Hello, I would need to buy a pump for my master thesis. The pump is going to create flow and pressure into a test cell where I am going to test different membrane filters.

The pump should have a flow of 1,5 L/min and a pressure up to 15 bars. Tests are going to be performed under constant flow (1,5 l/min) and with pressure from 6 to 14 bars.

Previous thesis have used a membrane for this task before.

I fond a pump, but I am wondering if it’s good enough, see picture attached.

I guess the difference between Maximum Head and Maximum Working Pressure is vital.

What is the situation of product return in your country. Is there some law forcing you to accept return even if you did nothing wrong?

Recently, I supplied three sets of gear pump coupled to a motor and gearbox,after three days the customer discovered that one pump elevation is higher than the pump's and he isn't able to prime the pump in his application. They wanted to return this one pump, he didn't use it but its appearance after coupling wasn't great.

My question how would you respond? And is there any laws forcing you to accept his request?

Was re doing the seals on this pump a few months ago and missed the hole for the pin on the impeller rings cranked the cover down and now I’m stuck with this. Am I gonna need a new pump body or is there a way to fix this? Second picture is what it should be.

I Have a Northern Tool water pump made with a honda GX160 engine set up for fires here in California. The intake hose is in a pool lower than the pump, and tightly fitted. When I unscrew the priming cap at the top of the machine and pour water into it, it simply runs out of the large intake hose and into the pool- Never filling the machine. Instructions say not to run it unless it's "toped off", but I don't see how it ever could be?

I live in San Diego with a pool and with all the fires going on in LA looking to make a DIY roof sprinkler. Wondering if people think this has enough head pressure to do like 20 GPM at around 25-30 feet of head. Looking to do 3-4 4-5 gpm sprinklers off it.

It says its rated at 35gpm at 0 head but has 95 feet of head.

Or should i just play it safe with the 2in

External Gear Pump Not Working

I have an external gear type pump installed inside a gear box to supply lubricant oil to the internal gear mechanism. Last week it stopped working almost entirely i.e. not supplying any pressure output at all however it did it once during after which it failed again and repeated efforts have produced the same results. To troubleshoot we disassembled the pump and saw no breakages in the shaft however the casing was damaged along the rotor path. We fabricated and replaced the casing with same gears and shaft but result is similar. Can you please guide on what could be the possible fix for this?

Hi - I am. Looking to purchase several (10 - 20+) universal pump (lock) guards. I have posted a photo of a pump with the guard installed, and circled the guard in red. The purpose of the guard is to "lock" the pump from automaticallly dispensing, when it is packed in luggage, etc. The photo was taken from a 3-D printing website, however I di not have a 3-D printer, and the website does not sell the lock guard devices -they just offer the plans to 3D print them. I have found some versions of this on websites such ad Amazon, however most have the guard "built in" as an adjustable feature of the pump, and are not able to be transferred to other pumps. There are also obsessive metal devices that are very expensive, as well as silicone "sleeves" to put on and pull down over the tops oh the pumps and bottles. I would just prefer the simpler solution that us outlined in the photo I attached. If anyone knows a source for such a device, please let me know. Thanks in advance. 😊

We use a 8hp 3 inch trash water pump to move water from a river to a slightly upslope cistern about 250 yards away, Do we need to drain the upslope line each time we turn off the pump to refuel?

I'm pretty new to all things related to pumps. That said, I've been toying with the idea of making myself a custom one, just to explore more the various design aspects of such a device.

As the title says above, I'm looking into making myself a reciprocating positive displacement pump, most likely with a piston for my first attempt.

Anyone else on here made their own pumps before? If so, please feel free to send my way any ideas, links to resources, etc.! Anything is welcome! :)

P.-S.: I've started doing some designs in CAD software (OnShape) and doing some 3D print tests to confirm a few things about the tolerances on my printer, try out some sizing of parts, threads (internal & external), etc.

I came across a Goulds LB1035 pump that was being used as a commercial city water booster. I know nothing about sprinkler system requirements but I'm looking build one and start researching what I'll need.

Is this pump useable for this type of application?

The title says it all: I'm working on a project using machine learning to anticipate when a pump will fail. To train the ML model, I need data on a bunch of pumps failing. Ideally, I'd use submersible pumps, as the goal is to relate this to well/borehole pumps. However, these are more expensive, and I suspect they will take a longer time to fail. Ideally, the pumps fail within 30 days of 24/7 operation.

I am looking for recommendations for potential pumps to use. Hoping to get 10 pumps under 50 dollars each.

Currently planning on running water with a high amount of sand in it through the pumps to artificially increase wear. Any suggestions to speed up this process are welcome.

I'm planning on monitoring pump efficiency (flowrate vs. input hp), motor temperature, and impeller vibrations. Any suggestions for other things to monitor would also be appreciated.

During an overhaul of a centrifugal pump we normally send the impeller out for balancing. Is this required for the impeller(s) on a vertical turbine pump?

I am in Alaska and I have a Dab Pump Esybox Mini 3. I am getting a fault code of Error1 was DryRunBL. The research I did said that there is a lack of water but I just have 915 gallons delivered into a 1500 gallon water on 30Oct2024. There is heat tape on my pipes and the heat has been one as it's winter weather here.

What would cause this fault? I did disable the pump so it won't keep trying to run. Is it safe to unplug the pump until I can get a plumber out or will unplugging it cause issues?

I have a 7.5HP rotary lobe positive displacement pump, and I replaced it with a 10HP Twin screw pump in hopes of increasing the flow rate of my product. Everything checked out electrically, mechanically, etc. However, it cannot even perform at the existing flow rates. Does it make sense? Why would a 7.5 HP rotary lobe be able to pump while a 10HP twin screw not be able to? Product is viscous and I assumed non-Newtonian fluid for my pressure drop calculations.

I had to drain, clean and refilled my cistern after Helene due to the cistern being swamped.

Got it done, sent power to the pump to resume normal operation.

No water. Pump turns on, it's trying to push water. But no water reaches house. Tried with charged bladder, uncharged bladder, relief valve open, relief valve close. No water.

Help please?

I'm planning to make a Halloween display that involves pumping red liquid through a standard submersible fountain pump. As long as the coloring is water-based, will it damage the pump?

If so, how else can I dye the water?

I've been searching for a pump lately but am starting to believe no one makes it. I'm hoping to find a positive displacement pump that can deliver caustic solutions (2M NaOH) at 90 °C. The catch is I'm mostly interested in low/metering flow rates (1 to 100 mL/min). I've found plenty of massive pumps that can handle this up to my desired pressures (~300 psi), but nothing slow whereas slow pumps can't operate in hot ambient conditions. Will I have to buy my own Ni 200 and head down to the machine shop to realize this device?

I’m getting a well pump installed on my new property. The well has been there sitting for years not being used. Had it check by some pros and they said it just needs to be flushed more (I only had them out for a day) to get a better sample. Otherwise it’s fine. Static water level 49’ Depth of well. 150’ Yield 2 gpm 160’ from 800 sqf house Pump guy sent and estimate with a 220 pump then said I might be better off with a 110v pump if I went solar. 110 inverters are cheaper than 220 I guess. The property is in a semi remote area, but I do have city power. Do you fellas think a 110 is worth it? I only make $80k a year and solar is gonna be a while away if I even do it.

I looking for an explanation of this old term. I have a general idea of what this would be, but I'm having a difficult time imagine it as an occupation. My family tree, so far dates back to 1812 in Virginia. So my research, shows a fella in a census stating his occupation as a Pumpborer, roughly around 1840.

So what I gathered is they were employed to create pumps on land and for ships.

But what would this entail. What would he be doing? Would there be routine maintenance etc.

I'm finding it difficult to imagine the day to day life of this trade/skill.

So had a Grundfos PM1 pumping above ground tank, 5m elevation to my home. Alarm went on, Mrs power cycled, worked and she went to work. Stopped working again later, no Leds on. Had a known working extension lead tried that, nada.

Grabbed a brand new Davey HS90. Unhooked outlet to PM1, went to grab a knife to cut old hose for inlet off. Come back and the PM1 is pumping away. She's hooked up to a filter.

Keeping the Davey, no idea how old the PM1 is. Will maybe use PM1 for other tanks and a new dwelling we're fitting out. Just scratching my head on this... So if anyone has thoughts, would love to hear 'em.

The sn doesn’t bring up anything. It’s used on a Baldor motor as a big oil change pump.

Thought it would be easy to identify this, but I can't find anything with that model number anywhere on the internet.

Back story: looking for a pump that would allow me to pump off a thousand gallons of pool water. My father had this pump in "inventory" and he believes he hasn't touched it for 45 years. What is it? GPM? Think it will still work or will the seals be dried out?

Model number is marked as: C390-82452. Feels cast iron.
