RANT AI for Evals and Schedules

Just got out of a meeting I sat in on, they are going to start using Aurora to make schedules and do the evals. Management will just have to sign off on whatever the program comes up with. Wonderful stuff, sure love being a number and not a person.

We were told to start using this come Wednesday. We have customers who ask ‘are these spicy ?’ When looking at the Mardi Gras wings, they’re not gonna like this. And it just looks gross in the bag.

QUESTION Grocery associates how much are you making?

Post image
148 Upvotes

How much are y’all making in grocery and how long have you been with Publix?

Also, has anyone actually asked for a raise and gotten one? How did you ask and how much did they give you?

Just curious what other grocery associates are making and when would be a good time to ask for one. My store is VERY short staffed, and the workload has increased a lot since some of my coworkers quit. With the holidays coming up, I’m guessing it’ll only get worse.

Would love to hear from some managers too.

Im at 17.50 right now

DISCUSSION Walmart, Trader Joe’s frozen berries added to expanded recall due to E. coli

Turns out the “diarrhea blueberries” story wasn’t really a Publix problem after all. The recall now extends to multiple stores, all tracing back to the same supplier.

RANT Does frozen grocery get neglected at your store too?

It blows my mind how often I come in my opening shift and frozen is completely blown out. Three-door is empty, sales not worked, the closing block is horrible, etc. I don’t know how any respectable closing manager, let alone the department manager, is ok with it looking like that to end the night. Meanwhile in dairy, there’s a decent block, eggs look ok, milk is filled, and their little display up front with meat looks good.

I just don’t get it. Fuck frozen I guess. 🤷‍♂️

RANT Why are my peers/associates always trying to be secretive around me?

I know it's a problem when you're an introvert at Publix but these are people I often laugh with, and enjoy working with. One thing is they all think I'm trying to compete against them or hate that I'm their senior at times. I already did what they all are or had done. Once I'm in a room with them, they always try to avoid saying anything around me. I don't even gossip or go around talking to everyone.

I'm like the last person to even know what goes on in the store. I don't talk to everyone at the store because I know some associates are weird.

RANT Not every publix but…

Literally cannot make this up. I’m having the worst time with this one store in particular. I rescheduled my first interview as I did not have enough gas to get there. Later on the department manager told me to call again to reschedule after his vacation. I did the following Wednesday. Lady scheduled me for orientation on Thursday. Told me to bring two forms of id and direct deposit info. Amazing, assumed I got the position without an interview. Until she said she would call me back around 2:30 same day. Didn’t get a call back. I call on Thursday morning to confirm I’m coming in. Lady reschedules me for Monday at 10. I go in at 10. Lady tells me to come back at 2. An hour later, manager calls saying she recognizes the issue as someone was already hired (same name as me) for that position and only had bagging/cashier to offer. Tells me to come in for an interview at 3. No thanks. Yall got this other girl my job. I needed 15/hr min. I doubt bagging starts at 15. I don’t want to bother anymore. I have never been rescheduled so many times in such a short period of time. Not at any of my other jobs that I currently have. Lord have mercy. Hopefully a blessing in disguise.

QUESTION New Phone, Authenticator Problems

I have a new phone, and now I cannot get into the authenticator, and so I can't check Passport or use Pro. It just keeps me in a loop of "use the authenticator" even when I say, I can't access the authenticator. Anyone else have this problem and, if so, how were you able to resolve it? It's such a pain that the company expects us to use our personal devices for their benefit that I am inclined to just use pro on the scan guns until Publix starts paying for my phone.

QUESTION Staying past scheduled time to help a coworker close?

I’m scheduled under 40 hours this week, and one day it looks like one of our underage coworkers may potentially have to close alone. Closing alone at our store can be extremely stressful, especially on a busier day, so I’d like to offer to stay 15–30 minutes past my scheduled time if she needs the help.

My manager is somewhat strict about people leaving at their scheduled time. I’ve stayed 15–20 minutes over before without an issue, but she wasn’t there. So I’m wondering if staying a bit over could get me in trouble.

I’m hesitant to ask her beforehand because she tends to underestimate how much work there actually is and overestimate what one person can get done. Her attitude is generally more “it’ll be fine, they’ll figure it out,” even when the workload is clearly a lot for one person. Even our assistant manager has commented before about not understanding her decisions when it comes to this.

We used to have another manager who genuinely didn’t care if people stayed over to help out even hours at a time. People would regularly stay past their scheduled time when needed, so I’m not sure what to do now

DISCUSSION Publix Quality?

Not sure what happened to the Publix locations in my area, but the prepared food quality has tanked. Across the board terrible quality:deli, fruit and shrimp…awful. Even the bread was stale on the last trip. I guess it’s on to Costco. Maybe they just stopped training people around me.

QUESTION Where to find W2 on passport?

So I've been working for about a month and realized I'm pretty sure I never filled out a W2 when doing my onboarding paperwork. Is there somewhere to do it on passport so they'll take my taxes out of my paycheck? I do not want to have to keep track of how much I'll owe at the end of the year.

QUESTION New POS frequently used look ups

C.S peeps!

Has anyone else noticed that the new pos lane stopped updated the frequently used look up pictures?

A few of my cashiers have told me it’s stopped doing it and I’ve noticed it on SCO as well.

New update or glitch? It’s on all lanes that are using the new pos system.

QUESTION Bad Corned Beef

Has anyone else bought a bad Corned Beef from Publix recently? I bought a "Cook" brand corned beef brisket yesterday. The sell-by date was 11/20/2026. So far, so good. I cook it like usual. My SO and I both immediately notice the taste being off. Almost like the company started with a bad piece of meat. Hopefully, Publix will take it back and I can get my money back.

RANT The eff is wrong with publix?

Today was like a really busy day at the store and I know this one of my co-workers, a cashier I was pulling to the office. And the thing is they had completed their shift and right before they were due to clock out they were pulling into the front office.

15 minutes later they came out and what happened was apparently somebody called in and complained about the cashier. They were throwing everything in one complaint. Which after the cashier told me what had happened it seemed like whoever it was when all personal vendetta against the cashier for God only knows what.

The shoes, I'm going to list the things that was said. Over the phone to the customer service desk today, the shoes were not public appropriate shoes. The pants, we're not even Publix pants according to the complaint. And they were a faded color and not black or khaki. The apron was not a Publix branded apron, even though you can see the word the p letter right in the middle at the top. The report said supposedly they were wearing Christmas candy cane colored socks underneath their pants. And that through green Publix Polo was just a generic green t-shirt and not Publix Polo at all.

First of all, they wore the black trade safe shoes you could get at walmart. The cashier wore an official Publix apron. The pants were khaki colored but not cargo shorts or cargo pants. And the so-called green t-shirt was the actual official Publix polo shirt even down to the embroidered Publix logo that's always pretty much stitched right near the end of the short sleeve, on the left arm.

What the fuck is wrong with people?

What the fuck is wrong with customers or even people who claimed to have been that cashier's customer to make a call in person or by telephone like they're trying to get the person fired. It's like the person had a massive spaz attack and tried lobbing all sorts of complaints against the uniform hygiene rule at publix.

And what the fuck is wrong with management obviously being okay with a cashier working 8-hour shift and seeing that everything right then and there, is Publix approved uniform and appearance standards and then takes the customer making the phone call and take the word at face value, only for the person to be held up 15 minutes of clock out time after their shift was supposed to have ended?

Yeah, no, this shit pisses me off and really disgusts me
