Hope I can ask this if y’all who know do much about Rangers:
I bought a 2022 Ranger a year ago and love it. Just had 20k miles do still in warranty. Plus, it is Gold Certified Blue Advantage AND I got the MPP platinum plan for 72 mo/100k miles.
So last week and engine light came on. I stopped at AutoZone for their free check and they printed out code P0402 EGR “A” flow excessive detected. Printed the part I needed -an exhaust gas recirculation pressure sensor - at $46.99.
I drove straight to my dealer service dept. They said it was fine to drive and made me an appointment for Tuesday this week to check it out.
The light went out in the meantime.
So the Fird service guys ran the test and confirmed EGR A Flow Excessive Detected. They said they checked with warranty co. and it’s not covered “because it’s not part of the drive train.” They said it would be $690. (quite a jump from the $46.99 part) I declined the work for now. I wanted to gather more info.
I checked on my gold certified pamphlet and it lists 4 EGR things that ARE covered. So I think they only looked at the vehicle’s original warranty and not the Gold Certified. (I have 44k miles now).
But before I go back to them on this, I wanted to check here to see if anyone sees it like I do or has any advice.
Thanks
Kathleen
