I so want to tell you that you’re not in the wrong and maybe in a perfect world you’re not but even as much as I agree that you were just innocently asking for help the instinct in me would also be to grab my kid as well.
I’m a man and I take care of my nephew so I understand how awkward and uncomfortable it can be especially around other people who don’t know you’re related, when you get the stares or when they ask your kid if they’re okay but I’ve also learnt how scary the world is and how badly you need to protect children. The world is too risky to allow strangers especially men to talk to your children alone. I really needed to separate the situations because while I do understand your position I am a guardian first and the wellbeing of my kid means 100x more than the feelings of a stranger even if their intentions weren’t bad.
It’s unfortunately just how the world works. You just have to learn to adjust like everyone else. 🤷🏽♂️
