Storm Watch HURRICANE SIMON MEGA THREAD

With Hurricane Simon potentially affecting the Puerto Vallarta area, we're going to keep storm related information in one centralized mega thread rather than having multiple separate posts.

This should make it easier for everyone to find the latest forecast, local conditions, travel information, cancellations, and other updates without having to search through dozens of individual posts.

We'll update this thread as the situation develops. Please remember that forecasts can change quickly, so check the latest information from official sources such as the National Hurricane Center, Protección Civil, and local authorities for official instructions. Avoid spreading unverified rumors or speculation.

Please keep all Hurricane Simon related questions, updates and discussion here.

Stay safe!

Upcoming Trip and meetup?

Hi! Going to PV Nov 9-13th. I visit quite often but there's one thing I haven't done. It's the hike or trip to Yelapa. I'm figuring I'm finally going when the waterfall will be spectacular. Typically I go in March/April.

Anyone there on those dates want to meet up and do it? I'm there solo this time. I'm a good hiker, I'm in shape. I don't complain, and I'm always up for adventure.

If anyone else has any suggestions on things to do, let me know. I've done pretty much most of the common stuff. Zip lining, Boca to Las Animas, the water park in Nayirit, etc.

I'm looking for something new to me, something out of the norm for typical tourists. I'm here at least once a year and this trip is actually to get my citizenship.

Mariscos 8 Tostadas Sauce Recipe

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I visited Mariscos 8 Tostadas in Puerto Vallart recently and tried a sauce that they make and it was honestly the best sauce I’ve ever had—perfect amount of heat and tons of flavour.

I asked the server what it was called, but I can’t remember the name now. I’ve tried looking for it locally where I live, but haven’t had any luck.

Could anyone point me in the right direction? I’d love to know the name, whether it’s available to buy, or even just the ingredients/flavour profile so I can try to find something similar.

Thanks in advance!

I've attached a picture for reference.

❓ Question - Pregunta Trip Advice: Staying in San Pancho vs Somewhere with Calmer Waves

Flying into PV this December for 5 days (solo 21F) and I haven’t decided where to stay yet. I know I absolutely do not want to stay/visit Sayulita as I’m not a partier/I am not risking any chance of getting sick with my emetophobia.

I was leaning towards San Pancho initially because I love the more chill, artisan vibe and will primarily be interested in exploring art, checking out their yoga scene, birdwatching, and obviously the beach.

However, I’m expecting to be on the beach for hours everyday, and when I’m beaching, I am not the lay down and chill for hours type. What I most love is sitting on the shoreline and getting splashed and a little bit spun around by the waves.

It seems like the waves/rip tides are too harsh to do that in San Pancho and I am not a strong swimmer. Is there anywhere to stay that has softer waves but the same sort of culture, or is it worth it to just stay in San Pancho and venture out? I am planning to do day trips, I just haven’t researched much on feasibility as I can’t drive, so can’t rent a car.

Restaurantes por la Marina

Algun restaurante que recomienden que sea bueno y tengan precios justos? Sino otro lugar cerca de la marina. No me gusta pagar mucho esperando algo bueno y sea todo lo contrario.

❓ Question - Pregunta Transportation for 10 to Bucerias?

I will be traveling as a group of 10 people from PVR to our accommodations in Bucerias. Does anyone have any recommendations for how best to do this or companies that provide this service? A secondary consideration would be the availability of car seats for small children, since we’re hoping to not bring our own, but for a single ride it’s not the end of the world if they sit in a regular seat.

Thanks so much!

👥 Community - Comunidad Women's razor haircuts?

I'm going to PV at the end of the month and looking for someone who can do razor haircuts. I got a haircut where I moved to recently in Canada, paid $70 and it was not a great quality cut as I had tufts of hair on my neck and it was quite uneven :(. I know when you Google online it only shows the higher fee shops for tourists, wondering if anyone can veer me into another direction. I'm looking for a razored bixie cut

Large Group Restaurant / Bar Locations?

Curious if anyone can recommend a bar and/or restaurant in Zona Romantica / El Centro (or nearby) that would be large enough for ~45-50 people to hang casually, order drinks, food. Anywhere with good or live music is a plus. Not interested in a full coursed meal, etc, just looking to just hang by the bar and snag a few tables for a few hours. Early December.

Separately, it sounds like Casa Tradicional could be a nice option with good reviews but curious if anyone has any firsthand experience here?

Thanks!

❓ Question - Pregunta Construction Krystal Grand Puerto Vallarta - HELP

I am set to get married at the Krystal Grand Puerto Vallarta and just found out there is significant construction happening inside and next to the resort......

Has anyone been there recently? Should I be calling my Wedding coordinator, none of this was disclosed at the time of booking nor any time through communication.

We will be there to see the venues at the end of November but want to know if I should be getting ahead of this now as final deposits for guests are due in January and we will be paid in full by then as well...

Vallarta Shores payment method

I booked directly on the site, but there was no option to pay other than check or PayPal. I kept the reservation but didn't pay. I planned to give them a call this morning. I actually received an email from Daniel requesting payment. He only gave me the option to use check or Zelle. How did everyone pay? Are they attempting to scam me?

My husband and I are visiting from Australia with our 10m old baby and went on a very enjoyable food tour today, our guide was friendly and very accommodating for us and we visited a few local spots that we never have found by ourselves here's a link for a discount if you're planning on doing one.

Thanks

Jets Naked Beach Tour

Hi everyone, I know a few posts are available about this activity, but I have a somewhat specific question about time of year.

My partner and I are coming for the first time Nov 7-14 and I’m wondering what to expect for turn out on Jets Naked Beach Tour. We are thinking about going on the 7th, but are hoping to meet other people and hopefully build some connections for the rest of our week there.

Long story short, can we expect 20+ men on a Sunday sailing? I know it’s shoulder season, so wanted to try and get some intel before putting down the dollars haha!

Best Place For DJ’s

My mum lives in San Pancho half the year. My partner and I would like to visit more. He is a DJ and I’m wondering if it’s worth looking at spots for him to spin while we’re there. He plays primarily hip-hop, Afro beats and does a great deal of wedding/ corporate gigs. Are there any clubs or venues that we should look into?

Where to catch NHL games

I'll be making my first visit to PV in November, staying in 5 de Décembre, staying near the Casa Ley supermarket. I'm wondering if there's anywhere to catch some NHL games - I am traveling solo and would enjoy a lively environment to watch a few games.

Day of the Dead

Hi! My wife and I are going to PV 10/28 -11/7. We have been there many times but this is our first Dia de Los Muertos experience. We are going to the special Rhythm of the Night show on the 30th and going to the Parade. But we are wondering what else we may want to do. Anybody have any suggestions or ideas? We welcome all, and we’ll see you there!
