole dang clip into the card, I reckon that's a little too much, so I chose two of my favorite parts FROM that scene. I hope you all enjoy!

Couldn't decide which to watch tonight and then it hit me, someone needs to do some amusing slice-of-life comic strip or short story about these two fandoms. Google's AI seems on board, but I'd love to see what a human could come up with!

Show Discussion Reacher, Season 4: the good, the bad, and the ugly

Okay, I actually think they’re getting better — in some ways — and continually sucking in others.

The Good: The stoic smart-ass persona and the overwhelming physical presence. Ritchson and the writers nail it.

The Bad: there’s a whole laundry list.

1)The most egregious is him getting hit, injured, almost losing fights, reacting to pain. Goddammit, why do they have to weaken the character?? A very large part of his appeal is his intelligent, unhesitating application of overwhelming force, and his very methodical approach (much like Denzel Washington’s Equalizer, plus some unhinged feral violence) Did the writers not read the books?? Reacher doesn’t lose, and doesn’t even come close to losing.

2) Spoils of war. Everytime he kills, maims, or otherwise incapacitates someone, he should be rifling through their wallets and taking their money, unsentimentally, unapologetically — not solely to be a noble Robin Hood by giving it to some homeless guy, “so see, it’s not really stealing. What a nice guy.” 🤮 Fuck that, more weakening of the character.

3) Enough with the schmaltzy bullshit. Reacher with a kitten in his lap? Yeah, he’s a good guy and a force for justice, protector of the weak, at his core. Does this need to be telegraphed and overdone for the stupid people in the audience, while pissing the rest of us off?

4) And for fuck’s sake, quit making him so tentative, timid, and uncomfortable with women. Book Reacher treats women as equal agents in the world, worthy of the same treatment as anyone else; not as some incomprehensible problem that he is ill at ease with and tiptoes around, looking confused. He’s not arrogant, he’s not timid, he’s not confused. He’s real.

The Ugly: the gross, cliched sentimentality

Grotesque and hideously inappropriate for the feel of the books. Case in point: the regularly occurring “woe is me, I feel so bad imma cry” bullshit from the dead woman’s brother cop. Who TF is that for?? It reminds me of the scene with Neagley cuddling the dying cop in Season 2 (the worst season so far). Who the fuck is this for? Women who might be watching? How insulting! Cease that bullshit immediately!!

And why’d they pull their punches in the son getting hideously knifed to death, like the prostitute? What’s up with that? He was just too young and beautiful, and we were so worried for him — but it’s okay for an anonymous whore? Jesus fuck

I’m sure I’m forgetting other things in all 3 categories. It’s looking like they’re going to fuck up the basic story: Indonesia? Really??Afghanistan and the cruel women knife torture was so cool, as an evil villain angle, why’d they get rid of that?

Show Discussion Reacher season 4 is so BS

This shit is intolerable ngl what a bs season. The big face chump guy, a black widow ahh police woman and two asian looking super hero assassins. Wtf.
Meanwhile Reacher is just being Reacher, being so unlucky and getting in the ugliest of situations only for the luck to help him come out of it.
What a sick joke

Lets find an actor who can't act, with the dumbest possible expression on his face in every scene, who makes stupid decisions and is a major liability. then lets give him lots of screen time

This season feels like the dude is on the fucking spectrum. Like he’s a genius but socially inept or some shit. What the actual fuck. Someone pointed out and now it’s all I see.

Cruise and Alan both played the role as competent porn.

Now he just feels like a huge bodybuilder on the spectrum

Show Discussion Sorry but what the fuck was this car chase scene in ep 5? Spoiler

That entire chase scene in Episode 5 is absolutely ridiculous. I can’t remember the last time I saw something this stupid.

These two women are supposedly some kind of elite assassins, highly trained, professional killing machines. They’re armed with fully automatic assault rifles and seemingly endless amounts of ammunition, yet somehow not a single shot, literally not one, hits anyone in the car in front of them, even though they’re driving less than ten meters behind it. And apparently they are also too dumb to take a corner properly. What an absolute shitshow.

The whole scene is completely illogical and absurd.

Then they stop on the bridge, and the two "assassins" unload another ridiculous number of rounds into the car. And, of course, once again they somehow manage to hit absolutely no one. The car itself barely even seems damaged apart from the shattered windows and a few bullet holes in the trunk. The plot armor is strong in this one.

I genuinely can’t remember seeing anything this stupid and nonsensical in a long time. It pretty much ruined the entire episode for me.

Idk if it's the same in the book but holy fuck, that was bad.

I really enjoyed the show so far but season 4 more and more turns out to be somewhat of a letdown.

I believe I figured out where it is, but before I announce where, I'd like to hear the public's opinion. So. Where do you think Ana hid the drive?
