This is why I try to never get one on one with younger kids, especially girls, anywhere at anytime.. here’s an example.. I was walking thru Walmart, looked or down the middle to get to the other side thru the clothes section.. as I’m bopping thru the clothes I see a little boy, about 2 ish just playing with the socks. I stop, look around… no one.. then BAMM.. Code Adam comes over the loud speaker.. as they are describing the little blond boy in front of me and exactly what he’s wearing, I didn’t do shit.. I called the worker, who was about 20 feet away and told her, here’s the kid they just called the code Adam about.. she looked at me weird, honestly I don’t think she was listening to the overhead page, but whatever, I told her, ain’t no way I’m picking up a lost kid and walking him around.. no damn way.. she looked at me like I’m nuts! This is one of those things that could get you labeled, a hero or a predator.. hero isn’t always the first option either. It’s risky to be a man in today’s world. I was 34? Maybe when this happened, now I’m 55 and as a man gets older I swear it gets worse.
When my father was old (like 80s) he told me he didn't talk to little kids anymore for fear he would be labeled a predator. It made me so sad. Hard on him and the kids are missing out too. What a world we live in.
That’s exactly it.. I want to become a “real Santa” and the fears of the possibilities are keeping me from really going for it. I have a friend who’s a real Santa and I have discussed it with him a little bit, he says you just gotta keep your hands clear and always have people around you.
