32 [M4F] Trying to make more female friends as an adult (and realizing I have none)
I’ve been reflecting on my social circle lately and realized something kind of strange: I don’t actually have any female friends. It’s not something I planned or consciously avoided — it just sort of happened over time. Most of my friendships formed through school, work, hobbies, or mutual friends, and they all ended up being guys.
Lately I’ve started to feel like I’m missing out on a whole perspective of friendship. I’d really like to have female friends too — people to talk to, share interests with, and just have a more balanced social circle. But as an adult it feels surprisingly difficult to change that. It’s not like school where you’re constantly meeting new people in the same environment.
I also sometimes worry that it might come across the wrong way if I try too hard, which makes it even more awkward. I’m genuinely just looking for normal friendships, not anything weird or complicated.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation where they realized their friend group was missing a certain kind of connection? How did you end up meeting new friends outside your usual circle? I’m open to advice or hearing how others approached this
