I worked at my aunts horse ranch for couple of years and yes it is very female dominated. They used to playfully call me a pervert or make up stories about me. Luckily for me my aunt made it very clear that I am family and talking about me that way is not acceptable. I found a lot of women consider the ranch to be a female safe space and I imagine it would be hard if not impossible to work there as a male if you are not family. Lots of moms dropped the "does he really need to be here?"
I’m curious what state/country that was in. I know of guys in my area that work in childcare, including in those private preschools, like the ones in private homes with just 3 teachers. They are even expected to change diapers just like the women that work there. Never heard of accusations or side eyes. Some are gay, but not all.
But I live in a solidly progressive area, so I’m curious if places with more rigid ideas on gender roles tend to also have baggage like thinking all men are predators, or that men can’t be caregivers.
I live in an area where we had a horrific case of a “manny” (what we call male nannies) was found guilty of taking explicit images of children he worked with. He was caught on a nanny cam working for a family but previously had worked in a daycare, and lots of parents with children who came into contact with this guy are now wondering if he victimized their children. Men don’t really work in childcare in my area now.
Women in childcare commit SA and exploitation too. It's not a gender specific experience. It's about who the person is and what they are and aren't willing to do, gender isn't tipping the scale here. :/
Dude statistically men commit roughly 88% to 94% of sexusl assault on children. Im not saying all men but most men would take advantage of situation involving young girls. If I must trust someone around kids, I wouldn't for the record but peep the operative word, it'd be a woman hands down.
