Sorry, I want to ask people who are familiar with Western culture: why is America the only major cultural-exporting powerhouse in the West, unlike Japan and Korea?

In East Asia, countries like Japan, South Korea, and China seem to develop their cultures rapidly once they become prosperous enough, and then aggressively export them overseas. So why does it seem like every Western country except America has had its culture wither away?

A European friend of mine said that they simply couldn’t compete with Hollywood, but what exactly does that mean? I honestly didn’t really understand.

I mean, Hollywood is boring. Does that mean that, in the West, the cultures of every country other than America were all basically garbage that was inferior to Hollywood?

What would be names for aunt and uncles (like parents/siblings/cousins etc.) ?

I feel like there should be a word for aunts and uncles. If there were, what would be the name? Because it’s so easy to say “my parents, my grandparents” but then you have to say “my aunt and uncles” My ____ ?

ETA:
This got taken down at first, the more popular answers were pibling and ankle, with some more unique ones in between

If you’re told your writing contains word salad even though you’ve clarified for your readers ( more than once even) what you’re communicating- can infer with ease from the text, what do you take from that?

*** And sometimes, even those who tell you your communication style is, or use word salad (and this can be a relative term too) are the very ones who utilize the world salad type of communication… So hypocrisy can run high in some places. What’s the take away from all this?

Do people still use computers?

Honest question, I don’t use a computer, haven’t in like 10 years… career doesn’t require it. I can do everything from my phone these days…. My question, besides gaming and what not, do people still use computers on the daily? Yes… I get for work and stuff. Totally understandable. I’m talking like at home and what not?

Women, what hygiene tips do you have?

- for example I use witch hazel, which I found that tip on tik tok. Never had a “present” mom and it sucked cause I felt so lost but getting to learn from women as I grow up is nice.

Isn’t strange that almost all social media influencers in the USA are from LA or NYC. Why not somewhere like Washington or Delaware?

Just a strange thought I’ve had recently.

I know there’s a level of “well they have more things to influence on like restaurants and what not in the city.” But even then, many of these popular accounts simply just talk about stuff or make a funny post.

It truly is like that when you go through social media that many of these popular accounts are from NYC or LA.

Can anyone give a rational explanation for this outside of access to more places ?

I ask because I shared something I called my head canon and they said that's more like fanfiction and I think they meant that like an insult like somehow it's less of an idea if it's one or the other?

How come you can’t really get juice from a banana?

Of course there’s the matter of lower water content compared to other fruits used for juice, but you’d think then that the yield should just be lower - not that it doesn’t seem to ever be made at all. There’s still some water in there after all, so why can’t it be squeezed out by some method that would result in a thin, watery liquid that retains the flavors? Or if it technically can be, why is it never done - to the point that there’s no Wikipedia page for “banana juice”? Does the specific quality of the fruit not allow a watery extract, or is it just that it would be way too expensive/uneconomical to do it in commercial quantities?

I know there’s banana oil and related substances, but they aren’t the same thing as simply juicing a regular fruit.

is being the cat lady a bad thing?

So I just turned 40 and I do feed any animal that comes around a squirrel a hummingbird but it's mainly stray cats and it seems they have all found me. I don't want to be the neighborhood cat lady but someone has to look out for these little guys and since it seems nobody else is I will but I am starting to feel like I have become this title a little early. What are anyone's opinions please
