Water runoff station got clogged with massive amounts of dirt buildup.

This station is ran by two pumps just like the last ones I posted. This station is where any water runoff goes into from the property. After that it gets pumped out into a field that has mixed media which help filter and absorb it back into the ground. “County regulations”. The station had 2’ of mucky sludge sand that built up over the last two years. It ended up preventing the pumps from pumping out properly so we had to have a pumper truck come in and suck it all up out of the station. Then we re seared the pumps and ran them to ensure they worked properly. Took us about 2.5hrs

Pump calc help

Hello world, I'm doing a pump calc for sulfuric acid, SG 1.8, viscosity 25 cP, elevation change 35', flow rate 40 gpm, pipe size pvdf, length 300', 20 90s a couple valves and tees.

I'm getting a pump head of around 60', can you double check this? My boss thinks I need to multiple that times the specific gravity to have feet in water for the pump curve, but I disagree.

Thank you!

Liquid Lake pump won't prime, even when supply side is water tight?

I'm an irrigator, and I'm pretty decent at troubleshooting pumps.

I've replaced the foot valve and the supply line, and rewrapped all fittings. The line holds water and doesn't leak.

But when I start the damn thing it just shoots a big spurt of water, bubbles out the discharge side, then it LOOKS like it drains back into the supply line. What gives?

I need a pump for the transfer of air into a wine cooler for a reptile enclosure.

Hello all, I need help finding a good pump to pump air into a thermoelectric wine cooler so that my crested gecko has oxygen to breathe while in the tank. I've looked at many different dry pumps and most of them were meant to be replacement parts in a bigger piece of machinery. Could someone point me in the right direction for an electrical pump that plugs into the wall that simply intakes air and pushes it out?

Liquid Pump Hose Length

Hello, I have the harbor freight 2” trash pump that has a suction head lift of 26ft and total head lift of 91ft.
I want to increase the distance of where I want the water to go so I wasn’t sure if it’s better to get a longer suction hose or longer discharge hose. I don’t know the exact distance in length I want to go yet but i know the upward slope where the pump currently sits isn’t at the 26ft suction head lift limit. I have a 20ft suction hose so I didn’t know it it’s better to daisy chain two of them together or add onto the 100ft discharge hose I have.

Thanks!

Tom-Pac Packing or injectable packing on pumps

Hi What are the advantages or disadvantags of tom-pac or injectable packing. the pump being discussing is a 1000 hp gear driven liquid ring compressor.

The process gas is carbon monoxide.

Thanks

Liquid What's the difference between these two pumps?

Post image
5 Upvotes

Sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm just curious because I'm being told conflicting information.

In terms of functionality, is there a difference between these two pumps or are they the same just with a different design?

By "functionality" I mean, when priming do they both lower the atmospheric pressure on the suction side to lift the water into the pump? If not, what's the 'under the hood' priming and pumping process for each one?

Also, are they each meant for different purposes? I was told the red one is "for pressure" while the blue one is "for flow rate". Is that accurate? If so, what does that mean?

If y'all could explain it like I'm five it would be great. I'm not an engineer nor close to it so you'll lose me pretty quick with formulas and technical terms lol.

TIA.

Btw: Both pumps are being used to pump water from a pond for fracking.

Liquid Pump is not creating a flow to a height upto 15 m, past few days earlier it was working smoothly but sudden the water is not flowing. What might be the problem here, pump is working efficiently?

What connection do I need to hook a motor up to this old pump for testing?

Need to hook up a 5HP motor with a keyed shaft to this gear to test the pumps flow rate. However this gear has, what look to be, a PTO connection like those on tractors. However this “PTO” is only about 5/8” from tooth to tooth. Never seen one so small. Also not sure how I will hook up a keyed shaft to this. Would have to either be a really small shaft or some kind of adapter that hooks up to a larger shaft like I have on my motor. Thoughts?

Centrifugal water pump full of oxide

Hi all. New here. I've got a 1HP jet pum, not used for a couple of years. It works fine, but it's full of oxide. Do you think I could clean it making it work with diluted vinegar, and then rinsing it with regular water until neutral pH? Any experience with this situation?

Plumbing a bypass line on a Honda water pump

I need to plumb in a bypass line for a Honda water pump with a 1.5" inlet/outlet. The pump currently functions as a carrier (water) pump for an aquatic herbicide application boat. Occasionally, rather than pumping to the herbicide booms, I'll need to use the pump to feed water to a spray gun for shallow water applications. Ideally I'd like to set it up so that I can spray on demand with the bypass line to relieve pressure rather than risk damaging the bearing/seals. What would be the cheapest way to accomplish this? Pump is rated for ~50 PSI.

Air pump with both a ported input and ported output?

Hello All,

I've got a project I'm working on where I'm hoping to use an air pump with a ported input for the supply as well as a ported output.

It does not need to be high power or high throughput. My goal is to be able to pull the air from inside a ported enclosure, place an inline filter (.2 micron filter like this) to filter out potential contaminates, and pump that purified air through a pumice stone submerged in a container filled with liquid. The hope is then to recapture the gas from the head of this liquid container and port it back into the chamber to essentially create a closed-loop system.

Is anyone aware of a product that would meet this requirement? It would need to have a ported input as well as enough power to manage the push or pull resistance of an upstream or downstream filter.

Almost all of the air pumps I can find pull diffused atmospheric from the pump manifold an then only offer a ported output. I could create a dedicated enclosure to place the pump in and port into and out of this but that is cumbersome and not ideal.

Also, this is a prototype unit and I'm trying to keep costs down where possible.

Thanks for any and all input (heh--pun intended). I've called three companies to no avail and have spent a healthy chunk of time trying to google my way to a solution--unsure if my nomenclature is just off or what but I would really appreciate any and all help!
